Airlines Are Trying to Cut Service to Small Airports During Coronavirus

AirZoo is one of the nicest, cleanest and friendliest small town airports I’ve been to. Conveniently located and easy to get in and out of. The Stephen Hansen papier mache artwork is a pleasant touch throughout the terminal.

Google
I fly in and out of this airport often. When using the on site parking ensure you choose the correct parking (ie: short term vs long term) i parked in the wrong spot and had to pay an unnecessary large fee due to being confused about the entrance. This airport is very small and basically a jaunt to a larger airport ie to DTW. I like the accessibility and navigation of this airport. A tip for international flights, this airport doesn't open until 5am so the two hours before your connecting flight isn't necessary if your leaving at 6am. You will be standing outside the airport waiting for it to open and the staff operates pretty quickly.

Natalya Kroupa

Google
Pretty easy to navigate especially being a smaller airport staff was helpful and straight to the point. I've no complaints. They also had cute art, that always makes me happy

Ericka Boney

Google
I almost missed my flight because the American Airlines agents decided to leave an hour before my flight departed. I had to take my checked bags through security and discard items that I wouldn’t have needed to otherwise. I’m in the military and was released from my unit late and shouldn’t have been inconvenienced because they couldn’t be bothered to be at the counter.

Jay Vanbuskirk

Google
When deplaning takes as long as the flight because they can't get a working jet bridge it's a bit ridiculous. Not the first time either. Kzoo airport is a dinky airport that runs like a dinky airport.

Don Pascual

Google
Small but they work with what they got. This place has more of a museum feel to it. They’ve decorated the place with a few historical/ancient looking planes and artistic status, appropriate for all ages. There is a coffee station you can access for a buck or so before going to the gates. Some eatery’s at the gates but wasn’t open when I came in. If your worried about dumping your water, they have a water fountain at the gates before boarding. 👌

Michael Coursey

Google
Convenient little airport that is normally very fast through TSA. The only issue I've had here is being stuck because the plane doesn't make it in from Chicago. Excellent snow removal (see pictures) - I've flown with over 13" on the ground.

Google
Easy airport, convenient, friendly staff, and clean! I would have no issues visiting this airport again and would recommend it to anyone looking for an easy connection to a larger airport or an easy in and out of the area.

Daryl E.

Yelp
While I'm usually a fan of smaller airports, this one did seem a little "behind the times" in a lot of areas. I would almost rather fly into Detroit and do the 2hr drive into the area.

Suzanne A.

Yelp
Loved this airport. Easy to get from car to gate! The checkin process was easy as was security. Everyone was very friendly and accommodating. Well except for the man at the coffee shop/gift counter closer to my gate. He did not want to be bothered. Actually annoyed at anything. But 1 bad apple isn't going to give this great airport a good review. Thanks for making the transition from landing to exit then leaving such a great experience. My only suggestion...you need more coffee stations and food. Had to wait to open. Also wanted to purchase a Kalamazoo gift but you were extremely limited especially when you go through the gate. Thanks

Bruce K.

Yelp
In and out this week through Kalamazoo was frictionless. It is definitely a smaller airport with only a few gates but they're jetbridges and that makes it world-class for me. Arriving was easy with a short walk from the gate to the baggage claim area where the rental car counters are located. A short walk from there (outside) to the rental car lot and I was on my way. It's a short hop to the highway and they have signs leading the way. Returning was similarly easy. Park the car in any spot and drop the keys. Check-in counters are not far away and then a quick pass through the TSA area and wait for the flight. There is a small shop post security, so I recommend getting your nibbles before you get to the airport. My Jimmy John's sandwich was perfect and cleared security just fine. The bathrooms are clean, there is plenty of waiting area and they have a free wifi. I'm a fan of AZO. [Review 11069 overall, 842 of 2019.]

Yelp
i have tried to fly out of Kalamazoo twice now in the past 3 months. BOTH times my 7am flight was delayed and eventually cancelled because of "maintenance" issues. It is supposed to be the first flight of the day and if the plane was checked overnight, would they not have caught the supposed "severe" issue and fixed it overnight? I've lost money and time with my family because of this airport and have received zero compensation from American (airlines issue) and I will never fly out of this airport again.

