My family and I came on a Friday night to celebrate Mother’s Day and it was super busy! It’s a good idea to make a reservation, we were able to get a good table. The food was great, our host Christina was super friendly! We really enjoyed our meal and will definitely come back again!

Google
I came here on a Saturday night and it was busy busy! But their service was still quick and friendly! Sushi was fresh, they have a special menu on weekend but its only 1 order per person, I think it is because they are more expensive. I got the scallop sushi and it was phenomenal. Their skewers and tempura are also a must try! Super tasty and tbh their pricing is cheaper than other ayce in toronto. RECOMMEND!

Google
Their sushi platter is one of the best ones I've ever had! The fish was incredibly fresh and I really appreciate their creativity in torched sushi! Usually at other restaurants, their either put too much rice or it is too sour, but KAKA sushi's is perfectly seasoned. In terms of the pricing, it is an surprising cheap option compared to other restaurants in Markham. Their sushi platter is also a great choice for family gatherings! Last time I brought it, it was gone in minutes! If you ever are craving sushi and are in Markham, this is definitely your best option! Will go again!

Google
Not bad, but far from being the best AYCE places I’ve been to. The salmon oshizushi is the best dish here (and it’s quite refreshing and tasty). I did not like most of the other snacks/appetizers. The soy sauce they give out is quite nice doe - I wonder if it’s home made. It has a very in depth flavour of bonito/dashi. I’d come back not for the AYCE, but cheaper alternatives for rolls to pair it with their soy sauce. Service was very mid. Vibe was meh, like other big ayce restaurants.

Everything we ordered was really good. They were very tasty. My new favourite Japanese restaurant. In fact, I'm going back again this week. 😅

The food is good, service is quick. I specially like the cheese wontons and the chicken skewers! Very delicious and made fresh

Google
Pretty solid, straight forward AYCE sushi spot. Service is very fast. It's not the best I've had but this place is reliable in terms of quality and service. My only issue is that the menu is a bit limited.

Yelp
I came during lunch hours and it wasnt that busy. The service was quick and they came to clean the table every now and then. The food was good. The special roles were butterfish and salmon. I recommend thecsalmon it was good. The takoyaki is meh but the food overall was contentful and for a reasonable price. It was a nice chill place to eat.

Yelp
I can't say we enjoyed our experience here as the quality of the fish was severely lacking. I know, I know, it is an AYCE, but with this kind of price tag, I expect the sushi to be at least mediocre. From the flavourless miso soup and mildly fishy smelling sashimi, everything we ordered had just slightly too old to be fresh feel to their food. After paying $150ish for dinner for 3, we vowed to pass on trying out any more AYCE sushi for a long long time.
google avatar

Cynthia Y.

Yelp
For a Japanese AYCE restaurant, the quality is pretty good and fast. This is important as some Japanese ayce either delay you when you ordered sashimi or bring you partial amounts of your order. Currently kids eat free which is a bonus

Yelp
Been here a few times and decided to finally do a review. This place can get very busy so it's better to make a reservation. The service and food has always been great. The food is fresh and it's always a satisfying meal. Their all you can eat menu has many items to choose from. The price is decent. Would definitely return the next time I'm craving for AYCE.

Yelp
I came on a Monday late afternoon, early evening, ~5-6pm with a friend. There was no one inside when we came in. A few tables started to fill over the course of dinner, but never got more than half full. I can't do AYCE sushi like I used to, but this one was good because: 1. At most places, when you order, you never get the full amount: they always "forget" to serve it to you. It took quite a bit of time for them to serve everything but they definitely served everything. When we realized we probably ordered too much, we were kind of eyeing the servers praying it wasn't for our table. 2. Quality of fish: I feel like a great indicator is when you order squid nigiri. Many places, it tastes really fishy or when they blanch it, they overcook it so it ends up as a rubbery texture. The one here was easy to chew and swallow, no ocean flavours. 3. Small pieces: for AYCE, I actually prefer smaller pieces, because they're easier to go through. Serving in large portions, especially with a bad rice:fish ratio just means I order less. My favourite orders of the evening were the baked mussels (it had a clam chowder cream to it), the squid (Ika) + butterfish + torched beef + salmon nigiri, the beef wrapped vegetables. Service was direct, to-the-point. Nothing outstanding or over the top. Music selection was so good. I always really love when restaurants play music I like. Overall, I recommend this place as a solid option for reliable AYCE sushi.

