"Journey to another universe at this extraordinary hotel Remember at Christmas catching a glimpse of that huge gift under the tree and reading your name on the tag? That’s the feeling I had walking down Kameha Grand Zurich’s dimly-lit corridor and seeing my bedroom door: huge, silver and reading 2046 Space Suite. Inside I stepped along a soft, silvery carpet, through a hallway twinkling with stars and into a murmuring room with a levitating bed. I'd just entered outer space. Well, almost. Kameha Grand Zurich’s Space Suite offers an experience as close as you’ll find anywhere. Designed by German photographer Michael Najjar (the first artist to have trained as an astronaut), this room leaves no space rock unturned with details running down to the finest margin. As well as the floating bed, silver seats, an astronaut’s glove emerging from the wall and carpets printed with Milky Way images, you’ll encounter delightful details. The light options range from moonlight to starlight, spotlights clustered on the ceiling resemble rocket engines and no windows give the feeling of utter solitude and zero gravity. Each guest receives a personalized log-in card and can spend the evening watching a selection of intergalactic movies on the curved plasma or reading the selection of space literature. Before you go, remember to add your details to the log book. Other themed rooms at the Kameha Grand Zurich range from a Gentlemen’s Suite with a roulette table and rotating TV to a sultry Burlesque Suite ideal for a romantic break."

Kameha Grand Zürich (Zurich, Canton of Zurich) 6 Hotel Reviews | Tablet Hotels

"The original Kameha Grand in Bonn was (and remains) a smash hit, so we’re pleased, if a bit surprised, to see a sequel — it felt like the Platonic idea of the modern business hotel, mixing cutting-edge architecture, ultra-contemporary interior design and state-of-the art electronics with the classic comforts and timeless virtues of luxury hospitality. They can’t just go and build a second Kameha Grand in Zürich, can they?" - Tablet Hotels

This hotel is so convenient to everything. The staff was excellent and truly provides a experience just to stY there. We ate in the bar the first night and was served by Sebastion. He was so friendly and smiled constantly. Also, a wealth of information. We were elated to see him at breakfast in the morning. The food was excellent. I wish I knew the names of everyone we came in contact with as I haven’t seen so many people go out of their way to be happy and serve you since the pandemic. Convenient to the airport and Zurich. We made a one hour train ride to see the falls and it was simple. Tourist information, Noemi, helped us plan that and she was excellent though not part of the hotel. Excellent hotel, deserves 5 star rating.

Very easy to get to from the airport. The tram was simple and we were able to take it into Zurich for a nice visit as well. Breakfast was a good spread with made to order eggs. The only issue we had was finding it the first time as the only sign we saw was a flag with the name on it. Other than that, it was a great choice to stay!

Very disappointing stay at the Kameha Grand during the Zurich portion of our trip this summer. Garage close by, so parking is easy. Staff was nice, but not overly helpful for travelers trying to figure out things like the local train schedule. Train station closer-by, easy walk. Rooms were just OK. Cutesy little safe handles on all the doors. Not located in the best part of the city, but safe. ||Our main criticism of the hotel (like the review of the restaurant there) is that they allow smoking in the building. We get it, in Europe smoking is much more of a thing than in the U.S., but the Kameha Grand was the only hotel we visited in two weeks that allowed smoking indoors. The hotel would claim “it’s only a section in the restaurant.” That may well be, but it’s like the early attempts to segregate non-smokers in U.S. restaurants into a different section, no walls, no fans, no filtration system, just a separate area. That’s the Kameha Grand. ||Apparently management is obvious to the spread of cigarette smoke throughout the building. It smelled like a casino with no ventilation. For the price, you have to do better than that. If you’re a heavy smoker, Kameha Grand is your kind of place. For a non-smoker, we cannot recommend you stay there.

This may have been a 4 star hotel several decades ago, but it's not anymore. The rooms and controls are somewhat eclectic with the bathroom and the bedroom areas being divided by "bank vault" sliders. The AC control in our room was non-functional when we got to our room. A call to the front desk resulted in one of the desk staff, who checked us in, coming up to the room and removing the controller with a screw driver. The controller worked for 5 minutes before shutting down again, which left our room uncomfortably warm. The fridge in the room barely cooled items below the room temp, so it was useless. And as a previous reviewer noted, the pillows are criminal. They're about the thickness of a blanket and need to be tossed and replaced immediately. One positive is if you have Marriott Elite status your breakfast is included, and the omelet cook is fantastic. Otherwise, I would definitely not stay here again.