Anonymous M.

Yelp
The gal giving out our boarding passes could have sat me next to my wife, but didn't! So I had an empty seat next to me.

Cliff B.

Yelp
Excellent airport! Friendly efficient staff, easy in and out, beautiful facilities, clean bathrooms and a pleasant atmosphere. If you are looking for a mall, go shopping before you get here. You'll have plenty of time as you will only need to arrive an hour before domestic flights. There's plenty of good shopping nearby. Same thing regarding restaurants, however there are some limited food choices within the airport Terminal. I was dropped off in front of the airport, and I was checked in and at my gate in about seven minutes. Smaller airports have their advantages. I love the art work and statues that are placed around the airport. The artist has apparently met some of the same people I have. Too funny! I will certainly use this airport again! Great job, AZO!

Jason B.

Yelp
What a cool little airport. Cool vibes walking through here for sure & I do believe this is the first time I've ever been here How is that even possible . I love the art here as well & the detail is off the charts cool. I didn't see any restaurants that were open though so if your looking for food u might be out of luck during COVID-19.

Antonio R.

Yelp
Well...here I am again giving another chance to this airport as I started flying from GRR due to the amount of issues I have experienced here. Well, this morning after waiting for 3 hours my flight was finally cancelled. What a surprise! Sorry AZO... last time I fly from here...I'll better drive to GRR, DTW, MDW or ORD to get to my final destination RELIABLY!

Tai P.

Yelp
In the nearby vicinity I was actually doing an intro into aviation flight. Amazing experience. When it was over, I had to find some where to wait. So airport it was. I really think the art in the airport is super cool! I actually used the airport not too long ago to go to Chicago, then Japan. Very smooth transition. I did check in with some of the car service staff and asked them about Rentals. Some had better deals than others but cheap overall! I'll be back to the airport soon to rent on for a trip!

Yelp
This is my first time at the Kazoo airport and I am impressed with the customer service thus far. It's not the smallest airport I have been in but it is very clean and well lit. The public art is fun. The bathrooms are conveniently located and there is a little store/eatary with Kazoo gifts and the typical airport stuff and food. There is only one person working in the store but she is very friendly and efficient for getting up at 3 am this morning. Probably the only negative about this airport is the lack of trash bins (I can only find one).

Brooke L.

Yelp
Interesting little airport. I really enjoy it and it's also ALWAYS peaceful. It's also easy to find everything and it's just nice to have it right in town. I haven't had any problems with it and it's always clean. I have probably flown in and out of it 3 times. Tip: some trips are more pricey flying out of it but lately it has been cheaper to fly here and since it's so close. I love that!

Steff D.

Yelp
Talk about a place frozen in time! This really is like stepping back into the 1950's. The atmosphere, the decor, the simplicity... I've never seen anything like it in person before. Because of that, you're expectations should be minimal: you are coming to this airport to take a flight. Not for fine dining, not for comfortable lounges, not for any other amenity. Fly in. Fly out. Maybe get a drink and a burger at the lone store (a concession stand/restaurant combo that opens at 430am and closes whenever the last departure is), but that's it. AZO has just five gates in a small, but brightly lit terminal to house them in. Security is fast and simple. Unfortunately, the WiFi is tremendously spotty and the outlets aren't plentiful so that can make for a frustrating afternoon if you're trying to work. On the opposite hand, I've found the staff here to go above and beyond with hospitality: one time a flight was delayed to the point of cancelation, but as people waited the airport staff treated everyone to a drink and a snack to apologize (even those of us whose flights weren't affected). It's the little things, right? That would never happen at a major airport, but neither do the quantity of delays, I guess. For my needs (flying in and out of Detroit), it works just fine.

Daleena B.

Yelp
If a person could fall in love with an airport it would be with AZO. First time to Battle Creek area. The airport is easily accessible and easy to navigate. Full of colorful art and very helpful folks, it was a very easy check-in. Highly recommended.

Susie K.

