Kaikoura Helicopters

Alex and Cal were both great guys. First booking was pushed back as the weather wasn’t great but luckily for me I was able to go the next day. The helicopter ride was fantastic - so so smooth and very comfortable. Kell was good at talking us through what was happening and where we were headed to find a whale. Great activity and would highly recommend.

I took the Kaikoura Helicopters Top n Tail Whale watching flight with my daughter. It’s an experience we will treasure for a lifetime. Seeing whales from the air has always been a bucket-list dream of mine, and Kaikoura Helicopters delivered it to perfection. We lifted off the beachfront helipad and the excitement kicked in. Flying over the Kaikōura Peninsula, then spotting a Sperm Whale surfacing between dives was truly magical. Unique and unforgettable. Landing in the snow on Mt Fyffe, standing there together surrounded by the rugged mountain ranges and sweeping ocean views, felt so surreal. Loads of photos taken and laughs had between snowball fights and snow angles. Our pilot, Kel was a fantastic, so knowledgeable, friendly, and made us feel completely at ease. Gayle in the office made the whole experience seamless. From whale encounters to the snowy peaks, this flight was the perfect mix of adventure, beauty, and once-in-a-lifetime moments. Took a 30min Whale Watch Heli flight with Kaikoura Helicopters. What a fantastic experience. Easy to book and the staff were great. Made me feel at ease for my first helicopter experience. The pilot was very experienced and found the whales quickly. He made sure that people on both sides of the helicopter got a good view of the whales, seals and dolphins that we spotted. I would highly recommend doing this trip while in beautiful Kaikoura.

It was a great experience. Everything was great! Especially our pilot who was very Professional and had also a good sense of humor. And finally he found and showed us wonderful wale as well. It was all just great.

Pilot had good understanding of the individual whales and their habits, and was therefore able to take us to see a sperm whales when he knew it would give us maximum viewing time. Just superb!

We decided to do this a bit last minute as we were due to do the whale watch by boat the day before but were warned it was a bit rough and as 2 of us get sea sick we cancelled this. I was extremely nervous having not done a helicopter flight before. We were late taking off as they try to time when the whales will surface next if any are in the area. Aaron?? gave us a Pre flight briefing. Once we took off I felt very relaxed, Kell our pilot was great, explaining everything and we were lucky enough to see 2 sperm whales on the surface at different times which was amazing. We also saw several large pods of Dolphins who were having fun flipping in the air. It was a fantastic experience, felt very professional and I would definitely recommend it.

Aaron was a wonderful pilot! My fiancee and I booked the picnic landing and couldn't have been more satisfied with the experience. The food was impressive and complete with cold drinks. The service was excellent, and they called us to move our flight up due to oncoming weather. They were proactive, responsive, and very friendly. Thanks so much!

My partner and I did the Heli-picnic mountain tour during our visit to Kaikoura. We were beyond impressed with the experience. Aaron was an amazing pilot and his commentaries during the flight was brilliant and informative. The views of the mountains and ocean were spectacular. The team made sure to cater to our needs and the food that were given to us was delicious. Aaron also made sure to give us our alone time during the picnic and my partner found that this was the perfect time to propose to me. The whole setting was intimate and memorable.
