Kala Hotel Boutique

Kala is perfectly located - near enough to all the shops / restaurants and beach the room was spacious, pool was great and owners were so kind - they have bikes and gave us good recommendations for restaurants. The common space is beautiful. This is a good find and best value for the area! We would have stayed another night if we could.

During our Uruguayan discovery trip, we were looking for a nice place to relax, out of the busy Punta del este. In the calm hills of La Barra, the Kala hotel was just perfect for that. The hotel is really beautiful, rooms are clean and spacious, with a nice small balcony, the pool area is just stunning and really enjoyable. It is 10-15 min walking distance to La barra main street and the nice Montoya beach. Better have a car if you want to explore the area and the others beaches - Parking at the hotel. Staff was nice and helpful - they complementary lend you beach chairs, umbrella and towels. Breakfast is correct, everything you need. We had a great time in La Barra and at the Kala. Will definitely stay again there !

Review from a kids point of view ||Me and my family walked into the hotel and immediately fell in love with the interior, it was calming and positive. The rooms were very spacious with an included balcony, so great to sit out in the sun and enjoy the view and ambience of the hotel. ||There was an outdoor pool and small grass area which was very easily visible from the hotel rooms with balcony’s. It was very child friendly and there were even a few seating areas outside which made it all very cosy and homely. The colour scheme of the hotel was mostly blue, white, and beige which reminded me of the beach. The music created a very soothing vibe which my family and I loved! 💗||The service is always important and Kala hotel outdid themselves. The staff was very kind and treated us very well, they told us about all the places to visit and where the best spots were for sightseeing or enjoying the divine cuisine. The hotel was close by to the beach and they provided umbrellas and chairs which was great, we visited the beach and it was beautiful! Kala hotel also had bikes which were free of charge and they were adjustable and child friendly! ||Thanks Mateo and Kala Hotel, See you again! 😁||

Lovely setting, resembling a hotel in the Greek Islands. Very nice pool and gardens, where we enjoyed watching several birds, including a hummingbird around the foliage close to our room. Comfortable rooms with balconies, several lounging areas around the hotel for sitting and relaxing. Excellent breakfast, including eggs cooked to order, fresh fruit, juice, yogurt, breads, tarts, coffee/tea.||When we were there,end of March, there was only one more couple staying. Reasonably priced and quiet during this time of the year.

Hotel is absolutely gorgeous. Clean, Large room, Nice pool area and clean products at breakfast. They have bikes you can borrow which is Nice as the accomodation is a bit out of town. There was also the possibility to borrow sunchairs which we unfortunately didn't need due to the rain.

What a great find here at la Barra ! Lovely clean, spacious hotel. Amazing swimming pool, lovely gardens etc. Feels like a home. Staff very attentive. Wifi good. Breakfast simple but very good. Highly recommended as in a quite area but still close to beach etc .

This is a lovely hotel with an onsite owner who is very responsive and available. Fantastic breakfast served in dining area or can be taken on the patio or porch. Immaculate throughout, easy parking and a very short walk to town or the beach.

Boutique hotels usually stand for small, sophisticated and sometimes snobbish hotels. ||Kala is nicely small, with great Mediterranean architecture and deco, spacious room. The non-boutique aspect is the relaxed and friendly service which makes you forget to n being at a hotel. ||I hope to visit this “friend” often in the future.