Yelp
Many years ago when I used to fly into AZO, it was a much older airport with disagreeable staff. This is when I started to fly into ORD and drive up to Kalamazoo -- that's how much I hated the AZO airport experience. But many years later, my husband and I started to dislike the unpredictability of traffic flow into and out of Chicago, not to mention it was cutting into precious family time. So in the last year or so we started to fly into AZO. My goodness what a phenomenal change. The airport was not as I remembered it. It's unbelievably clean and looks great too. Everyone we encountered there, whether they were ticket agents, airline staff or TSA agents, were very sweet and helpful. So a few additional tips, because it is a smaller airport, there's no need to get there 2 hours before domestic flights. We got there perhaps an hour or so before and even with a slightly complex baggage change, we had ample time before departure. They also do have TSA pre-check there now.

Tuan T.

Yelp
They're freaking lazy. Wasting customers's time. There is no assistance available on time.

Mike T.

Yelp
This is the smallest airport I have been to in the US so far. 5 gates, nice and quiet, quick security line. Everything you want from an airport until you get to the gates. There is this one little gift shop that also does coffee, food and bar duty. I went because I was hungry. I should have eaten at the hotel. The service here was so bad I thought I was dreaming still. The two ladies behind the counter moved like snails. They spoke like they wished they were dead and i think the only thing that would have raised a smile from either of them would be if all the customers spontaneously committed Seppuku at the counter. This way they wouldn't have to serve you. One lady spilled her coffee on the table. The whole cup. She asked for a towel and was told - there are napkins on the tables. This lead to the staff bitching and saying "why is that my problem?" And "what a baby". I could t take ALL the airports stars away for this but man, this was terrible. This is the gateway to your city and these people represent it. I'm glad I'm on my outbound leg.

Yelp
This airport has really gotten a makeover since I used it last. I recently flew out of here to go to Houston as they were offering better fares from here than from Detroit. I never minded flying from this place as the facility is small and user-friendly. There are only three airlines that operate here utilizing five gates. The airport served just over a quarter-million passengers in 2014. It is extremely easy to navigate and is not at all onerous to use. The major downside is that there are only four or five destinations to which you can fly directly. My drive time to AZO is longer than to DTW but this place is easy to get to as it is right off I-94 three miles southeast of downtown. The approach is also stress-free as it is a quick turn off from Portage Rd. Parking is relatively plentiful and not too expensive. The interior appears much nicer than the last time I used the airport in 2000 or so. The face lift looks quite nice as it is replete with pleasing decor and some interesting art work. My favorite is the caricature statues in the middle between check-in and baggage claim. The check-in area is well managed and the baggage claim is also relatively easy to use. The departure gates and security are upstairs, reachable via escalator. Security is reasonably efficient as staffing does not seem to be a problem. The amenities are not really plentiful in this airport but there are a couple of places where you can pick up a coffee, snack or magazine. Pickup and drop off in front of the airport is facile. The transportation situation getting to and from the airport is a bit limited, however. Taxis are always available. City buses stop once an hour from 7 AM to 10 PM except Sundays and Holidays. You can at least get to downtown Kalamazoo using the local bus service. Rental cars are always available as the major agencies are represented at the terminal. In general, this is a great airport if you don't mind likely having to connect to get to your final destination. This facility makes the front and back ends of your trip so easily manageable that you don't mind the extra trouble of the connection. The amenities and ground transportation options are limited but there are not many airports where you can arrive within an hour of your flight with a likelihood to make your gate with little stress.

Jonathan T.

Yelp
I think KZoo's airport is the smallest I've ever seen. It has only six gates and the men's bathroom features only one stall and urinal. (That ain't a bad thing.) I also didn't have to wait at all to get through security; much love to the TSA agents being super nice! They have a small burger/ snack shop for food and... that's about it. Oooh, and there's a painting with the mayor of Michigan pointing to his hand showing where Kzoo is. I don't mind traveling through this airport.

Ericka G.

