PASO ROBLES CITY GUIDE

"The Kaleidos label is named for a shop my mother had when I was young, where she sold kaleidoscopes and other works of art. The name resonates with me personally, but also relates directly to my wines. As the light and colors of a kaleidoscope come together to create unique images, the vines here combine the elements of soil and sunlight to develop distinctive fruit characteristics."

Go for the delicious wines, but enjoy the view. Steve has little slice of heaven at his place. And ask for the cupcake pairing to enhance your experience. Highly recommend!

This wine here is next level. We went to a private tasting, and it was an experience I won’t forget. The whites and reds are calling my name right now ! 😁 I probably should have just joined the club instead of buying almost a case variety. Absolutely delicious wine 🍷

Google
This is a must visit at Tin City! What’s Tin City you ask, check out their story on Amazon Prime Video! Steve was fantastic and makes amazing wine! Thanks for guiding our wine experience. Enjoying a bottle tonight!

I'm hesitant to give a great review, I'm trying to keep Kaleidos boutique wine a secret, they make fantastic wines in small quantities, with excellent profiles and flavour. Its definitely my top rated membership with hands on professional service

Visited the tasting room in Tin City and had an awesome time. We did the tasting flight and loved all the wines! There is a great comfortable patio and the winemaker, Steve, was super nice. Would definitely recommend visiting!!

Google
Absolutely delicious family owned wine! Thank you :) and they let you keep the wine glass!

Google
Love their wines. Have been wine clubbers for a while now. Not crazy about the new location for tasting. Miss the vines! Feels more like ghetto wine tasting!

Google
Really interesting wines, they have a character that stands out, they don't taste like every mass produced wine from the region. They also don't release young wines, or pour them, which is fun.

Yelp
This place is great! Really comfortable chairs to sit outside with pine trees that allow you feel relaxed in the busy Tin City. The owner/winemaker poured for us, was very friendly and created a not presumptuous environment. He is very talented in his wine making. We have wine tasted all over the country and even in Europe and these wines are worth tasting. Pleasantly surprised and happy to have stopped in!

Yelp
Kaleidos Winery is second to none! Their wine is some of the best you can find in the entire Central Coast area. The tasting room is clean, comfortable, and nicely decorated. It's not in the "heart" of the winery "tour areas", but that is nice as well. It's not overly crowded with tourists. The service in the tasting room by Cameron was excellent. Finally, the wine maker, Steve Martell, is outstanding. If you like Syrah and GSM blends, look no further. They are excellent wines at a very good value; priced fairly, and not over-priced like so many other wineries. Join their wine club! You'll be glad you did!

Yelp
Awesome and sublime wines! Lovely Rhone style white, Beautiful red's... And did I mention the cupcakes? Fantastic! The team of wine makers, both Changala and Kaleidos, combined with the warmth of their smiles, is outstanding! Truly, though, some of the most delicious reds we've tasted to date....and at 58 (honestly speaking for myself, of course), that's a lot of RED! If you make one stop...& you require superbly made wine, this is the tasting room to make your destination! No kidding. Unpretentious and unassuming from the outside, you will be terrifically pleased you made the stop. So glad we did! Seriously, two terrific wineries in one stop...who could ask for more!

Yelp
It's a very small winery for sure because we went to the wrong counter in the tiny building first and it wasn't Kaleidos! Anyway, once we found it, we had a nice tasting. The fee is $10 which is waived with a two bottle purchase. Their wines are priced at $28-38 on the tasting list but on the backside under the purchase list, the majority were priced at $45. The tasting fee covered 5 samples and I found the reds had too much tannins for me, even though they are 2012. Can't say it was one of our favorite stops.

Yelp
We tasted Kaleidos outside behind the Thacher tasting room. Being that it was a festival weekend, many of the wineries were hosting others on the property to help bring exposure to those who don't have their own tasting rooms. it was nice to experience new wineries like this. Kaleidos is a very small winery with no tasting room, but does have a wine club. They were tasting several wines that day. We ended up walking away with Morpheus and Oakrock. The wines are reasonably priced.

Yelp
This was our first time at a winery and Taryn at Kaleidos was awesome and made us feel comfortable for it being a new experience for us. Very knowledgeable about the wine and all were very good. Great deal with the purchase of the "passport". Definitely will be a stop next time back on the coast

Yelp
Great wine with great variety. They do a super cool cup cake pairing the first weekend of every month and special event weekends. So enjoy, I did.

