Kameya Hotel This hotel is located right on the beachfront, so you wake up to a wonderful view of the sea and sand. The interior is beautifully decorated in a traditional Japanese style, but with modern sensibilities—a fascinating mix of history, paintings, and artwork combined with updated comforts. There’s even a Zen garden at the front entrance that sets the tone perfectly. The rooms are large and well-kept. While the rooms themselves only have showers (spacious and nice), the real highlight is the onsen. Several baths are available, including some that look directly out onto the sea—absolutely stunning. Breakfast can be customized to be completely vegan. I enjoyed a beautifully prepared kaiseki-style vegan breakfast with seasonal vegetables, tofu, and miso soup. It’s served on a tray like in a restaurant, not buffet-style. There’s also self-service coffee and a few sweets available. For EV users: charging is completely free, with no apps required. The staff handle everything for you, which makes the process simple and stress-free. This stay definitely gets the Electric Vegan seal of approval.

Me and my girlfriend went to the Concept Suite - Horuai which was truly an amazing experience! The room is very big and has an amazing interior design with 2 private onsens. We had traditional Japanese breakfast and lunch which were made also with local ingredients and they were super fresh and tasty! This holiday will stay with us forever in our memories.

We arrived around 5pm to check in and were surprised how few people were around in such a large hotel . Looks like it was built for the conference market . Equally surprising that there was no option for dinner or any suggestions. We found a restaurant on Google map and asked the hotel to book this . Same thing happened the next night . No choice for breakfast - a large bento style with all Japanese options . No eateries for breakfast . Lovely Spacious rooms with sea view - large beds and deep tub which was filling when we arrived . Public women’s baths were quite small but only a few visitors .

I stayed here on a one-week tour of Tohoku. This hotel was a highlight, with a stunning view from the room and incredible food.

A some ‘large’ hotel but with boutique feel. Rooms are not old fashioned but lobby has classy old fashioned feel. Our bath tub came with onsen water, so essentially your own private onsen in your room!

My one-night stay at Kameya Hotel was unforgettable. The simple yet delicious breakfast, made with fresh ingredients, was a great start to the day. The stunning sea view at sunset was magical, and the exceptional onsen provided a perfect way to relax. Kameya Hotel is ideal for anyone seeking a refreshing getaway with beautiful views and warm Japanese hospitality!

Enjoy your time in the all-inclusive "Ryuguen Sauna" at no extra charge in the lounge, where drinks and other items are provided, and then enjoy the 1200-year-old Yunohama Onsen hot spring waters in the lounge. Dinner will be seasonal ingredients from Shonai, Yamagata Enjoy a relaxing adult trip. Enjoy a private time gazing at the ocean and soaking in hot springs and fine cuisine in the morning and evening on the special floor "HOURAI". All rooms on the upper 11th floor have an ocean view and hot springs in the guest rooms. This long-established inn has a long history and is said to be the ideal place where hermits live. It has been in business for 210 years

Overall rating: 4-1/3 stars||||Yunohama Onsen isn’t a hugely exciting place, but Kameya is an excellent hotel. The property overlooks the Sea of Japan. Service was unusually fine -- a strong statement, given that Japan is a country known for good service! -- from start to finish. Overall the decor and mood felt like a mix of modern Japanese and Western aesthetics. Our Japanese-style room was clean and spacious, with a large window (part of which was screened and opened to admit fresh air) looking onto the narrow sand beach and the water. The gender-separated onsen (public bath) was clean and pleasant -- inside and rotenburo -- and overlooked the Sea of Japan. Good wireless Internet was available in the lobby, as advertised.||||The food at Kameya was great. Clearly there is a capable and creative chef in the kitchen. Dinners were elegant and unhurried, and each course received careful presentation. The food paired well with locally produced sake. Our two dinners featured many kinds of fresh fish (e.g. tai carpaccio) and spring veggies (e.g. yummy white and green asparagus), with just a little meat (special pork and beef). Given advance notice, the hotel will swap out meat for fish. Breakfasts were delicious as well. The restaurant staff was attentive and professional.||||If your travels take you to the Tsuruoka area, I highly recommend staying at Kameya.