Yelp
The airport is small, 5 gates. TSA is usually not backed up. You may get selected for a random search, so be prepared. Also, TSA here does not do pre-check. Baggage comes out quickly and rental car booths are located directly across from baggage claim. There are no preferred marquis here. The rental car lot is an awkward walk across the street from the airport. What I love about this airport, aside from the fact that it's no hassle/ no stress, everyone is very much pleasant & down home. Also, there are huge bowls of candy everywhere. No seriously, everywhere.

Tristan H.

Yelp
I have a set of fairly low expectations when it comes to airports in general. But I like our hometown airport. This smallish airport (compared to, say, Detroit or O'Hare) is spacious and clean, is easy to get in and out of, the staff are pleasant and efficient, and the artwork is very cute. Short term and long term parking is easy. Details about arrivals and departures are the first thing you see upon entering. The food options aren't really important because I don't think people have layovers here. I come here to get a flight to Detroit, and from Detroit I go to NYC or Boston. Detroit is where the layover is. Detroit is where I want to sit and drink and read while the seconds of my life pass by.

Lisa S.

Yelp
Great service for a small airport. Very clean with friendly staff. The delta rep at check in was super helpful- Christopher. Unique artwork. I was glad to get here early to have a few minutes to enjoy it.

M S.

Yelp
I absolutely love this little airport. So easy for me to get flights to Detroit and then connect to just about anywhere. BTW, I love Detroit Metro airport just as much as I love AZO. The counter and gate agents are always friendly and the TSA agents are first class. Always friendly and never rude like at most other airports. From my point of view living in Kalamazoo, this airport is 5 Stars, but due to the awkward and inconvenient rental car setup I only gave it 4. I do come to the airport to rent cars, and I hate the setup they have here. The old airport setup was better when the cars were closer to the terminal. Now the cars are in an out lot you have to walk out to, not convenient in bad weather or if you have luggage or equipment.

Kalamazeus T.

Yelp
One of my favorite things to do is complain about airports.... try as I might, I can't think of anything to complain about here. Short lines, friendly staff and located in town. Thanks AZO for being you.... now please go and teach DTW and ORD how to act right.

Matt H.

Yelp
I have flown in and out of the AZO airport for years on business and I have seen some tremendous transformations occur. The terminal was completely changed over to a new facility a few years ago and it almost resembles a small aviation museum now, with full size planes dangling from the expansive ceiling like a model airplane in a little boy's room. Because Kalamazoo is a smaller airport, the staff has always been friendly and willing to accommodate you and your needs. I've never found the pace to be too hurried here and I often times get there way too early just to decompress and prepare for my week of travel to places unknown. Parking here is easy in and easy out, with no more than a 1 minute walk to from the terminal to your car. There isn't a parking garage, so your car will sit outside in the elements while you're away, but I suppose that is expected. If you're a traveler without a hot spot, they offer FREE wifi, which I think is almost unheard of in an airport! For this AZO, you earn 5 stars from me!

Kara M.

Yelp
Kalamazoo's a real city now. The new terminal just opened, and it's beautiful. I like coming home to it. My company gets a lot of out of town visitors. They used to make lots of jokes about our janky little airport, but they've actually been impressed lately. It's still small which is great for getting through security. Once you go to the gate, there's mini convenience store, a quick place to grab coffee or a snack, and a restaurant. I would love if all of these things had a greater selection, but I understand that we don't have the traffic to support that. I'll take AZO over glitzy (and nauseating) ORD or DTW.

Kay H.

Yelp
Check in was smooth and quick. The biggest negative was the men's bathroom. The toilets and urinal were filthy, one sink was broken, one sink wouldn't dispense water, and there was no soap in either dispenser. The women's bathroom appeared clean and there was no visible debris.

Cori B.

Yelp
I love flying into and out of this airport. Small airports are much more convenient and hassle free than international or larger airports. The only downside is that flights can be more expensive. However, this year I have been finding some great deals on flights into kalamazoo which caused me to rate this five stars. Parking is cheap and easy. There is no one to hound you about taking too long at drop off. I also find that staff and TSAs are more friendly since they don't see as much travel traffic as the larger airports. Getting an Uber from here is also very convenient.

Samuel T.