Yelp
Loved this place! Huge fan of the eel, smoked salmon, tuna, and beef enoki. Service was a little slow but the Saturday dinner crowd was huge. We luckily did not need to wait for a table. Ambiance seemed fun and casual - saw lots of families and couples dining out here. Even the dessserts were fun and varies - highly recommend the passionfruit yogurt. Would go again

Yelp
I remember when Kaka first open in the downtown location, I really enjoyed it as the quality was decent and food was good. I came to the Markham location recently, and I feel like the quality has gone down over the years. The sushi is honestly just mediocre at best. But I'm surprise to see it is still quite busy! I do like their range of selections though!! But I don't know if it's a place I'll frequent.

Yelp
When this place opened up, it was raved and reviewed as the best AYCE sushi you can get. I think it's because they offered "Aburi" style sushi, and the quality was pretty decent. Now that the quality of options in Markham has gone up, it's more on the average side of things but I think it's still pretty good all things considered. Plus, they recently had a health code violation and when things get bad, places usually overcompensate afterwards to get back in the public's good graces, right?? Firstly, I'm still a huge fan of the Aburi style sushi. This is what I'm here for. The torched stuff on rice. So simple, but so good. Maybe I'm just old now and don't like my things completely raw, but I really like the way they do it. The squid one with the yuzu sauce on top is supreme. Things do tend to be on the saucier side which is delicious at first but gets heavy quickly. Same thing with their special rolls. Otherwise, the menu is pretty standard all-you-can-eat. On weekends, they have specialty menu items that all guests can order one of. There's some good stuff on there like salmon roe and monkfish liver. I'm not sure if they are as busy as when they first opened but when I went during the weekend, it was packed. And when I went on a Tuesday at 4PM, there were at least 3-4 tables eating early dinner with me. Still pretty popular, I'd say.

Yelp
This is an all you can eat sushi restaurant, with no option to choose a la carte menu. This is right in the Markham Place and one of the most busiest parking in the area. I do not necessarily choose a restaurant because of parking, but because of food quality and reputation. I will only complain about parking when I am dissatisfied with the food or the service. Or both. You get a tablet to choose from a variety of sushi, appetizer and desert items. It seems that the selection has shrunk from what I would normally have expected. I think that the fish and sushi items on the menu are well within acceptable minimum, but there seem to be a limited selection for beef. This does not really bother me today as I was just craving for Sushi. Tomorrow might be a different story. I am more than happy with the quality and freshness. By freshness, I mean the degree of excellence in terms of appearance, texture, odour and flavour. Totally acceptable. The orders seems to flow well, and not everything dumped on your table all at once. It looks like all items we ordered were fulfilled at the work order line item, leaving nothing on back order. Desserts came exceptionally fast. Atmosphere was casual, just a tad loud. I normally drive around with a driving licence, a credit card and my phone. Fortunately, today I had my debit card on me, as they only accept cash or debits. Otherwise, I might have ended in the kitchen washing dishes to pay back. Will come back again.

Yelp
This sushi place is the worst restaurant I've ever been to. Anything that could go wrong with a restaurant, is going wrong here. First of all, it's located in the worst plaza. Lots of traffic getting into the plaza and even if you do, good luck with finding a parking soot less than 1-minutes walk away. Secondly, they have the worst customer service. And why should their staff even try to be nice? Cause mandatory 15% tip included in the bill, whether you were satisfied with the service or not. The staff are very rude; they yell at you; they don't pick up the empty plates from your table and even when they do, they throw the plates in the bin with a very loud noise that hurts your ears! The lunch menu options are very limited and when the food is served, it's very cold. The shrimp tempuras in the maki rolls were very cold. The ingredients weren't fresh and very oily. I would recommend everyone to stay as far away from this place as possible. It's not worth it at all!

