Kaikyo View Shimonoseki

The view of the channel and bridge were exceptional. I liked that each room had its own balcony, which lets you bring the outside into the comfort of the room. Just note the furnishings are pretty old. The rooms were honestly quite basic, but they were large and had all the amenities that we needed including even slippers, muscle massaging tool etc. The hotel has a public bath, for those wanting a warm soak. We drove and so it was easy for us to get there. But if you don't drive, I imagine it may be difficult to get there. Hotel breakfast was Japanese style. And I thought it was just so-so. They have toast at least for those wanting a more Western style breakfast. The staff were honestly surprising. It wasn't a big luxury chain hotel, but the front desk staff made an effort to speak in English with us. We appreciated it.

My wife and I attended a wedding in Shimonoseki in October and the Japanese bride arranged that we stayed in this hotel. It is situated on the outskirts of the town, a 5 minute drive from the centre, or a 30 minute walk. It is situated on a hillside overlooking the Kaikyo Straits, with great views over the busy waterway between the main Japanese island Honshu and Kyushu.||||The hotel staff was extremely friendly and helpful, although only a few spoke English. The bedroom consisted of 2 large single beds, a toilet with a separate wetroom shower and bath. Air conditioning, safe, tea making facilities, fridge and a balcony are available. Bedding and towels were changed on a daily basis. The hotel has an onsen - there is a large hot water pool, with a separate smaller outdoor covered hot water pool, and a sauna available. There is no facility for swimming.||||No details of pricing was available on the website in advance of our trip, but the cost for bed and breakfast was JPY 16,700 yen per night for a couple.||||Wifi is free and only available in the hotel lobby, not in the bedrooms.. There are also a couple of vending machines for beer and soft drinks. Hot drinks are available in the hotel lobby.

This hotel is a hidden gem with its view of Kaikyo strait. The stay comes with dinner and all you came at breakfast with western and Japanese food selection. We stayed during off peak season and so bath were empty and service was just enough. (Older inn tends to be more service oriented but this is a national facility. So no frill service but just right.

Fantastic location to enjoy the view of Kanmon bridge. Services were also satisfactory & price were very competitive.

Great bath house, hotel and restaurant with excellent service. Good prices, even specials on the best massage therapy I've ever had.

ふぐ唐揚げ最高でしたー!!ビールによく合う。2025年8月のお値段ですが、これで880円は絶対お得！このためだけにまた来たいかも!!眺めも最高ですねー。レストランの雰囲気もゆったりして、福岡市内や東京と違って狭苦しくなく、いい気分でお食事ができました。本当にありがとうございました！！

車椅子介助が必要で事前に相談した所、電話対応に当日の入口側の駐車場の確保等とても安心して対応頂けました。車椅子も貸していただきバリアフリーの施設にとても満足でした。年末限定のランチをいただきましたが家族4人で楽しく美味しく過ごす事ができました。フリーの飲み物も充実しててありがたかったです。ロビーにあるカフェも利用しましたが綺麗な景色にとても満足でした。また利用させてください、ありがとうございました。