Yelp
I flew from Japan to Chicago to Kalamazoo, MI., and the Kalamazoo airport though small didn't offer any issues, unlike the Chicago airport. Getting to the baggage claim was easy! I really like this little airport!

Angela O.

Yelp
Nice small airport, not much going on but very quiet and clean. Service is very nice! At least early in the morning it is! Has a small bar in the airport and a place to grab coffee!

Ed L.

Yelp
First time ever being in Kalamazoo for anything. Crazy how life can turn out, but I was here for the 2013 Borgess Run for the Health of It Kalamazoo Marathon. I only flew out from AZO back home via MSP and subsequently through LAX on Delta Airlines, so it was nice to visit Kalamazoo on this short, but important trip for my 50 States marathon journey. The Kalamazoo / Battle Creek international airport is a small regional airport, which services the city and communities of which it was named for. I myself would never thought of being in Kalamazoo, let alone Michigan, but I'm glad I was here. Basically the terminal was a large two story building, where the ticketing was on the first floor, the TSA security and the gates were on the second floor. There are a small handful of airlines that run service to Kalamazoo, but all of them are the regional partners of the US carriers. The airport was real easy to get into. I arrived at the airport at 6:45am that morning and managed to check in and get through security in 15 minutes just in time to see the elite fliers board ahead of me (zone 1). The airport itself is clean and its basically one way into your gate, so there is no way you can get lost! This airport reminds me of all the small airports in Hawaii and the Midwest, where it is impossible to really get lost, unless you want to be. Kalamazoo / Battle Creek international airport is spacious for a regional airport, but still sports the small intimacy of a small town airstrip that is great for those who want that instead of crazy busy in air travel. Your best bet would be to have breakfast before arriving at the airport for your flight, since options for food is really non existent. Being that AZO is a small airport, the only food shop is after TSA. With there being just 4 gates at this regional Michigan hub, the only food options here is just a corner store with bottled water and snacks, which are overpriced anyway. Airports normally are. I would imagine that the parking and parking rates are horrendous too, but I was dropped off by a friend, so I really couldn't comment on that. Overall, I think Kalamazoo is a nice place to visit and I'm sure Portage as well as Battle Creek as well. Flying here would be your best bet, but check with DTW Detroit or ORD for better deals, if you don't mind a drive. Quite an amazing place Kalamazoo turned out to be. Can't wait till I come back again soon. @ 35,000 feet A+

Ian T.

Yelp
I fly in and out of Kalamazoo Airport whenever I make it home to visit family. I do a great deal if traveling for work and this little airport is by far my favorite embarkation point. It's fast, clean, and has a lot of unique personality that embraces Kalamazoo's long history as an aviation Mecca. Skip Chicago, Detroit, and Grand Rapids - if you are flying into West Michigan opt for AZO!

Shane W.

Yelp
There's a lot of things the Kalamazoo Airport is not: It's not a place to get a meal, or go on a shopping spree, or shine your shoes, or possibly see another human being that works there, or see more than 5 gates. But wait, there's more. the Kalamazoo Airport is also not the place to: not want to touch anything, or have to take a tram from one gate to another, or have a 30 minute ordeal from the car, through security, to your gate Kalamazoo is small, and yeah, I too am a little skeptical about that "International" designation but with a nearly new terminal, only 5 gates, and one of the easiest in and out experiences in the country, I'm a fan. One suggestion though AZO, that weird 2 door gauntlet thing on the way out? you need a sign to tell people that more than one person can go through at a time.

Dee B.