Yelp
This Markham location used to be very good. Kaka AYCE Japanese cuisine was one of the first buffet-style restaurants to offer aburi nigiri, torch pressed sushi which was generally reserved for upscale Japanese à la carte restaurants and not usually included in buffets. With an Izakaya-like menu to supplement the sushi, sashimi, udon soup and tempura menu, they became known for serving skewers and desserts. The best part was their dessert selection. Our table sampled mango, red bean and matcha ice cream, crème brûlée, panna cotta, and dark chocolate custard. For this reason my family would dine here for birthdays and family celebrations. But food and service this time was not the same as it used to be. One server was very curt in responding to customers and was yelling off to the side, which was tacky considering the cost of the meal was about $50 per person not including drinks. Other servers were more courteous and polite. We were served the wrong orders due to a mix-up and when it was brought to their attention, staff tried telling us that we ordered it and would not take the food away. Not wanting to waste good food we ate it anyway, consider it bonus sushi? With the items we did order, some items never arrived. Maybe the mix-up allowed another table to be served our order as bonus sushi too? We laughed and were good about it.

Yelp
My husband took me here for my birthday and I was so excited because of the reviews. We came here around 1pm and as soon as we walked into the doors, we were not seated - the host told us last call for all you could eat was at 2:30pm. It doesn't take us that long to eat but ok, we got seated - waited like 5 minutes for water and 10 minutes for any server to come confirm our order... There was so many servers but they were all trying to avoid doing the minimum of servicing... We were already in a good mood and had plans to go to the blue jays game afterwards so we kept shrugging it off. At least we were eating finally after skipping breakfast and lunch all day. We had to ask for ginger three times after other servers kept forgetting it and after our handrolls and sushi was delivered they finally gave us a pile of ginger. After 2 rounds and more people kept coming in, they did last call at 2:00pm on a Wednesday and rushed every single table's bill to them. I was so frustrated with their lack of service that we didn't bother to order desert and left. How does that make any sense? Telling everyone last call is 2:30pm - pushing people to order before that and pushing us out the door before 2:30pm? This is one place that we will stay clear from. There are far better sushi places with better service anywhere in Markham and Richmond Hill. The table beside us haven't even cleared the food dishes on the table and the servers were rushing to give their bill. Everyone was under the impression like why are we being shooed out when we are the paying customers and mind you they close at 3 not at 2:30pm. I enjoyed the food here. It was delicious, good quality and the wasabi shrimp and their spicy salmon handroll is the best out there but with the lack of service triumphs the whole bad experience. My husband tried to make me feel better by taking me to the Winners there afterwards but I was pretty upset. The food was amazing here, loved the décor - it was beautiful but the whole service vibe just puts a bad taste in your mouth. Why are we paying for premium AYCE and being pushed out before last call? They were pretty much ignoring customers yet cleaning counters and walls before 2pm... Stay clear of this sushi place, this place will rob you of your money and push you out the doors before you get a chance to enjoy the food. You can expect a better experience at that all you could eat sushi place at Sushi Kiku in commerce valley beside captain boil. Same prices, same food and FAR better service! Save yourself from ruining your food experience. Sorry but not sorry.

Yelp
First time having all you can eat in a while, overall a good experience! Visited on a weekday with a group to celebrate my friend's birthday and was seated almost immediately (around 7:45 PM). Service was prompt and accurate. Great selection of items including hot kitchen items to sashimi to of course my favourite TORCHED sushi. Dessert selection here is pretty good too. Pricing has consistently gone up over the years. Inflation + post pandemic = $47 after tax and tip on a weekday / person. Definitely on the pricier side, but nice for an occasion out with friends

Tess G.

