Kaido Sushi

Kaido Sushi is amazing! My boyfriend and I felt so welcomed and taken care of. I booked a reservation to celebrate my boyfriend’s birthday, and I wanted to surprise him with omakase since it is our first time experiencing together. It was exceptional! The interior space of the restaurant was so cozy and calming, the service was top notch, and the staff were very attentive to our needs. We started off by ordering their drinks - the Lychee-tini and Golden Apple Margarita! I was pleasantly surprised by how good the drinks were, especially the Lychee-tini I will forever be dreaming of! Then, for food, we ordered their King Omakase and got Hirame Crudo, Salmon Mania, and The Trident as the 3 chef signature courses. We also ordered the Crabby Crab and Mad Shrimp premium maki rolls. At the end, they surprised us with a tamago sponge cake and a dessert - their Cappuccino Truffle! That was so sweet! We highly recommend checking this place out. We are definitely coming back to try the rest of their menu!

Can’t say enough good things! Came here at a friend’s recommendation and everything was phenomenal. Had no issue booking a 4pm Saturday table for 2 three days in advance. Got the king omakase (soup, 3 appetizers and 9 nigiri) for $80. The fish was the freshest I’ve had in Chicago and the flavor combinations and portion size were perfect. Also got a Dragon roll to satisfy our unagi craving but you will be full after the omakase alone. The desserts (limoncello truffle and dream bomba) were delicious and unexpectedly large - one dessert would probably be enough for two people. The space was quiet and upscale, and if you sit at the bar you can see the chefs make the sushi. Will definitely be coming back!

Food comment: This Sushi restaurant is the best sushi spot I’ve been to. To start, they do not give imitation crab in their sushi. They have actual crab in their sushi. But the best thing you can get in this restaurant is the Omakase. The richness and flavor of each nigiri and sashimi are exceptional. Each piece is fresh, and the additives/garnish are intentionally complementary to the dish, adding a mouthful of flavor. My favorites are Otoro, Shutoro, and Hamachi. I personally like to order Queen or King Omakase. Also, I would like to add that the chefs' 3-course selection makes you want to cry with how good it is. My wife always makes fun of me when I eat their best food (I close my eyes and she sees my eyes twitch- hahaha). Their hand rolls are also exceptional, my favorite being Negi Toro (incredibly flavorful). Cocktails: Their unique “old fashion” is tasty and it's on the sweeter side. I also had their Lychee-Tini. This one was also on the sweeter side- tasty, but I prefer their old-fashion. Dessert: I forgot the names of the desserts, but I had 3 in particular. One of them was pistachio ice cream, another was lemon ice cream, and their mochi. All of them were good, but the lemon ice cream and the mochi were great. Salad: My wife had their salad, and it’s a pretty good salad. Their peanut sauce blended well with the salad's flavor. Soup: Please try their miso soup. It’s very soothing and relaxing to the stomach. Customer service: Excellent. The sushi chefs are friendly and interactive. The servers are also friendly and know the menu very well. They are also swift. They are what One Piece calls a Nakama. Anime fan: Last but not least, if you love anime, especially One Piece, this place has many artistic figures of One Piece characters. The name of their restaurant is named after one of the emperors in One Piece: Kaido. And each of the Omakase selections is after the name of Kaido’s general: Jack, Queen, and King (Mind you, Kaido is the fourth Omakase). Note: I’ve been here multiple times. In fact, I’ve been here every month, and they have never failed to impress me. Planning to be here in January of 2026 again. I hope the pictures show how artistic, beautiful, and tasty the food is. With some caveats, this is my new favorite omakase sushi restaurant in Chicagoland. It is found in a strip mall in Mount Prospect. The store front is plain but entering inside, you are transported to such a cozy and welcoming space. The atmosphere inside is eclectic and lived in. The chairs, for example, do not match, but they are all so comfortable. The food is top notch. You can order ale cart, but we came for the omakase menu. They have different levels to suit different people’s budgets and stomachs. I went with the Queen, which comes with 3 appetizers and 7 pieces of nigiri. The price is reasonable and I felt full at the end. The appetizers are a little different than traditional omakase, but it was a welcomed change. The appetizers were all well composed. You can tell the chef spent time balancing flavors. And the plates come out looking like pieces of art. My only disappointment is that the 7 pieces of nigiri all come out at once on a plank of wood. I much prefer the chef making each piece and plating it immediately in front of you at a sushi bar. But I understand why, logistically, this has to occur. This omakase meal flows at your pace rather than having set dining times where everyone is served at the same time. But the fish is great quality, with the medium fatty tuna and wild shrimp being my favorite pieces. And the service was amazing! Dirty plates are removed almost immediately. My water never got half full before being topped off. The pace of the dinner was steady, without any lag between courses. And most impressively, they have a chiller where they keep all the soy sauce bottles until a table arrives. Their attention to detail in service could go toe-to-toe with a Michelin starred restaurant. The chef has made some modifications to what a traditional omakase dinner looks like. But if you are okay with not having the show of having the chef prepare each piece of nigiri in front of you, then I think this restaurant could also become your next favorite omakase sushi restaurant in Chicagoland.

We visited to celebrate our anniversary and had a wonderful experience. The staff and owner-chef were incredibly kind and even came by to acknowledge us personally. We ordered the Jack and Queen omakase, and each dish was creative, flavorful, and well balanced. We will definitely be returning.

This place is a sushi lover’s dream. The fish is incredibly fresh, the food is perfectly seasoned, and the presentation is simple but elegant. I could eat here every week and never get bored.

Really loved our experience at Kaido. The vibe is chill but upscale, and the interior is beautifully done. I especially appreciated how comfortable the chairs were at the sushi bar, it made a difference! We ordered a bunch of different dishes, and everything was delicious. The hand rolls were a standout, super fresh fish and really well made. Some of the dishes had unique flavors you don’t usually find elsewhere, which was a nice surprise. You can tell the chef/owner is very hands-on, and the sushi chefs were quick, our food came out fast and looked amazing. The service was also top-notch. The servers were super attentive, constantly checking in, refilling water, and clearing empty plates without us even asking. Everything just felt effortless on our end. Also, random detail, we loved the plates they use. Just really thoughtfully done all around. Definitely planning to come back.

The NW suburbs finally has a top-notch sushi spot! Everything from top to bottom was beyond excellent. The atmosphere, the service, the sushi, and the drinks!
