Kuramae is such an underrated place in Tokyo; cute cafes, shops abound with lots of character! This is one such place; a stationery shop offering customised notebooks. We each had notebooks customised with the covers, papers, spine and pen holders. Super cute, and the notebooks can be topped up with new papers for 300¥. 😍 We also browsed to our hearts’ content and bought a couple of pens with refills. 🥰

A5 Writing Tray in Sakura heartwood and Kuri is a poetic desk accessory by Kakimori. Visual and tactile are to to the fore and the detail is stunning... The association of Sakura and Kuri are mystical.. and this was a birthday present to myself.. Thanks Kakimori Tokyo PS The base of the pen-tray has an inward-sloping chamfer that says how attentive to practical detail the design of this accessory has been - the chamfer makes it convenient to lift the paper-tray by its base off a flat desk surface.

kakimori was a must on my itinerary and i’m so happy i went. the staff were so polite, and the atmosphere was calm. i made a custom notebook and purchased a fountain pen too. the selection of stationery was fantastic with so many brands and options. upstairs is a display of ink making and ink recipes. this was certainly a highlight of my time in tokyo.

I haven’t gotten to use my custom notebook yet, but designing it was a lot of fun. You can personalize front and back covers, paper inserts, the fastener, the coils, and additional embellishments for added fees. I paid a small surcharge to have the engraving done same day. There’s various price points scaled on quality to suit people’s budgets. Pens, ink, and the usual stationary supplies are also sold here if you wanted something pre made Personalized souvenirs are the best in my opinion. The staff here accommodated me well in English and were friendly and professional.

Beautiful. Unique. Free activities for kids and education for adults. Book binding, pen making, sketchbook creating, ink mixing analogue magic. It's pure joy for a designer or artist who loves the print world. Can be expensive but worth it. One thing to note, the pen purchasing process for their in-house pens is a little confusing. All pens, fountain or rollerball are bodies only. You need to buy ink separately. Ink creation is located upstairs. Sketchbook making is to the right (can be a long wait)

Incredible experience where you get to design your own notebook - from the covers, paper to the fastenings. All for around £20. Was such a beautiful shop full of the best quality products. Could have spent all day in here. A lovely touch - Whilst you wait for your notebook to be bound, they give you a little map with coffee shops nearby to visit. We went to Dandelion chocolate which was delicious.

This beautiful stationary shop offers a service of creating your own notebook, every piece of it customised by you. We got our custom made notebooks in 40 minutes. They are absolutely gorgeous!

Katamori came highly recommended by a friend who shared the love for writing and journaling… From the moment I stepped into Katamori, I knew I’d found a writer's haven. This unique stationery store is a treasure trove of intentionality and creativity. Each corner reflects an appreciation for the art of writing. I’ll get to that, but the highlight of my visit was meeting Aya whose hospitality instantly made me feel at home. After she stored the 3 items I had in my hand in a mini-basket, she struck up a convo with me about my Miami Heat Beanie. I could tell she was genuinely excited and learned she was a former college basketball player who had just visited Florida (my hometown) 2 months ago. Her passion for basketball as well as Kakimori and its products shone through every word. Even Katamori goes beyond the ordinary with its custom stationery and notebooks. The four-step customization process allows you to create a personal, unique journal for yourself, or a phenomenal gift… I didn’t get any custom journals (I prefer fully sewn bindings for a flat-laying, fully usable page), but the store’s attention to all other details was impressive. They had a nice selection of pens, a soft atmosphere, and some soft soothing music playing from a corner speaker. Tons of other nick nacks, desk items, writing accessories and tools that’ll enhance the writing experience… Products are a 10/10 and the shop experience was a 100/100. I spent an hour exploring the different options and left feeling creatively refreshed. Katamori encapsulates what I've come to appreciate about Tokyo compared to the US - attention to detail and curated experiences. It's a magical place for any writer, journaler, or friend who can appreciate high-quality stationery. I highly recommend visiting Katamori to experience it for yourself!
