Kameha Grand (Bonn, North Rhine-Westphalia) 5 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"There aren’t enough adjectives to describe the sensory feast that is the Kameha Grand – the stunning wing-shaped building by Karl-Heinz Schommer and the cutting-edge interiors by superstar designer Marcel Wanders leave jaws permanently dropped. It’s intended for that most desirable demographic, the hipster business traveler, and as such it’s anything but corporate — thanks to Wanders it feels a bit like a living Dalí painting. On the other hand it’s in many ways just as sober and practical as you’d expect a German hotel to be — with a geothermal power plant in the basement, the Kameha Grand is just about emission-free." - Tablet Hotels

The worse experience I had so far in a hotel. My room is looking towards inner space which is a discotheque during the night. They pretend to have sound isolation which is actually missing. The light effects can also be seen inside the room as the curtains do not stop them. So if you want to sleep during the night - please avoid this hotel- it is not possible to sleep in the room during the night. Now is 1:53h and the music still continues. I have a business meeting tomorrow …

A room with a terrace only makes sense if you plan to sunbathe — there’s just one lounge chair. Smoking is not allowed, and to enjoy the view, you have to stand at the edge — once you sit, the view disappears. If the view is important to you, it’s better to choose a river-facing room. Just note that on sunny days, the windows get very hot and tend to fog up. During our check-in, the front desk staff seemed quite confused. We were checking in with a dog and had already paid for the full reservation, after which we were told there would be an extra pet fee. They also recommended booking a table at the on-site Asian restaurant, but none of our attempts were successful — the manager always said there were no available tables. It would be great if the reception team had access to the restaurant’s booking system, so they could suggest reservations only when actually available. The windows in our room were noticeably dirty. In the first room, there were stains on the table from a bottle being opened; in the second — a cracked mirror. The shower cabin had visible black mold. We requested cleaning every 2–3 days, but the bed linen was not changed. Bathrobes had torn loops, so the belts couldn’t be threaded properly. Still, none of this spoiled our stay. The breakfast was exceptional: a wide variety — from almond milk to house-cured lightly salted salmon and fresh microgreens. The location is magical: a nearby park with ducks, rabbits, and singing thrushes. It’s a place where you can truly rest your mind and reconnect with nature. The river promenade is lovely, though it can get crowded on weekends. Conclusion: despite a few downsides, both the hotel and the city left us with special memories. We’ll definitely come back.

Absolutely the most horrible and horrendous experience I have ever had in a hotel. Nothing works. Absolutely nothing works! They had to change our room as the hot water didn’t work and they said they would change the room the next day! But guess what, they didn’t even write it in their system! So no change. Horrendous and horrific experience!!!!

Hotel Grand Kameha in Bonn, Frankfurt: A Review Hotel Grand Kameha in Bonn, Frankfurt is a truly luxurious hotel. It is a very beautiful property with exceptionally friendly staff. This is a wonderful hotel to stay at with family—we visited as a family and had a memorable experience. The entire hotel is spic and span, very well maintained, and the staff is extremely courteous. The rooms are large, well-ventilated, and romantically lit, creating a cozy and inviting atmosphere. The bathrooms are modern, equipped with luxury bathtubs, showers, and high-end fixtures. On a positive note, the hotel’s spa, located on the third floor, was excellent. There are several treadmills, two large sauna rooms with infrared heaters maintaining a temperature around 50 degrees Celsius, a steam room, and well-maintained showers. The sauna, steam room, and showers are kept impeccably clean, making them perfect for relaxing after a long day. There is also a paid spa service, which I believe costs around 50 Euros for half an hour and 100 Euros for a full hour, though I am not exactly sure of the pricing. The hotel also offers a rooftop swimming pool and a couple of lounging areas with reclining chairs where you can sit, lay down, relax, and order food and drinks after exercising, sauna sessions, or a spa massage. The highlight of our stay was the hotel’s restaurant—Ludwig’s Restaurant within the Grand Kameha. It is a large and elegant restaurant with both indoor and outdoor seating. The staff at Ludwig’s were exceptionally kind and attentive, going above and beyond to accommodate guests. On our first night, we arrived late at around 9:30 PM, starving and tired. We walked into Ludwig’s just as they were preparing to close. One waitress, Venessa Weckmann, noticed us and kindly asked the chef if he could prepare something for us. She returned with the good news that they could offer us a one-course meal. Grateful, we accepted, and she seated us at a cozy corner table. We mentioned that we are strict lacto-vegetarians, and asked for suggestions. After thinking for a moment, she recommended the "Poke Bowl." It was absolutely delicious—one of the best meals we’ve ever had. Thanks to Venessa's kindness and attentiveness, we were able to sleep that night fully satisfied. Thank you, Venessa! We truly appreciated your hospitality. Breakfast at Ludwig’s is another highlight of the hotel experience. It is arguably one of the best breakfasts in the world, offering a huge variety: Greek yogurt with a wide assortment of cut fruits Freshly squeezed orange and apple juices Many varieties of bread, cheeses, and croissants Freshly made-to-order pancakes and waffles Potatoes, various meats, and different types of condiments Fresh raw honey, maple syrup, and more A coffee station where you can make cappuccinos, espressos, or black coffee, and a selection of tea leaves with strainers and hot water. The staff at breakfast were, once again, extremely courteous and attentive. Location: The hotel is located along the banks of the Rhine River. Just walk down the rear stairs to enjoy a stroll along the river. There’s even a boat you can take to explore nearby places. We took a boat ride to Linz, a charming historical village with buildings dating back to the 1300s—it was a delightful and scenic trip. Final Thoughts: I highly recommend Hotel Grand Kameha for both family vacations and romantic getaways. Despite the minor bathroom issues, the overall experience, hospitality, luxurious amenities, and beautiful surroundings make this hotel a wonderful choice.

