Kamp Houkan-cho Backpacker's Inn & Lounge

The house is great and clean. The bed is comfortable. But their dryer didn’t dry the clothes. I put my clothes in the dryer for 1hr 45min and my clothes was still wet. Now I have to wear short sleeve in 12C temperatures and middle of the night just to get my clothes dry in the shop near-by. Just go to the laundry shop. Same price with better efficiency.

I didn't stay here but was invited to a concert. The owner was so kind to let us in for free. Lovely music from a super talented guitarist, great Japanese hospitality and service plus the food was fantastic! Can't recommend it enough. Lovely evening here. Great vibes

A great little place to stay in Okayama with a very cool & cosy bar/cafe downstairs. I was very happy to see they had a vegan curry and vegan donuts on the menu- both were delicious! Only thing to keep in mind is the only way to get up to the accommodation is via a big spiral staircase which is a bit tricky with a lot of luggage.

Fantastic stay! Ideally located in a charming alley just 7 minutes from the station, with plenty of izakayas and eateries nearby. There's also a bar on the ground floor that serves food. As a backpackers' hostel, expect bunk beds, gear on the floor, and basic amenities—but if you're up for it, the atmosphere is truly special. The standout is the staff: friendly, sociable, and incredibly helpful

Beautiful bar but the service was terrible. Staff did not even smile or greet us on entry. Ordered 2 drinks that took 15 minutes to make whole the shop was empty and even though the cocktail was supposed to be ¥600. The total came out to ¥3,000. It would be nice to be refunded for my time and money. Avoid.

Nice place, kind staff. Room was a little small, not a lot of place to leave the luggage, but the rest was ok!

Really close to okayama station. The most comfortable mattress and pillow i've had in japan so far. Very quiet, there aren't loads of beds, so it's not too crowded. Facilities were clean.

The location was good. No elevator. It might be difficult if you have a big luggage. There is free 1 welcome drink.
