Kama Ku Kafé - pousada, guest house, restaurante -Cidade Velha, ilha de Santiago, Cabo Verde

We arrived mid day to Praia with a ferry and had a flight the following night. Instead of carrying around the luggage we decided to get a room in Cidade Velha and we’re glad we did! Staying there is a lot nicer than in the capital and Maria and her husband make you feel like home. The room is basic but private and clean and they have a beautiful, flower covered terrace with sea view. They were very flexible with our early check-in and our check-out in the middle of the night, prepared breakfast sandwiches for us and ordered a taxi. If you are willing to accept the slightly higher taxi price to get out of Praia you should definitely consider staying with this very kind couple!

Pleasant property, very nice family running the guest house and try to help you as much as they can. Unfortunately they advertise that they speak English, which is not true, it's a good thing my tablet has an app for Portuguese.|The only draw back is the hotel is on the main road and the local buses start honking their horns at 6 a.m. Not the fault of the owners but the local dogs can bark continuously till 3 a.m., but my friend told me this happened at her hotel in praia. I did enjoy my stay, I prefer small towns ,the hotel had a sea view and the breeze at night was cool for sleeping. The dining area was outside on the patio so one could street watch.I did order supper and the food was plain and simple. For my 5 day stay I consider I had good value for my money.

First of all huge thanks to Fernando, Lena, Sofia and Fabio for the unforgettable experience. The hotel is a family solution with an excellent level of order and cleanliness, sea views, fast Wi-fi and fantastic cuisine. The real added-value, however, is the tour that takes visitors in a few days the whole island, including Cidade Velha, the capital Praia, the markets, the beaches of Sao Francisco and Tarrafal, Sao Domingo, Assomada, etc.. A fantastic Guide has also taken us to Cidade Velha and Praia, teaching us history and culture af this great country. All included for a very competitive price. Super recommended and hope to see you soon.

It is located a nice walk away from the Cidade Velha, with a beautiful view of the ocean. Mr. Fernando will arrange for airport pick up and tours with a very reliable inexpensive taxi company. Highly recommended!

Simple guesthouse but with very kind guests. Very recommended to spend few days there. They can support you for daily trips with a guide and a driver.

Excellent experience. The place is run now by Lena and her children and it keeps up with the tradition of warm hospitality and kindness
