This is my favourite and the perfect guesthouse for those wanting to stay somewhere in Chiang Mai that’s much more genuinely friendly than any hotel but without the lack of privacy and/or loud chaos of a backpackers. Ive stayed here several times now, after visiting Chiang Mai many many times and having tried various accommodations and different parts of town. But since I’ve discovered this little hidden gem, I’ll always stay here. The location is absolutely perfect for walking to and exploring the Old Town of Chiang Mai as well as walking less than 10 minutes to the two main food and entertainment areas of Chiang Mai. The location couldn’t be better! It literally suits all ages and it’s easy to meet people from around the world. I think Kamala, the owner, is so well travelled herself, is very friendly and super welcoming that her guesthouse attracts interesting (in a really good way) people. The staff are two lovely Thai women, Beer and Nong. There’s a really cute little cafe and bar area downstairs with outdoor seating and a little courtyard area. The rooms are surprisingly spacious for such a good location.

Rarely write reviews, but this place was so good I couldn’t not - HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I originally booked for just a few nights before moving into Muay thai gym and ended up staying a month , that should tell you everything. If I were staying in Old Town any longer, I’d still be there. And if I come back to Old Town, this will be the only place I stay. Highly recommend it to everyone , whether you’re a solo traveler, a couple, or in town to train Muay Thai, this is the place to be. It’s right next to Tha Phae Gate, with Old Town literally a minute away. Tons of restaurants, bars, and Muay Thai gyms are all within walking distance. But it’s tucked down a quiet side street, so it’s peaceful when you want to relax or even sit outside with a beer. And the staff are the best part , absolutely lovely. Super friendly, helpful, and welcoming. Huge thanks to Kamala and the rest of team!

Was there on 06 December 2024 fOR UTMB Chiangmai. |Stayed in room 117. Room was spacious. However it is really dated and old with fittings falling apart. Flooring is very old and scratched. Furniture also seems to have seen better days. Bathroom flooring has mould and stains all over the grouting. A lot of fixes on the fittings are DIY but it works. Had a leak on the sink that was only fixed on the 3rd day. Room had a musky smell when entering which needed to airing to rid the odor. Above all else, it was impeccably clean except for the corners of the flooring. Mattress was comfortable and sheet, towels, pillows, toilet bowl, shower curtains were very clean. Badly needs deep cleaning and some renovation with newer furniture and it will be a 5-star place. Location wise its excellent just in front of Tha Phae Gate with easy access to songtheaw to anywhere else. Staff including Nok were friendly and very accommodating. There was free refills of drinking water, coffee, tea, banana and pineapple jam biscuits. A small cafe downstairs has a small paid breakfast menu and cold beer. If you have no complaints staying in an old dated place for a cheaper price then this is it for the hospitality and location. Could hear faint singing and music from the night market on the streets which is faint once the doors and windows and shut and ends at midnight. A good place for budget-conscious non-fussy explorers.

My experience of the guest house was not a good one!!, the room was not great, there was no wardrobe,or headboard for bed, lights were faulty, I was living out of the suitcase the whole time. The room was very tired looking and needing decorating. The whole building had a echo and any noise would echo through whole building which would occur late at night. The whole place needs money spent on it to decorate and new furniture. I wouldn't stay here again. But what ruined my time was building work next door and constant drilling really loud noise. 😒

Great little hotel down a small/narrow side alley, so if you come in a car bear in mind the parking is limited and tight. The staff are so friendly and speak great English. Although there is not a kettle in the room, there is a kettle to use in the reception area. We had a fridge in the room and a TV which we did not watch. The room was a good size, with clean white sheets and nice pillows. We purchased a bacon sandwich for breakfast, and it was lovely. There were two downsides for us, the extractor fans from the McDonalds restaurant were located opposite our room and were quite loud, so if noise is an issue for you, you might want a room at the back, and the shower did not have a tray/ separation, so the bathroom just completely flooded. But that said, it was a lovely little hotel, in a super location and I would happily stay there again the next time I am in Chiang Mai. Our room cost £17 a night.

This is my go-to guest house to stay in when I visit chiang mai.||It's located just down a side street opposite Thae Pae Gate.||The owner and team are so welcoming and really make you feel at home. She makes the time to get to know every customer.|Tours and advice are also available if required.||The rooms are large and spacious and is really quiet overnight as the guesthouse only has 8 rooms. ||Hope to be back there soon again!

I had an amazing stay at Kamala’s place. The property was great and a perfect location within walking distance to many highsights. The staff makes you feel like home from the very first day you arrive. The bedroom was spaceous, clean and super comfortable. And I do recommend their meals, absolutely delicious! If you visit Chiang Mai, don’t miss it!
