Family-friendly outdoor activities in Hong Kong to thrill your kids

"Built on the former airport site, this expansive sports and entertainment hub offers more than eight hectares of outdoor space with statue- and fountain-lined plazas, badminton and basketball courts, an open-air theatre and a Youth Sports Ground for kids to burn off energy. A public multi-lane athletic track is available when not reserved for events, while indoor attractions include the city’s largest indoor playground, a 17.5-metre rock-climbing wall, a Namco arcade and a 40-lane bowling alley. With 70-plus dining choices and plazas for casual walks or pick-up games, it’s designed for full-day family outings." - Joy FangandCraig Sauers

• First time visiting this place for the 2025 Liverpool FC vs AC Milan friendly match. • The stadium is located in a prime area of the city and is accessible by MTR (about a 10-minute walk). However, it’s a bit tricky, Sung Wong Toi Station is actually closer than Kai Tak Station, despite the name. • Kai Tak Stadium looks excellent and modern. Most importantly, it’s an air-conditioned stadium! That makes a huge difference. It stays cool and comfortable inside, even when the weather outside is hot and humid. A great venue for enjoying football in Hong Kong.

Kai Tak Stadium is a wonderful state-of-art sports arena. Fantastic sight lines of the pitch from the upper tiers. The large screens made it easy to view the action (replays too) and PA was loud and clear. The concourse facilities (food & beverages, toilets) are somewhat insufficient, so I expect improvements in these areas as the stadium sees more use.

WOW such a nice stadium. Comfortable, EXTREMELY fast food service, great seats. The amazing thing was there are air conditioning vents under every row so it's never hot inside. I'd definitely go back for a concert or sports event

I think this stadium is more suitable for Football than Singapore Stadium. Kai Tak has a closer seat to the field and A/C are cooler. Transportation are a little better not crowded.

Probably one of the best stadiums in Asia right now. It's simple, effective, great atmosphere, most importantly there is a roof, and it is air-conditioned. Traveling there is a breeze, it's located between two MTR stations, choose either one. If you arrive at Kai Tak station then there are two big shopping malls that you can eat before the event. The walk to the stadium is just 10 minutes. Getting into the stadium is incredibly easy, there are no lines, the check is fast, and from the gate to your seat, it is a very small walk. It's very well designed. Inside is new, the roof is closed, and there is air-conditioning, making a comfortable atmosphere. Getting home from the stadium is also very easy, there are no wait or queuing for the MTR, everything is very efficient. Truly a great experience all-around.

We went to Kai Tak Stadium to watch Coldplay's last concert day. We bought Infinity Tickets that only cost HK$344 for two tickets. Although we were seated in Row QQ 😗, the last row of the whole stadium, the experience was still memorable. It was actually the perfect seat for us because we wanted to see the entire stadium from a taller view. Our view wasn't obstructed, and we could see the round stage screens, which had superb quality—there wasn’t a single pixelated appearance. The venue itself is HUGE and could definitely host the next Taylor Swift concert, but only if the residents of Kai Tak weren’t such killjoys. That’s a different story, though. I'm still quite sad that there were no fireworks in Coldplay's Hong Kong show as it was the main reason I bought tickets, to witness the colors, props and fireworks that Coldplay's signature. Hence, 4 stars. I didn’t see the retractable roof since our seats were too high in the venue. The venue was very well-ventilated, with air-conditioning vents installed on the floor, so I assume all rows have their own. It already felt chilly for me. I have nothing but praise for the sound system from our seats; it was probably one of the best—perfectly balanced, not too loud, and not overwhelming, if that makes sense. I also appreciate the special bus routes during big events like this. If you live in the New Territories, there’s no need to worry as long as you catch your bus within 15 minutes after the show ends. I don't have much media to share as we tend to enjoy moments like this. Overall, we are very happy to have witnessed the first concert in Hong Kong's Open Stadium.

Fantastic stadium with well thought out architecture. The roof closes when needed in harsh weather conditions or when there is a need to control the noise. There are lots of shops in various floors and many VIP special stands with air conditioning. The LED Walls around the stadium are big but they could be bigger. The bar is not yet open so we could not see it in operation.

Very good, beautiful stadium. Very new. I enjoyed walking around the stadium (outside) with my friend. We took 11 and a half minutes to walk one full lap around the stadium outside. Very beautiful lights on at night. Nice nice!