Yelp
Food were sooooo good! It's like you're eating in Japan! Melt in the mouth tuna, and everything I tried is really highly recommended! The place is good not too big but with good ambiance just a good vibes to enjoy every food they serve and not being annoyed by other customers noise. Parking lot not a problem! Not too expensive but enjoyed quality of food they serve

Yelp
So much more worth than any ol' regular all you can eat sushi place. The variety at Kaka is so much better and different than other places, and for a slightly cheaper price too. Kaka is definitely the spot. Downtown has a nicer ambience but downtown markham's location was much more homey. Their plating is definitely cared for, you can tell. And the portions were perfect, we felt completely satisfied and not overfull (which was good!)

Yelp
pretty much your average AYCE sushi place topped with iPad ordering, a large selection of sushi, and sides. For this location, it was about $40 for a dinner. My favourite of all the dishes was the selection of torched sushi that was available as well as the specialty rolls. You get 1.5 hours on seating but ordering requires you to wait for the staff to 'approve it' before it goes through which is a downside. Another criticism is that the rolls were pretty fragile and fell apart when you tried to eat them. Overall, I think it's about what you'd expect from any AYCE sushi place. 3.5/5 stars.

Sheryl L.

Yelp
It's an all you can eat, and overall for an all you can eat you can't expect very much. Haha. I went in with very low expectation (especially with that name) :P There was a slight wait the hostess put my name and said it would be a 15 mins wait. It ended up being 10 min wait only which was a good start. We then sat down and was given an ipad to order, the only annoying thing when ordering is you have to press the call for help button for them to place the order and have it go through. Surprisingly the food came out really quick and the food was decent. The sashimi's were good wasn't rubbery or smelly. They had a variety of sushi platter that was torched. (Very good) The dessert list had more options than the any other all you can eat sushi place i've been too. They had the usual ice cream, there was fried banana and different types of pudding. (The fried banana and the passionfruit pudding was BOMB)! The waitresses was very attentive for water and the plates that needed to be taken away. Overall I would definitely recommend going for the price your paying it's worth it. (just don't have too high of expectations) hahahaha

Yelp
I've been here a few times. There is a wide selection of food. The food usually comes out hot and fresh. This place accepts debit and cash only. The service is alright, waitresses come to your table when you have inputted your orders. The iPad they give is not clean, you can see streaks of sauce on the screen from many customers, make sure you bring sanitizer for your hands after ordering. Many items are wrapped with rice unfortunately which fills your stomach quick, but food is still good. I was quite upset to find an article online saying the restaurant has a few health violations May 12. I was lucky I didn't get sick few days after I went to eat though. The restaurant decor is nice to look at, it adds to the experience of eating.

Yelp
This has quite a few differences from the downtown outlet. You order using an iPad, not paper. You get hot green tea, not iced water. And the menu is quite different, though unfortunately smaller (and also less creative, though this place is still more special than the average AYCE sushi place). Most AYCE places have large/largish portions for carb dishes, but they aren't too big here. Eel fried rice was really good and very fragrant. Unfortunately beef fried udon was bad: flavourless. Fried mix vegetables was good though as it was well fried. This being a weekend there were weekend specials (limited to 1 per person). Ikura salmon tartar (fish eggs on rice) tasted like good quality premium sushi.Gold dust roll was great - caviar, eel & foie gras on top of other stuff. Besides using premium ingredients, it tasted good. I ordered a buffalo wing for fun and it actually came with sauce that was legit, tasting of (and looking like) Frank's hot sauce. The creative makis here were OK, but at the downtown outlet they are awesome. The desserts were decent. Pineapple passion fruit yogurt was very good - creamy & very flavourful. Lichee panna cotta was ok - a bit firm. Dark chocolate custard was potent - good if you like dark chocolate. The ice creams had almost no ice crystals unlike at the downtown outlet.

Susan S.