Great location, decent prices. Underground carpark. Breakfast is OK. Fitness room is tiny and 1/3 lifts was out of order the whole week I was there.

Yelp
I work for a company whose HQ is walking distance from the Kameha so it was recommended to me by a colleague that I book a room at this place, so I did. I've now stayed twice at the Kameha Grand hotel and if I have the choice, it will be the only hotel in Bonn that I will ever stay at - it's that good. This place has style ... and tons of it. The decor is... intense. As in lots of red. Red red red. You've never seen so much red in your life. I promise. And yet, it's not overwhelming like you might think (see my pictures.) I've stayed in some of the top 5 star hotels in the world and this place is competitive. The rooms as absolutely awesome. The layout affords privacy and quiet (I never heard a sound from a neighbor) while providing comfort. The only negative I had was only 1 English language channel was working (about half of the channels did not appear) on the television. Fortunately, they have superior internet speed so I just watched stuff on my tablet. The room service menu has great food options. The food is somewhat pricey but absolutely excellent quality. I got the 35 euro breakfast and frankly, it's hard to imagine anyone eating everything. Definitely enough for two people. I ate a number of dinners there and found the food to be excellent but the menu is limited and if I was going to stay there for more than about 4 days I would probably get super bored of it. Hopefully, they change it seasonally. I'll find out next year when I return. They have a private cigar room and I was even able to order dinner there. Very nice. According to my colleagues, they have a fabulous spa and infinity pool but I was working too many hours to take the time to go. Also something I look forward to on my next visit. I did however walk around the hotel a lot. It's situated along the Rhine river and there's a fabulous walkway that adjoins the river next to the hotel. I took a number of walks on it and it is really beautiful. Some of the nearby buildings are to be appreciated architecturally as well. You can get to the hotel by train but you will have a bit of a walk (half of it on a muddy cobblestone road and in the dark by night) so if you're not comfortable with that, call a taxi. Otherwise the walk is about 5 minutes and very straightforward. You'll have to see the pictures I'm posting to get a full sense of this place. It's something else and definitely recommended if you have to stay in Bonn.

Yelp
I had the opportunity to stay here as part of attending a customer presentation. They receive special rates here and I took advantage of it :-) Located close to the Rhine it's easy to get to from the airport in Köln. It's a very modern hotel with huge open plan and a bit too open for my liking. Everything is in deep colours and a lot of red and black, a bit too much in fact. They have a totally open plan checkin area and a lobby bar. For a 5 star hotel this place is ok. This is definitely not my kind of hotel. It's too open plan for my liking. The rooms are nice but a bit too colourful and not easy on the eyes. The bathroom is totally open and again something I don't like. Service here is good but none of the staff actually smile. Perhaps they have forgotten how to ? They are helpful and professional however just did not feel the warmth. The best person was the bartender who was very nice and made some decent cocktails. Breakfast is quite ok and the selection is good. Room service was also quite ok and I enjoyed my burger. All in all this place did not wow me in any way.