Yelp
This winery shares a space with Changala winery for the tasting room. This winery specializes in making very good Syrahs. Syrahs that are very peppery, tannic, suck the moisture out of your mouth, goes good with roasted leg of lamb, with mint chutney, rolled inside some warm soft naan. Am I being silly? Probably a little. But this wine is an experience. The one I love the most was the 2007 Morpheus. Most of the wines had very strong tannins, robust taste, were already a little aged, but have the body to be aged longer if you desire, but great to drink now too.

Yelp
This was the first stop of our "off the beaten path, no plan" wine tasting adventure. We started tasting two days prior, hitting the usual suspects to pick up our shipments. Today, we decided to drive down Vineyard and stop at the vineries that called to us. Kaleidos and Changala grabbed our attention, and we're thrilled they did. -We were well taken care of by Taryn. She was hilarious and took us through the tasting menu and then some. It was like we were hanging out with an old friend. -The wine- all of their reds were really good! I likes the Praying Mantis and the Syrah/Syrah Reserve. They were deep and red, full bodied, and full of flavor yet light enough to enjoy a couple glasses without being too much. These would pair well with a beefy dinner! -The property: tucked back in the hills down about a quarter mile stretch of dirt road is the building that houses both Changala and Kaleidos. There are two grassy lawns in a sort of terraced arrangement. Up top, a few tables and chairs under the shade of the trees. Down below under some more shade, more tables and a couple cornhole boards. Other than that, peaceful seclusion. I could see treking up here for a bottle of wine after a long day!

Yelp
Liked the girl who helped me here. She was super friendly. Their wines are soo good too. They are a part of the wine tasting passport so look it up!

Yelp
Handcrafted Rhone varietals in a small boutique winery that has the best Syrah in Paso. The attendant is friendly and knowledgeable. Go during wine and cupcake pairing (sounds odd but its phenomenal) first weekend of every month.

Yelp
Great little winery that is a hidden gem! Can't wait to come back and relax without the kiddos.

Yelp
We ended up going to Kaleidos thanks to the "Passport" (Central Coast Passport.... check it out if you don't know about it already!) It ended up being the last stop on our long route on Saturday of many many wineries, so by the time we got to Kaleidos we thought we were completely wined out and our palates were finished! But alas, we encountered the Syrah Reserve - and that woke our tired taste buds right back up, as if we had just gotten started again! In fact, they were actually sold out already of the Reserve wine, but the very sweet and super friendly Chrissy recommended their non-Reserve Syrah to take home (without even trying it first) which she promised would be just as enjoyable. And sure enough, we popped that baby open tonight, and it brought us right back to Paso Robles, and that sweet friendly little wine room. Great wines, even better experience (which is half of the pleasure alone!) Very grateful to the Central Coast Passport for leading us to Kaleidos wines! The ONLY reason for not giving a full-on five star was simply because we were too pooped to really be able to enjoy thoroughly each and every wine we tasted, so just leaves room for us to go back and try them all again! The fact though that they were also sold out of so many just shows how popular they have in fact been in their sales!

Yelp
cute out the way place shared with the Changala. We would have never found it but was on the Passport and glad we did. I bought a bottle of 2007 Starr Syrah

Yelp
Awesome wines. A little pricey. The tasting room isn't special but we very much enjoyed chatting with the pourer. Definitely worth the visit if you enjoy Paso syrahs. Ask if they're pouring the praying mantis yet.

Yelp
best wine tasting experience ever. the wine attendant was hilarious and we laughed the entire time. also, it doesn't get better than this if you love wine and cupcakes! YUM!

Yelp
Such a great hidden gem just off the main road. Had a great tasting with Taryn, very friendly and knowledgeable. She guided us through the wines and had some great recommendations for places to check out on our visit. The wines were very enjoyable and the care put into them really shows. Was a great change of pace, it is a small tasting room with a nice outdoor space. Nothing fancy or overdone like so many other Paso wineries. Was very relaxing.

Roxan K.

Yelp
What made this place for us was the server, she was a blast! Our palates weren't as discerning after a day of wine tasting, but I had heard great things about this place and was anxious to check it out! I am so glad we did, it was the funnest stop we made!

Yelp
Bought a bottle of Morpheus 2005 at Albertsons. Absolutely loved it. Called Alberstons and they were out.