Yelp
Unfortunately last night I got severe food poisoning a few hours after eating there. I was vomiting / diarrhea all night still trying to recover. It's hour 15 now and knocked out. I missed that Kaka failed a food inspection in 2023 due to poor pest control and cleanliness. My partner said last night bathrooms very dirty

Yelp
I've been to KAKA before the pandemic and after the pandemic. KAKA is a good ayce Japanese restaurant. Before the pandemic I would say everything was great! It is known for its OSHIZUSHI(pressed sushi) and torched sushi which are well thought out and delicious. Some are tangy, rich, citrusy, deep, umami. This rating is just for the takeout during the pandemic. I'm not sure if it's because of the pandemic or not but I would say other then those items the sashimi did not taste very fresh... My family and I ordered the items below. Appetizers A03 SEAWEED SALAD $3.49 A20 SHRIMP TEMPURA (4PCS) $5.99 SASHIMI + SUSHI + ROLLS G02 60PCS SASHIMI: SALMON (5PCS), BUTTERFISH (5PCS), TAI (5PCS), SURF CLAM (5PCS). SUSHI: SALMON (2PCS), TAI (2PCS), BUTTERFISH (2PCS), KAKA SIGNATURE (6PCS). ROLLS: CALIFONIA (8PCS), CUCUMBER AVOCADO (6PCS), SPICY SALMON (6PCS), CHEF FRANK SPECIAL (8PCS). $49.99 E02 30PCS SALMON (7PCS), TAI (5PCS), BUTTERFISH (5PCS), RED TUNA (5PCS), SURF CLAM (5PCS), SHRIMP (3PCS) $31.99 Overall, I would order the torched and pressed sushi again and probably order sashimi elsewhere. Maybe when it's open again everything will be great again. Looking forward to coming here and changing my rating.

Ava L.

Yelp
Came here with a larger group of people over the weekend and overall was a good experience. As someone who doesn't eat a lot of sushi there was a lot of other options for me and food was pretty tasty. We ordered some items that didn't come and they didn't really tell us what was what when bringing it to the table making it quite hard to know who ordered it in a larger group. The service was good and price was $48 on weekend for dinner which is a bit on the higher end but overall decent.
google avatar

Joan T.

Yelp
This AYCE is definitely a bit more pricey but it's always crowded and we always leave full (the handful of times we've visited). I like that they have a varied menu to choose from so it's actually quite nice to go with a large group of people. There'll be something for everyone. Their cooked beef with garlic is amazing. No other location does it perfectly like they do. I've yet to order an over cooked portion. The sushi on the other hand is iffy. The torched sushi and more creative rolls are great, but each time I've visited, it's been a weekday and the sashimi was disgusting. Our sashimi this time was warm and really looks like it's been hanging out for far too long. I couldn't even get myself to eat it. We left most of the plate un touched. Even the imitation crab was looking sad and that's not even raw fish. The service was great. Friendly and fairly quick. I will say though that a debit/cash only rule is really annoying for many people. For that reason, many of my friends choose not to go here. I personally have another location in mind that fulfills all that I look for in an AYCE so I'm pretty much just here if someone else chooses it. I like the food, I like the service. Definitely a solid choice so far for AYCE in the area.

Peter C.

Yelp
First time eating here. Food quality was disappointing. Portion size is way too small! Never seen a piece of sushi so tiny. Food selection is limited. Service is mediocre at best. Not a good experience.
google avatar

Anthony And F.

Yelp
Decided on this AYCE because they offer torched sushi and we wanted to see if it was worth. Clean , decent sized restaurant. Seats about 50-60. Service was fast and the ordering system was through an iPad. Honestly their selection wasn't that large and they had all the typical offerings of other sushi places, ie sashimi, hand rolls, tempura, green dragon, etc. They did have some items that stood out like their torched sushi and oshizushi which definitely made the experience more worth it. Weekday dinner was about $35 per person. I liked that when ordering, they came in small numbers. So the rolls were in threes, some speciality rolls in twos. This allowed us to try a bunch of different dishes without being wasteful. Keep in mind it was just the two of us so for a large group, this would be a hassle. Some items were just awful and felt microwaved. Baked muscle came out cold. Avoid that.

