We stayed for an evening in September with our 2 dogs. The hotel is very dog friendly. Our room was lovely with great front view of the water. The owner and his staff are excellent and very helpful. Talk about multitasking as this is a very popular hotel which is also popular with the locals - always a good sign. We had an excellent evening meal and there was a good Friday night atmosphere. The breakfast was also a good experience very efficiently served by the friendly young lady who also served us our evening meal. The dogs were allowed in the breakfast room. We also met the friendly man who was busily doing the housekeeping and seemed very happy. The staff were all pulling together and certainly made a successful team. Thank you for a lovely experience. Can recommend.

Another great stay at the Kames. Always a peaceful, very friendly stay with amazing staff & views. The Kames is a total institution!! Not to be missed. Amazing views, hospitality, spotless ( thanks Neil), the best full Scottish breakfast ( thanks Irene) with eggs from the hens out back & locally sourced butcher’s sausage, bacon, haggis etc. |We have seated multiple times over the years visiting family locally. And, we will be back again! 💚

We visited The Kames Hotel during our stay in the area and were so glad we did. From the moment we arrived, the staff were warm and welcoming, making us feel right at home.||The food was outstanding — fresh, locally sourced, and full of flavour. The seafood in particular was amazing, clearly cooked with care and attention.||Add to that the beautiful setting overlooking the water, and you’ve got the perfect spot to relax and enjoy a great meal.||We’d definitely recommend The Kames Hotel and would love to return on our next visit!

Loved that it was dog and child friendly as have both and plan to make another visit with both in tow next time. Food was delicious and service was impeccable. However, I was there on a trip with my husband and we wanted to stay for dessert and more drinks but next to us was a family whose children were using screens with enough volume to entertain the whole room. I have kids and it's either volume off, headphones or other means to keep them occupied by being considerate to other restaurant users. Its such a treat to visit your fine establishment so is there a way that a sign could go up politely expressing expectations. I'm sure I'm not alone in these thoughts.

We stayed here for only one night and I wish now it was more. The food was exceptional and I really mean that, and my primary reason would be the breadth of the menu and the quality of the produce. I had free dived scallops from the Loch, a slow roasted shank if got with lentils, and a gorgeous lemon tart. All were exceptional. I loved the Kames 10/10

Dinner and drinks on a Thursday evening. Hadn't booked so arrived at beginning of dinner service hoping for a table. Young woman behind the bar was lovely and we got a table for 2 with a view of the west Kyle (beautiful). The decor is very comfortable and high spec. I had a St Mungos and my partner had a Bacardi. The Steak pie and Burger with Haggis we ordered were both absolutely delicious with home-made chunky chips and well cooked vegetables. Everything is locally sourced. We were very impressed and hope to be in this part of Scotland soon - highly recommend anyone coming here should make this a must visit for dinner. Staff we encountered were both really nice and friendly.

Food poor. Menu far too big to be freshly cooked. Steak pie was soggy after a few minutes in the microwave. Lady serving us tries to sound nice but it’s so false. Overpriced kids meals and the sausages were spicy, so kids leave it and eat the £8.50 5 chips on the side. They were more like potato wedges. Again, unsuitable for youngsters. Much better food elsewhere so my advice is avoid.

Yelp
We had lunch here. The menu is pretty standard - nothing too out of the ordinary. I had the veggie burger which was a bit on the mushy side but the chips were spot on. My friend had an open face prawn sandwich which decent. They have Scottish beers on tap and great outdoor seating overlooking the water.
