The onsen is great and also the restaurant staff but these are the only positive aspects. There was a problem with our booking, which happens that is no problem - but the two male receptionists were notably unhelpful and made us feel like we had done something wrong. The food is below par for the price paid. The room is uncomfortable. We were made to feel very unwelcome and found the atmosphere very strange

Located in a very remote place, 45 minutes drive from Furano. Exactly like classic detective novel snow mansion setting. The entrance to the hotel ground is elusive. If you want to avoid the crowd, this is the place to choose. The view is fantastic. 5 minutes drive to the most wonderful free Fukiage Onsen. The room is spacious and the price is very good compared with hotels in Furano. There is free flow beer and whisky in the lounge from 3pm to 10pm. You need to order dinner when make room reservation. They don't accept ordering on the spot. Microwave is provided so you can package dinner from convenient shops in Furano.

Disregard any bad reviews. This place is heaven on earth. The staff is amazing and friendly, the onsen is rustic and extremely relaxing, and the dinner and breakfast is something I’ll never forget. If I could live here I would.

I would recommend this to fans of the Shining. The receptionist was pretty inflexible and wouldn't let us change our reservation despite offering to pay. At one point he had this crazy look in his eye and whispered "let's get it on" I think that's what he said. I don't speak Japanese.

I had expectation about this ryokan before the visit. My experience was much less than my expectation in every aspect. Food - It was OK, but I could not find more than that. Room - small as expected. It was not that bad for one night, but very old. They have the place named "lounge", but it should not be called as lounge. Only thing I could have at there was beer. They should remake this lounge. Onsen was good and outside pool was also amazing. I think this place needs much renovation.

A bit far from town and very isolated. But if coming from relax and enjoy quiet onsen , snow trail, and starry night, this is your place.

Stayed here for one night. The location is excellent. It's located near the woods and set high up in the mountains, but still easily accessible by car, just off the main road that passes through Mt. Tokachidake. It seems like they offer a shuttle bus service to/from the nearest train station as well. ||||The woods are beautiful. The views from the onsen is just gorgeous. It's positioned overlooking views of the surrounding area. Since the outdoor onsen is right by the woods, there will be quite a bit of flying bugs. We saw a deer meander through some bushes behind the parking lot. According to some posters in the hotel, you can see hawks and foxes too. ||||The hotel itself is certainly not a luxury ryokan. It's more like a mid-tier establishment. The rooms and facilities are worn, but clean and comfortable nonetheless. There's no air conditioning, but there's a fan in the room. ||||The service is very attentive, but since this is not a luxury ryokan, most things are self-service. However, if you needed help, for example - we needed very large yukatas, the staff is more than happy to help. ||||The guests take their meals in the dining hall. The dinner, which was included in our room rate, was not luxurious, but filling, hearty, and delicious. It was a set meal that included appetizers and a small hot pot, combined with a self-service buffet of pickled vegetables, different types of rice, and soups. Breakfast, which was also included in our room rate, was a a mix of Japanese and Western style buffet. ||||The views are really why most guests come. However, the hotel itself is very comfortable and the food, while not fancy, still very enjoyable. We were there with a big group of elderly travelers, but still found the place to be quite tranquil.

After reading the good reviews I decided to stay there. The remote location deep in the mountain was beautiful. So was the hot spring. However every thing else was average at best. Food was uninspiringly boring, the facility old and depressing like an institution, service was business-like, the big septic tank in the middle of the back yard outside of window that offered a beautiful view of mountains and valleys. With the price I paid, almost 19000 yen for a person, I expected a better facility. And, I don't trust any hotel with the toilet paper holder covered with a gramma's lacy needlework and the hallway with icy white fluorescent lights.
