Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge

We stayed for one night before we went back to Windhoek. It was a beautiful overnight stay, with 13 private chalets, each with a big patio and a waterhole view. Lot of Springboks, Elands, Zebras and Gnus were around. There are also some walking trails and a MTB trail. Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner and almost all Drinks are included in the price.||We had a very warm welcome at the reception and also all waitors are so friendly.

Our lodge was really really nice with a first class view of zebras and elephants and springbok...of course, their having a watering hole a short distance from our lanai helped. We were only here one night but....it was REALLY nice. The lodge had cooling/heating which we found to be a bit rare in our 3 week travels. The room was comfortable with a few complimentary items such as beer, wine, nuts and something elst...lol. Food was great as was the breakfast buffet.

As a first stop after a long haul flight, this place welcomed us graciously and with many luxurious amenities, but mainly extremely friendly staff members into Namibia. The houses are beautifully designed in a modern African style, open, bright and earthy. The old style pool table at the main wooden deck, close to an open terrace dining and breakfast area, was fun to use. One could enjoy a classic G&T, whilst waiting by the open fire place for a fantastic dinner under the stars. The waterhole attracts animals, without being too interfering with their natural habits. All in all we loved it for its was a perfect starting point to a life-changing trip through Africa.

Our only regret was not staying here for a bit longer. The accommodation, location, meals, service and amenities were all exceptional. A special mention to Joshua and Cinderella who went out of their way to be extra helpful. I recommend using the free-to-hire bikes and cycling over the sand, passing giraffes, a herd of wildebeest, eland, ostriches and springbok. Highly recommended.

We stayed at the Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge for one night whilst travelling around Namibia. The lodge isn’t too far from Windhoek which makes it relatively straightforward to get to.||Firstly, the rooms were outstanding. Rooms were large with a separate bedroom and living room area as well as an outside area. Each room has windows that look out into the desert where so many animals walk by. It was incredible to see various types of antelopes and oryx walk past from our own rooms - I could watch them all day!! The rooms were so spacious and just to have the view of the animals made it even more special. ||The food at the lodge is very nice and consists of a set menu at dinner time which is accompanied by complimentary drinks. Many drinks are included with the price of your stay, including all drinks in the minibar which was very convenient although a few drinks required an extra charge (despite this, the selection of included drinks was pretty impressive!!). ||Activities wise, we did the sundowner drive and I would highly recommend it. We were driven in an open top vehicle by our guide Etosha. Etosha was extremely informative and provided us with a memorable experience as we drove across the sand dunes observing wildlife. We then stopped on a dune and set up a table with drinks and snacks to watch the sunset with another guide and group. The sunset was incredible and overall the experience certainly was a memorable one. Driving back to the lodge was also a spectacle as the sky displayed many colours that you wouldn’t see in other parts of the world. ||Staff at this hotel were extremely friendly and helpful - I cannot remember specific names but all of the staff made the trip a worthy one. I would definitely recommend Kalahari Red Dunes Lodge!!

Visited in June. Namibia. Kalkrand. This was the first lodge we visited and it is located a two-hour drive from Windhoek in the Kalkrand district. Accommodation: The interior of the chalet is very stylish, with designer furniture and the room was very spacious. We appreciated that there was air conditioning inside, though the air conditioning struggled to warm the room on a cold day. Cons: We also would have liked it if toothbrushes were provided for the guests. The towels need to be replaced as they do not absorb moisture at all. Service: The service was excellent, and all staff members were very attentive and kind. Cinderella at the reception welcomed us and showed us around, and she was very friendly and helpful. Food: The lodge includes breakfast and dinner, as well as some beverages with dinner. Dinners consist of a set menu. The dinners were exquisite, everything was perfectly prepared and well balanced. Breakfasts are buffet style, and to us, breakfast seemed rather meager, the same every day. We would have liked to see more variety. However, it is worth mentioning that upon request, the chef made us a chicken dish for breakfast, which completely met our expectations. Conclusion: We enjoyed the spacious grounds and the chance to spot wildlife, including wildebeest, springboks, giraffes, and many birds. Overall, a great experience, just bring your own toothbrush and consider better towels.

Fantastic place in the Kalahari desert. Luxurious rooms, friendly staff, delicious food. Only here you can enjoy your morning coffee whilst watching giraffes enjoy theirs. Highly recommend!

Incredible stay. From the fact that it’s full of animals to the room and the staff. It’s a must to kick off your stay in Namibia. Shoutout to Antonio and the chef at the restaurant!||Didn’t do the the sunset safari but we did do the morning one. It was beautiful and our guide was really nice. He was determined to find some giraffes for us and he did - amazing!