Overall, my stay at Kameha Grand Zurich was disappointing. I specifically chose to transit in Zurich for one night to enjoy a more relaxing break and try the hotel’s sauna and spa. Unfortunately, the facilities were only open from 3pm to 9pm, which made it almost impossible for transit guests like me to use them. This limited schedule really gave the impression that the hotel does not welcome short-stay or transit travelers. The bathroom design was also poorly executed — the drainage in the shower was slower than the water flow, leaving the bathroom floor wet after every shower. As a Titanium Elite member, I also felt the hotel did not value loyalty. There was no upgrade offered, while my friend, a crew member staying on the same night, received one. After the stay, there was no guest survey or follow-up, which shows a lack of attention to loyal guests’ feedback. Another disappointment was the hotel’s restaurant L'UNICO; I had planned to dine there, but was told at check-in that it is closed on Tuesdays. On the positive side, breakfast was decent with a fair selection, and I appreciated the small welcome gesture in the room, which was a nice touch. However, these details were not enough to offset the overall experience. Stylish in appearance, but with operational and service gaps that made the stay less than satisfying.

Google
They were able to check us in early which was a lifesaver after an early morning flight, and the free hotel slippers they provided at the lobby were really surprisingly high quality! Aesthetically speaking, the hotel is a strange mix of Swiss and Taj Mahal - chocolate bar walls, doors, and conference rooms, bank vault doors and fridges, and then these really ornate oriental rugs and other decorative accents in the common spaces. Does it make sense? No. Is it still delightful? Yes. We got upgraded to a room with a huge, sparkling clean tub. Liked the electronic blind system too, felt fancy. No AC as others mentioned and also our sinks were clogged but we felt it was a great deal still overall with Marriott points.

Google
A lot of potential. This hotel is easy to navigate on the tram and close to the airport and other local sightseeing. However, the restaurant is not full service for dinner - yet the pizza was delicious that we ordered and ate in our room. The breakfast is great.

Google
glGenerally well-regarded for its unique design by Marcel Wanders, comfortable rooms, excellent spa, and attentive service. While located somewhat outside the city center, its proximity to the airport and good transport links are often cited as positives. Appreciate the clean and modern amenities, the good quality food and drinks, and the themed junior suites and beyond

Yelp
Very nice suite! My other favorite hotel on this trip. Decor-wise, it's not quite my style but the suite was not only spacious, it also came with a beautiful soaking tub. Of course, I made good use of it. The breakfast spread was also one of the better ones on this trip.

Yelp
From check in to dinner to the breakfast buffet, everything was perfect. Beautiful room, very nice staff. My only complaint is the air conditioning didn't cool very well. But this is Europe.

Yelp
I stayed here for a week. The front desk staff was beyond helpful and pleasant. The meals in the on sight restaurant were good and the breakfast buffet had a nice selection that was good in number and fit into many types of diets. The one thing I'd complain about is the lighting in my room. Way too dim. Other than that, it was a good stay.

Yelp
We stayed a single night, and luckily my Gold status provided us with a complimentary upgrade to a Deluxe King Room. By far the coolest interior by a Marriott Hotel I've been in. The BEST part about this room was the CENTER STAND-ALONE BATHTUB and CHANDELIER. The walls can be moved around for exposure and breathability. The sketched bedframe wall had an interesting themed art of the city's past. The bank vault to store your valuable goods was another cool concept for the room. We chose this Marriott Autograph Collection Hotel for its proximity to the airport. The neighborhood was quiet and gave off a business district vibe. The walk to the ground tram is a block (approx. three minutes walk) away. I loved this hotel for its hip and modern decor. In addition, it had a cosmopolitan vibe to attract a younger audience in the group. I would come back if I ever revisited the city.

Yelp
Very cool hotel, treated like a VIP, and a truly amazing breakfast. The hotel is located between the airport and city, so if you are not comfortable with taking the tram into town, it might not be for you. For us it was a great value and a hip, upscale place to stay. Once again, the breakfast buffet was truly amazing. It's not cheap, but it has everything and you can always grab an apple on the way out for later. The room was very cool; ours was kind of like a bank vault (how Swiss), and we had an amazing bathtub! The desk personnel were all friendly and very helpful. We loved it.