Yelp
WOW! This place is beautiful!! Modern, trendy, and stylish. Glamorous to feel like you've been whisked away to some place exquisite, but not snobby where you feel like you need to be wearing your fur coats :) I came here for the brunch on Sunday and it was just divine. Upon walking in, your coat is hung for you, and you're greeted with delicious cold bubbles.. champagne on arrival! Love it! There are many tall cocktail tables around in this area for you to sip, enjoy, and wait to be seated If it wasn't for the beautiful sun that shined through the room that was completely enclosed of windows (forget floor to ceiling.. imagine roof too!), I would have thought it was 23:00 on a Saturday night at a sophisticated lounge, getting the weekend started! On the way to our table, as we passed through the buffet and stations, I was explained of the varieties: Hot foods, caving station, small bites, freshly shucked oysters, salad bar, fresh sliced cold cuts, cheeses, breads, pickled veggies, fruit, hot breakfast, juices, smoothies, teas and espressos! That was a mouthful, but I know I'm forgetting something! Now the food: Breakfast foods: From typical European breakfasts that include cold cuts, cheeses, yogurts, breads to American hot breakfasts with bacon, eggs, waffles and everything in between including oatmeal, muesli, fruit, spreads, jams, etc! Lots of variety! Apps: Lots of small, bite sized plates. Invidiual mouthfuls of items ranging from a parmeseam mouse with sun dried tomato, smoked pork loin with lentils, wild boar in a sweet potato puree, oysters, sashimi, to even dim sum treats (although these were't authentic, "A" for effort). Hot Dishes: Roasted turkey, smoked fish, roast beef (perfectly cooked by the way), sauteed cabbage and apple, green beans, roasted potatoes, au gratin, etc.. Desserts: Similar to the appetizers, these were perfectly portioned and small enough to have on of each! :) A variety from chocolate mouses, to cakes, to creme brulee! Drinks: Champagne, wine, juices, smoothies, pop, tea, coffee, etc.. whatever your heart desires they will keep filling your glass to make sure you are never parched! Overall a great experience! Ended up spending 3 hours here!!! I could not believe it! Love their service, and attentiveness. I also really appreciated that the food wasn't just laid out to be waiting, but instead chefs only put out a few plates at a time, and cooked new ones as the plates diminished! Great idea for fresh food! Come here if you get a chance! A quality experience with fine dining food in a beutiful facility!

Yelp
Upscale hotel with great spa. The rooms are fine, service while friendly,I found a bit amateurish. Great sauna, stream room and gym. The infinity pool goes off the 3rd floor right into the Rein! One of the nicest I've seen. The 5th floor sushi restaurant is fabulous, but very pricy. If you can get a good room rate then worth the visit The location is out of the city, but right on the river.

Yelp
The Best hotel I've ever seen! Wonderful and romantic location, extremely friendly staff, and what a breathtaking architecture and interior design. Especially the latter just makes you gasp every minute when you notice another wonderful detail. Everything is extremely modern and tastefully desingned, from the tee pot to the hair drier. Perfect hotel for business travelers and honey-mooners!

Yelp
Bonn newest Hotel is very good, the staff are very well trained and professional, the star was the Maitre d' welcoming and courteous, no pretensioness Sunday Brunch was the best I have seen, the selection was generous and plentyfull. The quality of the food was top quality with a very large selection, nothing was allowed to run out, after my fried egg broke in the pan it was thrown away and a fresh one made. This standard was maintained for all the brunch. I will be back !!!

Yelp
This design hotel a few kilometers outside of the center of Bonn is amazing. A piece of art in itself. The city of Bonn itself is not really a place I would recommend to visit, but this hotel would be a reason to go to Bonn anyway. Bonn still needs to het the upgrade most German cities had by now. This hotel is a bit further upstream on the Rhine river and offers a beautiful view over the bend of the Rhine. It must be a place to be for the business people and the rich and famous of Bonn. A beautiful partly roofed square, offers a fantastic setting for grandeur parties. The lobby bar is impressive with the enormous pillars and they actually offer great cocktails. The spa has everything a spa should offer; plenty of places to relax, a rooftop outside infinity pool (the birds are fake by the way, but add to the experience ;-)), and a 60 and 90 degrees sauna and steam bath. They also offer a fitness. Make sure you check what room you book. We were introduced to a room which held a table football game and dart board. Not the best ingredients for a romantic weekend, so we asked the reception if we could get another room. No problem and we also got an upgrade to the Diva suite with a view over the Rhine. Fantastic! Breakfast is top class, I cannot say anything else, and all staff is very friendly. If you like design hotels, you should definitely visit the Kameha Grand in Bonn.

Yelp
Wonderful business hotel. You can keep your concentration on your business without being worried about anything else. All staff (in the bar, reception, restaurant, etc) very friendly, professional and attentive all time. A perfect guys-good fellows club I loved the super trendy design in every area of the hotel but I would drive the attention to maintenance. The pool in the spa was cold and one of the saunas didn't work. We stayed in a room called the moon because it supposed to be a moon light in the bed head.. well the moon never appeared.. I guess the light was burned out. The cleaning service was not that fantastic, sometimes they just changed the towels and made some order. My general experience is positive. I would recommend it
