Yume and the rest of the staff where very welcoming to us. The place is very clean and cozy. It was out first experience with a traditional style hostel and it was perfect. The sleeping mats really are good and people in the bedroom are quiet and respectful. The staff goes a long way to really make you feel at home, they are just so sweet and kind :) The common room with the fire is also amazing. Great place to cook, eat, drink and just hang out. The location is great, we rented bikes for about 5€ a day and saw everything Kamakura has to offer. Thanks a lot Yume & and friends for the great stay!

Lovely house, immaculately kept by the staff. You really feel you're getting an authentic 'Japanese' experience staying here; sleeping on futon in a tatami room and the irori in the living room is also a wonderful feature. There is a restaurant attached that serves nice food and drinks for a reasonable price. It's not close to the main attractions of Kamakura however you can rent a bicycle and explore.

Kamukara Guest House is a beautiful traditional Japanese house with a very personal atmosphere. The staff is super friendly and the living room is always full with guests, allowing you to get to know one another. The facilities are very clean, as you would expect in Japan. There used to be a bar below the house but that has moved to Fukuoka. That was a little bit dissapointing because it doesn't say on the website. However I would definitely recommend this hostel! Would book again.

The guesthouse nestled in a quiet neighborhood within 10 mins walk from Shonan-Fukusawa monorail stop. The hosts are friendly lot and always ready to help. The female dorm is spacious and located at first floor together with ladies toilet. There are two showers downstairs. Lights off at 10pm. Common room for dining and doing activities together with the hosts up til 12 am. I get to try the charcoal baked mochi dipped into sweet soy sauce. Great place if you like to socialize with other guests.

Kamakura Guesthouse is located about 15 minutes away by bus from Kamakura station. The house is originally Japanese style old house and you can enjoy the old fashioned atmosphere. In the public space, you can enjoy Kotastu (electric Japanese heater with a futon over it) and Irori (a hearth installed on the floor.) Irori is actually rare in modern Japanese houses and it was a good opportunity for me to enjoy the warmth and cook over it. Even though you have to bring fish by yourself since this is a guesthouse and no meal is served, the staff will help you to cook with Irori. They put charcoal so that your fish can be deliciously cooked. Irori is available in winter time, from Oct to Mar. The guesthouse of course has a kitchen, tools and seasonings so that you can cook your meal any time. The guesthouse has 2 dormitories for men and women, and one private room. (Now they can rent the dormitory as a private room due to COVID.) The room is Japanese style with Tamami (straw) mat and futon bedding. I hope the world that people get together all over the world and talk at night surrounding Irori comes back soon!

Such a nice place, with helpful and nice staff. The house is really clean and it is a great experiene to see a "real" japanese house. It is a bit far from the station, but it is only a five minutes walk from the monorail, you can take it from Ofuna.

It's like staying in a traditional Japanese inn, but you're actually on a shoestring budget opting for hostels instead. There's everything here. Indoor cooking pits, full kitchen, restaurant/bar, rental bikes, tatami mats

After a night of friendly conversations, good food, playing guitar with staff, arm wrestling with guests, I have decided that this is my place of stay every time I visit Kamakura. Kamakura Guest house - wa suki desu.

Yelp
Amazing staff, amazing accommodation. Would definitely recommend it to everyone stopping by Kamakura. We found it better than the hotel that we stayed at in Omori! If you come here you must stop by the bar downstairs because the owners are so hospitable and helpful with mixing drinks. Over all, a terrific experience with staff that speak manageable English.