Yelp
Not a bad hotel. Nothing spectacular or amazingly comfortable but did enjoy the spa amenities, bathtub, and the hotel bar (which had food). Also appreciated it was close to the tram. Pros: - close to the tram to take you to the airport or to the city - decent spa amenities that are free for hotel guests (saunas, steam bath, foot baths, and relaxation lounge with outdoor space) - decent hotel bar that serves fries and other small bites (but the bartender was not very friendly) - bathtub in the room Cons: - the fridge in the room was not cold / working - the lobby leaves something to be desired - style and comfort of the room was average - no views

Yelp
We stayed here for our last 2 nights in Switzerland. My husband booked it as part of my Xmas gift. He is a Marriot Elite customer, but this had to be the worst experience. The room was nice, but our TV was not working. Then our shower flooded our entire bathroom. We attempted to call down to customer service and was hung up on multiple times. They finally answered and offered to switch our room, but we opted to stay until the morning. The next morning the water was so much we hurried to get out of the room and I accidentally left 3 pairs of brand new shoes. That same afternoon I noticed and asked customer service if housekeeping had found my shoes. They took hours to look, and when they finally went to look they said housekeeping never returned any shoes. I had no shoes to return home on my flight in. They offered no help in locating them, nor did they even appologize.

Yelp
Luxurious and streamlined hotel nested neatly between Airport & Old Town with Swiss Bank theme! Room are hi-tech & efficient from the elevators with 1 or less buttons that know which floor you're on; to the light setting for day, lounge, night at several locations in the room. There are also electric shades which you can operate as well. Not one inch is wasted in the bathroom. Vault doors open the main walkway into bath and one next to tub (by the bed). The shower & toilet share a mirrored door. There is also a "silhouette" mirror makes up the shared wall between toilet & shower. Convenient drawer in vanity as well. Tram ride is only 8 min ride on #10 & 12 lines. Tram ride is about 15-20 easy minutes to Old Town. ZVV is very reliable, convenient & clean. Recommend app to help with planning trips. One odd note is that no one checked/verified our travel passes the 4 days we were there. City pass also gets you on the ships/ferries, buses & trains. Excellent value:) Hotel is 5 minute walk to 2 tram station (N: Linderbergplatz & S: Glattpark). Hotel and trams are right off main road with great paved walking path. Also - several grocery stores, convenience stores & restaurants nearby! All only mins away and very safe. Breakfast is an extravaganza of cultures. Chefs will make to order omelets. Their croissants were especially flaky & make their own mini donuts. Fresh squeezed juices; lots of still or carbonated water; fresh fruit and American bacon & eggs as well European meats & cheeses! We thought we might regret not staying right downtown. However, we found it to be very nice hotel (& modern) whose location put no limits on sightseeing since it is right on Tram service. In fact, you can travel equally easy from airport/airport bahnhof & hauptbahnhof so it could expand your travel!

Yelp
I have stayed here multiple times for business travels. I really like the location as it's near the Zurich Airport via Tram line 10 or 12. The decor is 5-star for interior and exterior. It feels like a special place and if you book way ahead of time the prices follow the market. The breakfast selections are good but the same every day. So a little variety would make it better for customers who stay for 4-5 days or longer. This past week was unusually hot in Europe-and I really was disappointed and frustrated that the AC units would not kick in cooling down the rooms very well at nights. Their conservative programming of AC unit really made my sleeping experience less than acceptable and for a fancy hotel like this with high end finishes and prices to match, it's very shortsighted. The workers are all polite and courteous. I complained about the room Temp it was politely acknowledged and seemed well known so no corrections were offered. I also only used the fitness facilities once as on the top floor was simply too hot and unbearable conditions. Good sweat room!!