Yelp
Rated 2/5 because service was fast and friendly We went on last Sunday to try out this place. Unfortunately, I have food poisoning after having sashimi at this place. As usual, we ordered sashimi platter with the mixed of salmon, tuna, white tuna, ect... without being served wasabi or ginger with it, we had to asked twice, and I am not sure if I was given wasabi or something else since it was not spicy even though I had to mix more than half of the tbs in my soya sauce to get the taste. I guess this is how I picked up food poisoning from eating raw fish where never happened to me before at other places. I started vomiting, nauseous and stomach cramps with diarrhea since last night until now while writing this review. We will not come back to this place, the only good point that the service and waitresses was fast and friendly when considering this place was always busy. The dessert was really good but still... having food poisoning is not really a happy and pleasant experience.

Yelp
Pros: New restaurant, clean interior Lots of different menu items categorized on the Ipad menu Menu highlights (weekend specials): Monk fish, eel with black caviar, blazed salmon Food comes fast even when it's super busy Senior discount available Cons: Service: hard to catch waiters' attention Long waits as expected with new popular restaurants Free parking 1 weekend special item per person (Monk fish, eel with black caviar, blazed salmon)

Yelp
Expensive, yet not a lot of selections. I have been here before, and because I loved how they had so many grilled items (back then) and their torched sushi were so good, I have decided to come back years after and see if there were any changes, and boy, were there many... First change! Less items on the menu... I scrolled through the iPAD and I have noticed they have gotten rid of sirloin steaks, and my mother's favourite- grilled mackerel fishy! I have never ever been to an AYCE where they didn't have the mackerel fish, and I was most shocked about this one. Second change! More delicious choices of torched and pressed sushis. That, I was excited about. They still have a little grill/ charred flavour in your mouth and the rice were still kinda hot. Third change! Weekend special items... I liked how they have weekend only items and they were ones that I normally didn't get a chance to eat- scallop sushi and grilled eel sushi with gold flakes (sounds expensive). But what I dislike about this was the amount of order you were allowed (wait for it......) ONLY ONE ITEM PER PERSON!!! Not one each per person, it's ONE option ONLY. That's it, no more for the day. Overall, I would not comeback when I have to pay more yet getting way less then what I could order.

Yelp
Taking out is just as good as dining in! Due to covid, we could only take out. I didn't even mind because the food was amazing. We ordered the following: Torched/Pressed sushi (variety): 10/10. All the flavours hit the spot! This is a must order if you come here. Green Dragon Roll: 10/10. Well done. Made fresh! Can't wait to come here again when this pandemic is over. Customer service was good. We had a pleasant experience with the employee. She was accommodating in giving us extra ginger and soy sauce.

Yelp
Came to kaka for a birthday dinner and was seated quickly with a reservation. Parking is a disaster in this mall so come early! The service here isn't too bad. They speak mostly English surprisingly - don't react very much when you speak Chinese to them. You sit down and order from an iPad. They have an array of different dishes, sushi, sashimi, torched sushi. The quality of the food isn't bad but wasn't as good as it used to be. Word on the street was that they had recently changed management. Food wise, they have a weekend special that you can order, one order per person in the party. They have 4 choices to choose from, so if you plan on sharing those specials good luck. The best of them are the scallop sushi (sweet and delicious) and their special eel caviar roll thing. Off the menu, the grilled Saba and their tempura is amazing. The torched sushi is supposed to be what they're known for. Personally it's way too much mayo for my taste. Their salmon and tuna carpaccio was also very good. Dessert wise the pineapple passion yoghurt and the lychee Panna cotta. For $34 + tax.... I'm indifferent. There's definitely better places around.

Yelp
Ate here for the first time in a few years and had a good experience. It was a Thursday night, but still pretty busy. We were able to make same day reservations and were seated quickly. The service was much better and faster than I remembered, which stands out from many other AYCE sushi restaurants. We ate a bit of everything, but wanted to comment on a few: -Get the torched sushi!! We tried all of them and didn't have a complaint about any of them. This was our favourite part of our meal. -The sashimi pieces are VERY small, so you probably want to order more. -Spicy salmon and spicy tuna rolls/handrolls weren't that "spicy". -They didn't have mango yogurt or mango ice cream like many other AYCE restaurants have. -Weekday price for adult is $30.99 (debit or cash only). Overall, it's a good place to go if you get the torched sushi and are big eaters like us. Would recommend if you're in the area.

