On the Grid : Kame Bakery

"Kame was Berlin's first Japanese café and has quickly become one of the best. Bring your friends and drink a warm cup of matcha tea and nosh on fine sweets on the tatami mat. The café captures just the right amount of craftsmanship and tradition in the food while keeping true to it's modern Berlin vibe." - Meryl Vedros

place is nicely decorated, staff were friendly too and explained when we had questions regarding the food and drinks. i had the ‘authentic matcha’ which was 7€ but was served and tasted like the ones i had in japan. it was pretty expensive but given how much an iced matcha costs in berlin im not really surprised. it was worth it and the cake was delicious too! will return if i can :)

Mind blowing experience. Best Japanese caffe in town! Whatever you pick from the menu is gonna surprise you for good. Everything tasty and well balance. Very good atmosphere with soft ambience music and very friendly staff. I can’t wait to come back again!

a quiet place where you can drink Matcha or coffee with a sweet addition (the matcha tiramisu was amazing) and for a light lunch they have several light options for egz. Salomon bowl :) yummy ! Service is super nice as well!

Just go! Amazing authentic Japanese food. The fried chicken (karage ) is a must!

It was a nice place to sit. There are signs on all the tables that they don’t allow laptops. The food was ok and nicely presented.

Kame in Berlin serves good Japanese food—fresh, tasty, and authentic. Unfortunately, the experience is overshadowed by the service, which is unusually unfriendly, especially surprising for a Japanese place. Staff are rigid about their rules, like enforcing a ridiculous €5 card minimum even if you’re overall spending much more, and show little warmth, even towards children. The quality of the food is good, but the lack of hospitality makes the visit less enjoyable than it should be.

Not really friendly service. I entered the cafe and did not really feel the hospitality there. I tried Matcha latte (which was not really impressive), sencha (the waitress gave me the wrong lid for the tea pot) and the cake (cannot remember the name but it's not my type. The cafe at that time had no customers except me, my friend and 2 girls bought some cakes for take-away. Overall, it's an authentic Japanese cafe but not really friendly

I was already several times there and took also a few times something out. The vegetarian rice bowls, the bakery (Melonpans, Matcha brownies), the mochis & tea (Houjicha, Matcha Latte) were always delicious. The Stuff is really polite and nice. I also really like the cozy atmosphere, although the interior is quite old. Furthermore, the café can sometimes be very crowded, especially on the weekends and in the evening. Therefore I would recommend to make a reservation.