Yelp
Stayed at this hotel for a few days, combined business and then vacation trip in Switzerland. Normally, I am a fan of Marriott hotels. In fact, I am an elite member. However this hotel is less than stellar. Our in room TV never worked. We called down to the desk 4 times during our stay to have this repaired and it only worked for 1-day. Regarding in-room amenities, there were no wash cloths, only small bottles of soap, shampoo and conditioner - not environmentally sustainable and the fancy overly technical lighting system was just a headache. The gym equipment did not work. The concierge staff were less than knowledgeable or customer focussed. Two even lied to us regarding the status of our room upon arrival and check-in and regarding the TV. The critical saving grace was and is the wait staff (not manager) at the restaurant and the service/wait staff who attended to us at the meeting attendees. They were exceptional, courteous and professional. Keep the service/wait staff, but upgrade/change all else.

Yelp
This hotel is absolutely world class in nearly all facets of the hospitality business. The experience from the beginning to the end was an amazing showcase of service, class and just straight up sophistication. From the moment you arrive whether via taxi or Maserati (which they provide) you'll be amazed at the appearance of the lobby and friendliness of the staff. There are several room options and suites to choose from all of which have their own unique touch and element of sophistication. The rooms are extremely well thought out, modern and very livable for nearly anyone. The bathrooms are stunning, mirrors are true and overall decor is beyond modern. Naturally, I will certainly be back here and would highly recommend this hotel to anyone as this is up there with some of the top hotels in the world. Pros- Everything Rooms Decor Ambiance Suites Very modern Comfort Fantastic service Maserati service Elegance and sophistication Marriott autograph Restaurants and bars Cupcakes Chocolate upon arrival Spa services Cons- Not much walkable around

Yelp
-Rooms beautiful. Lots of easily accessible outlets. Efficient use of space (even the toilet door doubles as the shower door). Cool & groovy, modern decor. Excellent, soft carpets. Shower/Toilette perfect. Linens & towels excellent. (everything is down... allergy people be aware) -Staff welcoming, helpful & very friendly. Perfect. -Very clean. Downsides: 1) definitely an average mattress... not 5* quality. 2) if you turn the climate control to its lowest (16... though it never actually gets to 16) & you're alone, the room is comfortable. But for two, it's simply too hot to sleep (we were there in mid-November). Interior rooms have no exterior windows to open. 3) was there for a conference. Food was okay but very very bland/tasteless. Carpacio was clearly prepped too early in the day-was not worth eating. In summary, it's a lovely hotel. But they really do need to find a solution for the rooms being too warm... especially since it's geared toward romance, sex & turning up the pheromones. For the price, higher quality mattresses are definitely in order.

Yelp
Service - 5 Rooms - 5 Value - 5 Cleanliness - 5 The hotel is amazing!!! The staff is extremely friendly and service is impeccable. The rooms are also a lot of fun. It looks like your in a bank with a lot of safes. The bathroom is great and the shower is awesome!!! I'm missing the shower as I'm writing this. The bar is amazing with a great selection of beers and wines as well as a bunch of fun cocktails too. Ask for Su or Teddy... They are amazing workers with a bunch of knowledge that will help you make a good decision on what to order... They also have a great smile!! Kudos to them. I look forward to going back again soon.

Yelp
I can't speak highly enough of Kameha Grand Zurich. What a fabulous hotel! We stayed one night only - I wish we had more time here! We did not get to try the spa or the other pampering amenities, although I would have loved to. The reason I picked this hotel is because it is close to the Zurich airport - it is a quick 10 minute tram ride. There are two trams leaving from the airport with close by tram stops - it's an easy, less than 5 minute walk from the tram stop to the hotel. While I booked a regular room, we got a free upgrade for a deluxe room - we had a cupcake, a pound cake and two large fruit plates waiting for us in the suite. The bathroom was luxurious, complete with a gorgeous white soaking tub and a separate rain can shower. The decor was creative, incorporating elements for which Switzerland is famous - sliding bathroom walls that looked like giant chocolate bars, a bar/coffee station that looked like a bank vault. The bed was extremely comfy, and the bar/coffee station contained two free bottles of mineral water (one fizzy and one still), a Nespresso machine with all the necessary items for our morning espresso, and an assortment of teas. Additionally, the hotel staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. I would absolutely love to return to this hotel!