Yelp
Located in a busy shopping center, it was hard to find parking. There was a wait when I arrived at 7:45 on a Sunday night but they turn over tables pretty quickly. I was disappointed to find that they didn't offer many of the items that were listed on their website. Their fish selection is pretty limited, with maybe 5 varieties. It didn't taste bad but it wasn't the best quality fish. All the portions are pretty small too - I was disappointed by size of the oxtail skewer that came out. For the price they charge for weekend AYCE ($33.99 + tax) and the limited options on their menu, I likely won't return.

Yelp
Bought take-out from them recently. Price is alright, food quality is fine. Overall it is good, I will order from them again. Not happy that the staff didn't tell us there is a 10% off if you pay by cash.

Yelp
I decided to go here for my birthday. One note if you come here for lunch you don't get sashimi and torched sushi it is only for dinner. If I knew I would do the dinner. Lunch dont have that much varieties. We made reservation and you only get two hours limit. The service is kind of slow so the time you put the order in the tablet the time is sort of up. Thank goodness we order a lot of else it will take forever for them to put the order. The sushi is ok. Nothing special. I will probably try a different place next time.

Yelp
The experience was disappointing overall. The food wasn't fresh, the selection was limited, and the prices were high. Not the best value for the money.

Yelp
Very good food, tasted great, serve was quick and the waitress was always near by to help when we needed.

Yelp
OK food and service. However, service charge of 15% without notification as well as credit not accepted. We were told after the dinner that cash or debit only.

Yelp
I used to love going to Kama for their AYCE dinners. Since covid that is what I miss most. Unlimited sashimi + torched/pressed rolls! Luckily they have a takeout menu! I usually get this platter as it has all my favourites in one!

Yelp
Went to lunch at Kaka in Markham because I've been hearing and seeing a lot about it lately. I was intrigued by the torch pressed sushi as part of the AYCE options and loved that they had an entire tataki section on their menu (beef tataki is my favorite part of any AYCE sushi experience). I should have known I'd be disappointed when I walked in and there was no beef tataki on the menu. In fact, a lot of things on the online menu weren't being offered in the restaurant which I assume was because we went for lunch and not dinner but at no point is it noted on the website or otherwise that lunch has fewer options. Plus, lunch is only a few dollars cheaper per person based on their dinner price online ($34.99/person for dinner versus we paid $31.99/person) and I think a lot of options were sacrificed to save such a small amount of money. Despite the lack of beef tataki, we decided to stay. At least they had slightly torched beef sashimi and tuna/salmon tataki available as substitutions. We ordered two rounds of food and each time it took more than a half hour got our stuff to arrive. A couple times we debated replacing our orders but worried everything would come at once and we'd be drowning in food so we waited. Despite being able to eat more after the second round of food, we decided we'd rather not wait another half hour to see anything and went for ice cream instead. With that said, I gave the restaurant 3 stars because the options they do have are good. The fish is quite high quality which is one of the only things that justifies their above average price tag and their torched sushi is a fun and tasty addition to the More commons menu items.

Yelp
Updating to three stars...Customer service responded, which I appreciate. "Hi Johnny, We are sorry that our food is not up to your standard. Please accept apologies regarding above issue. We already report to the management office, were you there yesterday? Your opinion is important to us! Your sincerely, KaKa all you cane eat customer service" This is what restaurants should do to better themselves if a negative comment has been reported. This is truly a satisfactory response. For Kaka All You Can Eat...Please do ensure that whatever food is supposed to be hot remain hot such as the fried dishes which we ordered this Saturday. I know that you are a busy establishment but management should have better coordination of their employees. I wish you the best of success. Cheers!

