The growth of grassroots tourism in Malang, Surabaya - SilverKris
"A leafy heritage neighbourhood dating back roughly 150 years, this compact area preserves squat Dutch-era double-storey buildings and narrow lanes that feel cooler and quieter than the surrounding city. Home to some 750 families, the enclave hosts small shops selling jamu and batik, boutique stalls, European-style lamp-posts and a lively wet market now popular with visitors; wayfinding signs (mainly in Bahasa Indonesia) help tourists explore the area on foot, and a modest entrance fee (about IDR5,000 / S$0.48) has helped stimulate the local economy as residents develop basic hospitality skills." - Vanessa Tai

Kojoetangan is a beautiful traditional heritage village. Walking through its small pedestrian alleys evokes a deep sense of nostalgia — it's like stepping back in time.

Entrance fee is only 5000 rupiah and you will also get a postcard. Actually, this is a neatly arranged local housing complex, there are some small cafes, and also some nice spot where you can take pictures. It's located in the city center.