Yelp
Very hard to get in touch with front desk, there was a bug in my bed, food was not great, the sheets under the top sheet were legit RUBBER like what?? Nobody helped with my luggage, spa was closed the first day when I really needed it, they don't have limo service even though they said they did and room service is NOT 24 hours like they advertise, it closes at 11. They won't even bring your food up to you. Just an overall bad experience. My room was super tiny and the lights didn't work, I had to have someone come and show me how to use them because the buttons no longer worked the way they're supposed to (pushing "reading light" turns all the lights off for example, the "off" button didn't work to turn them off). Also, my mini fridge wasn't working, it was warm, and it took them two days to send someone to fix it. They didn't even send anyone I actually asked the guy who was looking at the lights to help me and he did. The employees were so sweet and gracious but they were so understaffed that there's no way they could've been able to perform their duties properly.

Yelp
In my opinion ridiculously overpriced. No doubt, the hotel is good. Lovely rooms with a beautiful bath and the personnel is very friendly. But the location sucks unless you're in to new concrete blocks of apartments. Shopping in the area is very limited. So if you want to spend too much money on sleeping, go here if you desperately need to collect Marriott reward points. If not, go to hotel Störchen in the old inner city of Zurich. Costs the same and is just as good, but has a fabulous atmosphere and an unbeatable location.

Yelp
Fantastic property. Amazing new and modern hotel in Zurich. Reasonably priced for a 5 star hotel. Friendly and informed staff. Beautiful modern designed rooms. Solid spa and fitness room. You won't be disappointed! Enjoy!

Jay F.

Yelp
Wow!!!! What a beautiful hotel. Strongly recommend We stayed in the Burlesque suite and it was one of the best rooms I've ever stayed. Great cupcakes. Great service. While this hotel is 20 min outside downtown... We really enjoyed it.
google avatar

David S.

Yelp
Sorry but a hotel's eco goals are beneath my comfort. This stupid hotel ties its AC allowance in rooms to the outside temperature. They only allow your room to be x degrees lower than outside. What a complete disaster of an idea. Put hotel before guest comfort. Nice setting but fact that I am uncomfortable to sleep is a death blow. Especially for premium. In morning, I will be asking for refund. Also, the switches for lighting are not intuitive. Hotel staff focus on customer comfort and service but biz side of hotel falls flat on face. I will talk about this negative brand experience for a good year or two.

Yelp
Amazing Hotel - Staff is excellent, especially Joy. They really take great care if you. I arrived early and they accommodate and early check-in and when I wasn't feeling well allowed a late check-out. The shower is amazing, just like a dream. Great water pressure and rain shower head plus jet nozzle. Bed is super comfy and was large king size which is hard to find in Zurich unless you pay 3X this rate. Can't say enough good things about this place. It's right off the tram line so easy access to city and also close to airport. Highly recommend!

Big D.

Yelp
A bizarre hotel with over the top pop art -- chocolate bar walls and a safe for the coffee machine. Sadly the service is painfully slow and spotty. Getting coffee and towels for the room can be a chore. The air conditioning also does not quite fit the bill. I was on the top floor in June and room never really got to a decent sleeping temperature. If you are big on pop style and don't care about service, this may be the place for you.

Caroline M.

Yelp
The bar is cozy and cool. The french fries and the craft beer are one of the best that I ate in Zurich. Very recomended it.

Martin M.

Yelp
Excellent luxurious hotel with great service and friendly staff. area is very quiet, just make sure you don't get room next to the elevator which can be heard. Breakfast buffet is rich and delicious!

John M.

Yelp
My family and I recently stayed in the Kameha Grand Zurich. The Kameha was such a great experience that I had to post a review. My wife and I and our two (older) children stayed for five nights in two adjoining rooms. The décor was fabulous, the service was impeccable and the breakfasts were great! Our rooms had a "chocolate" and "folk art" theme with some walls resembling chocolate bars others containing large intricate murals. Our girls loved the large soaking tubs. We loved the bar/lounge downstairs while they were in the tubs. I can't say enough on how helpful, attentive and friendly everyone was on the staff. The condition of the hotel is perfect and I mean, perfect. I have stayed in hundreds of hotels with years of status in both Hilton and Marriott programs with some very good experiences and some not so good. This was one of the best hotels I have every stayed in. The only downside is that it is not in the center of Zurich and there did not seem to be many nice restaurants within walking distance...but that is what the tram is for. If you are visiting Zurich and the surrounding area or just want an experience when flying through (it is only 10 minutes from the airport), stop looking, this is it.
