The well-preserved and restored castle provides a fascinating glimpse into the life of the 16th-17th century nobility.
Staff are dressed up in historical clothing which further adds up to the immersion.
There’s plenty of activities for children, like dressing up, crafts, jousting or participating in a knights fight. Almost makes you wish you were young again so you could participate.
A visit will take about 2 hours, but with children you can easily double that.
When we visited, there was a temporary exhibition on witch trials in the 17th. They were able to create a well-fitted gloomy atmosphere. Walking through the darkened rooms you could feel the desperation of the women who were falsely accused of witchcraft and trialed for it.