Yelp
I've been familiar with Kalamazoo-Battle Creek airport for a number of years now. Just a year ago, I would have given it 3 stars, maybe even 4. Sadly, what has happened is beyond the airport's control and is just a ramification of today's travel climate. For a long time, AZO was served by several airlines: American, Delta, Northwest, United, maybe even Continental. But nowadays it's down to only 2 airlines, after United pulled out a year ago, and now that Northwest is a part of Delta. What this means is higher prices, fewer flights, and less service overall. The little store that sold magazines has vanished. The silly little cafe, with it's inconvenient pre-security location, is still there. Today I wanted to purchase a bottle of water from the vending machine at the gates....alas, after a holiday weekend, there were no water bottles to be found. Still, there are good things about AZO. One is just the whole small city thing -- if you fly in here, you can be pretty much anywhere in Kalamazoo or Portage in less than 20 minutes. And Midwestern friendliness and helpfulness prevails. When my flight to Detroit (for a connecting flight to DCA) was canceled and further flights were not possible, the great Northwest employees quickly arranged a bus for those of us who needed to get to Detroit as soon as possible. Because I have family in Kalamazoo, I will continue to use AZO, although now that some of my family will be moving to Grand Rapids, I'll be switching some of my business to GRR.

Bob A.

Yelp
Newer attractive small terminal with just the basics. Rental cars conveniently located 100 ft from terminal. 2 hotels about a block away including a new Hampton Inn. A word of warning to not sit outside the terminal in your car for more than 5 minutes or county police will harass and write you a ticket or tell you to move along. There's several good eating options within a block of the airport.

Mick C.

Yelp
Okay, I just gotta say I find it hilarious that it's an 'International' airport. It's pretty dubious, sticking that 'international' title on it. It's highly unlikely you'll find a 777 landing on it's little runway. I suspect the primary reason it's called that is because it serves a tiny flight from Canada daily or semiweekly! And it's only got one baggage carousel! But oh well, no harm no foul as it's perfect for little commuter flights to Chicago that I've taken to connect to my REAL international flights.

Veronica J.

Yelp
Although my flight out was canceled I will still give this tiny airport 5 stars. I was off of my plane and had my luggage in less than 10 minutes when I arrived from Dallas (with a connecting flight in Chicago). The flight from Chicago was 25 minutes which was awesome. The airport has a little place to purchase food which I wasn't really expecting. Baggage claim is very easy to locate and because the airport isn't super busy you can get your luggage in no time. You can rent cars or get a car service here also. I just love the convenience. The airport is so small that you won't have problems finding anything. I mentioned that my flight out was canceled. Well less than an hour away is the Grand Rapids Airport and I was able to get on a flight out of there and it was a direct flight to Dallas.

Kelly G.

Yelp
I was the only person in 'line' at the security checkpoint. Granted, there was no SBUX. And I'd never seen the name of the lone food place before. And the rental car lot had no "warning do not back up or severe tire damage will result" signs. And I had to walk out onto the tarmac to board my plane. And there appeared to be only 1 concourse with only a handful of gates. But I'll take that ANY day over these behemoth glass steel I-beam and concrete monstrosities they call airports (like DTW). AZO airport, you're alright with me!

Tom H.

Yelp
If only we could get a few more destinations from this airport. The terminal itself is modern and new. I long for the days when KaZoo served Pittsburgh and even briefly Atlanta. But airlines are driven by load factors and there just isn't enough business out of this city to justify many direct services. Direct Air made a go at it with a Florida service at couple of times per week but was eventually doomed. Even United Express pulled it's Chicago O'Hare service leaving only American Connection to serve ORD. Delta to Minneapolis or Detroit and that's about it. It's not for lack of want. The gates can elevate to accommodate a variety of aircraft sizes and I'm sure we'd love to see more city pair choices. TSA has a nice orderly facility to expedite passengers with minimal waiting time. The airfield itself has a northbound precision instrument approach (ILS) that will accommodate landings with cloud ceilings to 200 feet and 1/2 mile of visibility. To the south it's a bit more restrictive but aircraft are rarely not able to land due to weather. Snow removal and clearing are done quickly by the airport authority. De-icing delays are minimal with airline staff that takes care of it all quickly and efficiently. The good news is the airport is peaceful, clean, there's coffee or lunch available on the secure side and they've even got free wifi!

Russ A.

Yelp
Nice, small airport that recently had a terminal remodel. About the size of Capitol City in Lansing, which makes for limited flights but easy in and out. Nice.

Diane V.

