During my visit to Belgrade, I had the pleasure of dining at Kalemegdanska Terasa, a restaurant located in the historic Belgrade Fortress. The views of the city and the confluence of the Sava and Danube rivers from the outdoor terrace were simply breathtaking. (Try visitng close to sunset)
I was impressed by the quality of the food, particularly the Šopska salad, which was one of the best I've had in town. The roasted red peppers in garlic and vinegar (pečena paprika) and the mini proja (savory corn bread) were also standout dishes. I enjoyed trying the meats prepared under the "sač," a traditional Serbian slow-cooking method that resulted in tender, flavorful meat and potatoes.
While the prices were higher than some other places in Belgrade, I found that the quality of the ingredients, the stunning setting, and the attentive service made it a worthwhile experience. Keep in mind that Kalemegdanska Terasa is a well-established restaurant, so it may not be the cheapest option in the city.
I had a memorable and relaxing dining experience at Kalemegdanska Terasa and would recommend it to others looking to try traditional Serbian cuisine in a beautiful setting.
