It is a 10 minute walk to Asakusa metro station. It is in a largely residential area which I liked. The staff are very helpful. The rooms are rather small ( we had twin beds) but the beds are very comfortable, there is a small fridge and kettle, and the bathroom was really great. The Japanese like hot water and plenty of it, which I like too. There is limited food service but restaurants and convenience stores close by. A little off the beaten track but overall a very nice place to stay. The art storage areas are neat and add to the charm of the place.

Stayed at this hotel with 4 adults. Room was clean and the shower room, toilet, and sink were all separate which comes in handy when sharing a room with so many people. The only con for me was the how far it was away from the nearest train/ subway station. The hotel is situated in a residential area, so it’s nice and quiet. I would recommend this hotel to those who don’t mind walking 10-15 min to the nearest train/ subway station

KAIKA Tokyo is in a quiet neighbourhood in Sumida, 10-15 minutes on foot from the transport hub that is Asakusa station. The staff are very helpful and look to accommodate guests' needs whenever asked. Breakfast is limited to bagels (3 kinds), but it is enjoyable in a lovely interior doubling as an art depo/display space. Rooms are cozy and clean, and the beds were very comfortable. There is a shared lounge in the basement, with purified water which can be taken to rooms in provided glass jugs to prevent plastic waste. All in all, my family had a good stay in KAIKA : )

It was "meh" just ok. Here's my impressions. It's very minimalist hip in decor and they have great photos of the room but I find many details visually pleasing but not useful. * note: It turns out that "Modest" room means that the windows are frosted. There's no explanation as to what a "Modest" room is. Positive: - Location is fine. That the area is quiet was a plus for me. - Fridge in room - Large windows - Nice compact but functional bathtub - Nice bath products - Quiet - Could not hear the other guests as the walls are thick - Spacious - Good laundry area on site - Microwave in basement Negative: - No functional storage. This is where minimalism style gets in the way of functionality. Only a few hangers so I had to ask for more. No drawers - No phone in room to reach the front desk. - No staff at the front from around midnight to 7am - While they tout that they want people to meet locals, it is decideldy not a place where locals hang out - Window doesn't open, not even a crack to let fresh air in - Interior is all gray. For some people this is going to be a feature but I found it gloomy and depressing, especially on darker days - No functional bedside reading lamp. You get an attractive orb next to the bed but that's not enough to read. It's either that or the ceiling light that lights the whole room - I asked for the front desk to call and make a reservation for a massage at a local shiatsu place. They did not follow up as I had asked. Since there's no way for them to call me in my room, they were not able to let me know. - only two towl hooks in the bathroom and they were both really high on the wall. I'm short. - There is a step up from the room to the bathroom, which is a hazard It was worth trying out but I won't return. Thank you for reading this

The rooms were great - we had 3 double beds, all a very good size and super comfortable. The staff was AMAZING - so kind and helpful. And the art on display is awesome!

Everything are good except the curtain. You cannot get dark room to sleep because the curtain can never shut properly. It was bright from 4 AM and i can't go back to sleep.

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The room was for 4 people and was a good size. We had the room that was 2 twin beds + 2 sofa beds, but honestly the sofa beds were the same as the twin beds (we couldn’t tell which were which) and were all very comfortable and generously wide. The only thing lacking from the room was a safe. There were also some small cupboards in the room but they were locked shut, except for the one with the mini fridge in it, which we found strange. ||The hotel was very clean and modern and whilst the receptionists didn’t speak much English, they tried to be helpful and stored our luggage for free both on arrival and on our checkout day. ||There was also a guest lounge in the basement that had a hot and cold water dispenser, a toaster oven and a microwave. There weren’t any trays to put into the toaster oven, just racks, and whilst there were cups, plates, spoons and forks there were no knives. The toaster oven cooked a small pizza we bought at the local supermarket, which was very helpful! ||We didn’t eat at the cafe near reception, but it seemed to be very expensive for what it was, but was popular with young trendy locals. ||The hotel was in a nice quiet are and was about about 10mins from the Asakusa station that had a direct train to Narita airport for about 1500 yen each, which was really handy.