Yelp
Quite a good place for AYCE, but take note that this is a restaurant selling Asian fusion. While the fish is fresh and tasty, don't expect a variety of fancy sashimi - instead, you'll find aburi (torched) sushi and pressed sushi. When we went, Kaka was doing their featured special weekend menu. Each of us got to choose a dish we wanted. My dad and I got the monkfish liver, my mom ordered the Hokkaido scallop nigiri, and my sister got the salmon tartare with salmon roe. I was not a fan of the liver... It lacked all taste and was very much like spongey canned tuna. My sister thoroughly enjoyed her order, though she did complain that there was a bit too much rice. My family has quite a small appetite, so we weren't really able to order the same scale of spread as everyone else. That said, we did find some noteworthy items: - Lamb skewers (small orders, but very fragrant of cumin) - Grilled shrimp skewers (a little oily, but the shrimp is super crispy, to the point where you can eat the shell!) - Pressed salmon sushi (there smoked fish flavour is a little overwhelming, but the flavours are delicious!) - Salmon belly (can't go wrong with this delicious piece of fatty goodness) - Vanilla crème brulee (tastes better than the green tea one... Maybe that's why the portions are smaller) - Mango lychee slush (so amazingly addicting!) Some disappointments were: - Grilled squid (the sauce added on top was too sweet and overpowered the flavour) - Hand rolls (the rice to fish ratio was way overboard; there was too much rice) - Green tea crème brulee (interesting idea, but didn't quite deliver) Overall, the servers were quite good with ensuring all orders were served. That said, we found them to be quite understaffed - they had to run around frantically. Some orders were missed (e.g., my salmon avocado hand roll, which was a massive portion when it arrived - had a huge chunk of rice with two big slices of avocado), but it was fine for the most part. Still found the place slightly pricey, but totally worth it for my Mom's birthday dinner!

Yelp
There was an open table and waited about 30 mins to seat us, mean while the people that came in 20 mins later were seated at the same time. Longer than usual wait for food (I think they were preparing for dinner) which was fine but they forgot about our order. Service aside from the seating issue I. The beginning was good, food tasted good. Overall not a bad experience but not the greatest.

Yelp
I always look forward to Kaka All You Can Eat. There's a good selection of Japanese food that can be ordered through a touch pad. Unlike some other AYCE restaurants, you can get sashimi for lunch. The latest popular items are torched sushi that's so tender that they melt in your mouth. The food has always been fresh everytime i go there. Service is also pretty decent. They are always attentive. The only issue i have with Kaka is that sometimes we don't get the food we ordered, and have to remind the wait staff that we have been waiting for the items for a while. Besides that, going to Kaka has always been a pleasant experience.

Yelp
Poor quality food. Even tho I lowered the expectation of Japanese food since it's AYCE but some items are total embarrassment. The beef and enoki roll was so small, even my pinky finger is thicker. Torch sushi overcooked the fish. DO NOT order the beef with garlic and butter. It is absolutely disgusting. It looks literally like barf. Each piece of nigari, maki, sashimi were irregular shape and size. Fried rice were undercooked. Miso soup was luke warm. YES. It is luke warm. I guess the best part of the meal was the ice cream.

Yelp
Good value for money unfriendly staff .. yes UNfriendly .. like they're doing you a favor .. All in all mediocre .. Black pepper in most everything .. lamb and mushrooms ( separate dishes were filled with black pepper .. i'm sweating and sweating .. ) They don't offer a shower .. problem .. mediocre sushi for once it's fine .. especially if you have that occasional craving for rice and soya sauce .. these waitresses should get a crash course in hospitality and civility ... will not return the 3 guys behind the counter work hard .. I guess this place has a major management issue .. it's a shame PS i did not lose my temper .. left with a smile ..

Yelp
This place is edible. Definitely won't be back. Only ordered one round and decided it wasn't worth the effort or calories to order a second round. Everything was under-seasoned and just slightly off. For $40 a person the food should be better. Save yourself the trouble and go elsewhere.

Yelp
It's all you can eat sushi that's comparable quality to many a la carte places. I don't understand the hate.
