Kai Whakapai Eatery & Craft Beer Bar

A must-go lake front restaurant and bar in Wanaka. I came here 2 times. Most of dishes are worth to try. Recommend Katsu Fried Chicken, just a bit salty but goes well with ice cold beers. I totally fell in love with Kai Time Hazy IPA by Canyon Brewing.

Nice place serving 16 draft local beers, hot and cold drinks plus cakes and warm food. The food cabinets by 1.30pm though were a nearly empty so may need to keep ready made meals going longer. Few pies and cakes only left. All the food being prepared though looked fabulous. Would definitely recommend. Easy access for wheel chairs and buggies with seating inside and outside under cover. Enjoy

Brilliant spot for brunch! The Eggs Benny was absolutely delicious—perfectly poached and full of flavour. Coffee was just as great, smooth and rich. Highly recommend for a relaxed and tasty start to the day!

A sublime brunch place which absolutely tops brunches I've had back home. Our mushroom toast and salmon toast tasted fresh and bursting with flavour, whilst our coffees gave us the right kick for the day. Service was incredibly helpful and friendly as well. It is also a good place to people watch!

Kai Whakapai Eatery & Craft Beer Bar offers a fantastic dining experience with a vibrant atmosphere and friendly service. I tried the Katsu Burger, and it was absolutely delicious—crispy, flavorful, and well-balanced with fresh ingredients. The portion was generous, and the flavors were spot on, making it one of the best burgers I’ve had in a while. The craft beer selection is impressive too, perfectly complementing the food. It’s a great spot to relax, enjoy good food, and soak in the local vibe. Highly recommend if you’re in the area!

Gorgeous food and beer, the loaded fries were 6 stars dish for me☺️ We ordered 2 pizzas and one chicken bites and the loaded fries for 4 people and it was really good idea to share and taste the food.

Why is this spot only 4.5 stars?! we came back twice, and everything was sublime. The steak in the steak sandwich was medium rare, sun-dried tomatoes done to perfection, cheese was crispy (who knew I would like crispy cheese) Nachos were LOADED, chicken karaage was made with Chicken Breast, crispy and breaded to perfection, everything was done so well. coffee was ok, but 5 stars for the food!!!!!

In the early morning has a totally different vibe than the evenings. Anyhow, their breakfast were banging. The salmon and poached egg sandwich was just excellent and so was their coffee. Friendly staff and quick service. Beers in the afternoon is also a great idea here
