I stayed at Kam Leng Hotel and have mixed feelings about it. The interior design is charming and has a nice vintage touch, and the air-conditioning worked great. Staff were friendly and helpful throughout my stay, which I appreciated.
However, there were a few downsides. I saw cockroaches in the room, which was concerning. The walls are also not soundproof — I could clearly hear neighbours showering and even having sex, which made the stay uncomfortable at times.
The shower itself had a unique set-up with multiple sprays, and the hotel provides a bar soap, shampoo and body soap, which was a nice touch.
One thing that stood out to me in a more serious way was how some rooms were converted into dorm-style accommodations for migrant workers. While I respect and appreciate that the hotel is offering them a place to stay, it felt unfair that they were given significantly fewer basic amenities — no kettle, coffee powder, or even bottled glass water — and their beds were replaced with bunk beds. It gave me mixed feelings, as it felt like unequal treatment.
Overall, the hotel has potential with its design, staff, and location, but I hope they work on improving soundproofing, and more equal treatment for all guests, regardless of their background.
There is alot of food around Kam Leng, but has limited Halal stores that are in the area.