Yelp
I think we have one the best airports. Everyone is always friendly, even the TSA people. It is fun, the airplanes hanging from the ceiling and he sculptures around the airport. Too bad you can only go to Detroit and Chicago. I could see myself taking a few trips to Florida every winter if I could fly direct. It doesn't look promising.

Brandon S.

Yelp
Great small airport with easy in and out security. Came through today and there was no one in front of me at security. Not a whole lot of shops or restaurants but a great serviceable airport.

Ayanbu O.

Yelp
I was at this airport back in August 2013 when I went to my 10 year HS reunion in Three Rivers. They really revamped this airport. It's really nice. I used to fly out of this airport when I used to live in Three Rivers.

Steve C.

Yelp
Wow, what a horrible airport experience. Bad enough that they searched my luggage like I'm a criminal, even though I have had a thorough TSA background check for the TSA precheck program. But, there is only one restaurant. It closes at 7. I'm here at 630. All flights are delayed, nobody got anywhere. The bar won't serve a drink because they close at 7. The restaurant has. No food to sell, no menu at all. Because they close at 7, the ovens are already off and cold, and they have nothing to offer. Unless I want a two day old sandwich or a three day old salad. Oh, and again, it's 630. Bartender says " I don't work for them." The guy at the counter says, "I don't make the rules". When I ask who does, he names some corporation, and of course they aren't here. So, we have nowhere to go, no food or drink, and no option. How can it be that you can't get any food at 630 pm? Not to mention, how did they manage to find the most apathetic staff you could ever meet? Maybe considering this, the airport has a snack machine? Nope. I travel here for work, but I won't return to Kalmazoo. There are other places I could've flown into, and I will next time.

Yelp
Everyone here is very friendly. The airport is small and quaint. The only problem is pretty major though. They closed TSA in the middle of the day?? Who does that? There's no place to eat and I'd like to relax before my flight that boards in about an hour!

Yelp
This airport is amazing now that they've revamped it. It's very small, only five gates, so you'll get checked in and through security in no time. Every time we've flown, we've been sitting at our gate about 10 minutes after walking through the airport doors. The other reviews stated that they frequently do security checks and I've also found that to be true. They are usually pretty quick about it and don't get too invasive. Just a quick opening of the bag and double checking that everything looks good. It really won't add more than a minute or two on your time spent in security. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. They've added a coffee shop and newstand by the gates, which was a welcome addition. Boarding is always quick and painless. Baggage claim is fantastically quick. It's always a pleasure flying into and out of this airport!

Yelp
I waited behind a whole one person in the security line (it took a second because the guy running the X-ray machine in one line was also the person who checked your ID and boarding pass so he told me to wait then hightailed it over to me to check my ID). The Delta check-in person was the kindest airline employee I encountered the entire trip and really bent over backward to try to help ensure I'd be in non-motion-sickness-enducing spots for my trip (she even put me in the front row on my first flight leg). Flying back in was a little more dicey because of extremely high winds but we landed OK and our pilot got an ovation from all the passengers. The remodel really increased the size of the airport, and I like the new artwork featured and the ease of getting in and out of the airport. It's also been nice to find more and more affordable flights out of Kzoo. Mostly of my recent trips I've found it's worth the extra little upcharge to fly in and out of my home airport.

Yelp
While there are limited destinations and you usually have to grab a connection, nothing beats this airport. It's clean, new and fresh and easy in and out.

Yelp
Small and very easy to get in and out of. Never any lines in check-in or security. Was able to check-in 20 minutes before flight left, through security and boarded!!

Yelp
I anticipated renting a car for a day and parked my car in the long term parking. The plans fell apart as I was in line at the rental counter, so once the plans cancelled, The rental car people were cool about it. I went back out to my car to exit the long term parking lot where I had spent 19 minutes. I got charged $4.00 for a full hour even though I was there for only 1/3 of an hour. I'd be down to pay a dollar or maybe 2 to pay for a 1/2 but they wanted to be sticklers, so here's my review. Don't park there unless you are ready to part with an hour's worth of money the second you pull in there. As a contrast, at the Hartsfield Jackson airport in Atlanta, if you were only in a similar lot for a similar amount of time, they'd just let you go without charging you anything at all.
