Kananaskis Mountain Lodge Review | Hotels Above Par

"Set against sweeping Rocky Mountain views, the Kananaskis Country Golf Course is one of the most picturesque clubs I’ve ever seen; you can tee off amid dramatic scenery or simply soak in the panorama while enjoying a club sandwich on the nearby Summit Restaurant deck." - Britney Eschelman

A Dream Fulfilled at Kananaskis Golf Course ⛳️🌲 Today, I had the privilege of witnessing my daughter’s very first golf experience—and it couldn’t have happened in a more magical place than Kananaskis. This stunning course, surrounded by the majestic Canadian Rockies, is truly one of the most breathtaking locations I’ve ever visited in my life. What made it even more special was sharing it with my daughter and her lovely couple friends—four of us enjoyed a perfect round together. From the immaculately maintained fairways and greens, to the delicious food at the clubhouse and exceptionally kind service, every moment was flawless. What made it even more emotional for me was that 8 years ago, when I first visited this place, I dreamed of playing golf here someday. That dream finally came true—and it was worth every minute of the wait. As a Korean, this place also holds symbolic meaning: It was here that President Lee Jae-myung made his first diplomatic appearance just one week after taking office during the G7 summit—making this place even more unforgettable for us. Kananaskis, thank you for the memories. A bucket list dream, now fulfilled. 💚

One of the most beautiful courses in Calgary. Sure it is pretty expensive but you will be overwhelmed whats in front of you. Massive mountains looking down on you, rivers flowing, even wildlife sometime come visit the golf course. The course is cared and in excellent condition since they were closed for the G7. If the weather is good and lucky to get a tee time. Its a time you will never forget.

My review only reflects the dining experience. On Aug 4 2025, 6pm ish: terrible front desk girls who looked like had a bad day when dealing with getting us a table and not happy that we took out time to look and choose another table rather the one she offered when she could’ve quickly dumped us to the waitress. Overall Food is good, prices are alright, waitress is excellent and view is 100%! But if you want an event here, don’t come here as front desk will shut down your appetite and manager doesn’t seem to care enough. Bring cash to tip the kitchen and your server (if they’re nice) cuz they’re worth it.

Fantastic golf experience. Scenery was incredible. Layout of MtKidd course was more interesting than MtLoretta. Condition of both were really good from tee to green. Service staff were great everywhere. Price was reasonable for the experience.

What a beautiful course! Service is impeccable, driving range is great. Lots of spots. Played at Mt. Kidd - difficult green to read (hilly) but beautiful views. Would love to come back again. Didn’t get a chance to use clubhouse as it was closed due to electrical problems from the night before.

Such a great experience for the entire time we were out there. Service was top shelf and we were attended to very well. Food was good. Service cart came around a couple times and loads of great things to buy to commemorate the day. Worth every penny. Impressed with the shuttle from the parking lot too, an unexpected nice treat.

Personally, this was my second favorite course in the Banff area—right up there with the Fairmont Banff Springs. Kananaskis feels a bit more like an American-style course, yet it's still surrounded by towering mountains and stunning views. For a while, a photo from this course was even my phone’s wallpaper. That says it all.

What an absolutely amazing experience here. The course is so well kept. The surroundings are amazing and even the view from the patio after the round is done is just breath taking.

Yelp
The Summit restaurant is part of the Kananaskis Country Golf Course complex with patio seating looking out across the golf course and the beauty of the surrounding area. They also have seating inside which we escaped to when a brief rain shower started. I've been overeating on this vacation so this time I opted for something lighter, their Classic Caesar Salad. It was a nice change from my burger and pizza diet. This salad was well prepared and had a sprinkle of double smoked bacon on top. The 'not so classic' dressing as stated on their menu was excellent, just a little creamy and boldly had that solid Caesar taste. This was a much better salad than average. Our relaxing lunch was well-served by the staff, including taking the time to chat with us and using our phone to take a group photo. We learned the G-7 Summit leaders, who were in Kananaskis a couple of weeks prior, had all dined at The Summit.

Yelp
We had a late lunch on the patio of the Summit Restaurant and wow, our server Dee was so engaging with her personal recommendations and a very high level of service. She was very focused and attentive and had a wonderful personality which made our meal a very memorable experience! Can't wait to visit again! Thanks Dee!

Yelp
First of all, The whole experience playing was awesome, course conditions were great and all involved were absolutely friendly including the service, from the bag drop off to pro shop, they have a short shuttle service for your golf bags to the your cart. I was teamed up with other players, they were great. The scenery was absolutely spectacular the Mountain views, and the weather cooperated on the day of play. A must play when in the area.

Yelp
We played at the course today as part of a tournament with a fund company. Kudos to the company for the invite to this beautiful course. BUT our lunch was terrible.. they served chicken sandwiches with the meat so tough I could not eat it. It was beyond TERRIBLE, it was inedible. The waitress asked about it because she didn't return to our table until it was time to clear. I took 2 bites of mine. In general the table was disappointed but mine was likely the worst in the group but wasn't edible. All that she said was she'd tell the kitchen. No offer to replace or bring something different. Seems tight on staff... regardless, not an excuse. A new sandwich that wasn't shoe leather would have been quite acceptable. Good thing I wasn't paying the bill. I will be recommending to the fund company they choose another course. There are a number of beautiful courses with a relative distance from Calgary. Golf was great... restaurant, could not have been more disappointing. To the fund company, thank you for the invite, great event aside from the food/service in the restaurant.

Yelp
Golf course was outstanding as usual but I was terribly disappointed by the service at the restaurant. Our server was clearly overwhelmed and unable to keep up with all the tables she had. She disappeared for about 20 minutes as we were trying to get our bill. Finally I went up to the bar so I could pay to leave. The manager mumbled something about being understaffed but did not apologize for the slow service. This after I watched him walk by our table twice without clearing any of our empty plates or glasses, or asking if we'd like another drink. I know that's typically not the manager's job but come on Ethan, step up and give your servers a hand. Also a simple, sincere apology would go a long way instead of acting like everything is fine.

Yelp
Played Mt lorette last saturday and course was in great shape! Fairways and greens perfect. Staff were friendly and no hassle from marshall. Pace was very good for resort course, about 4.5 hours. Rate $125 incl cart. Will be back in few weeks!

Yelp
Wow. Beautiful, majestic golf course, nestled at the base of the Rockies. First year it has reopened since the flood, and I have to say that it's perfect. For starters, the course is nice and open, so it's suitable for golfers of all skill levels. But the surrounding landscape is pretty unbeatable. Conditions were fantastic, staff were friendly and helpful, and we had an amazing time playing the Lorette course. Also, for Alberta residents you can't beat the price! Under $100 a round including cart!

Yelp
Terrible experience. The twosome that we were partnered with had never swung a club before; they shared a set of clubs between the two of them yet the started let them play. No marshals on the back nine, some holes were a 30 minute wait before teeing off. We walked off after 14 holes. The experience was enough to never go back.

Yelp
Outstanding Golf course, spectacular, world-class views that take your breath away. I had the opportunity of playing there on opening day today (May 13, 2018) after the big flood damaged the course in 2013. The course is in great shape for the early season. Still a little snow around but not on the course. The local first nations and all the TV crews were out covering the event on a beautiful sunny morning. A must play course if in Alberta. The staff was very helpful, youthful and excited to be working there which showed the strength of the whole team and the management for creating a great environment and culture. I met the course professional Stu, who greeted me with much enthusiasm and I also met the proud GM this morning. I had the first breakfast served in the new restaurant which was also fantastic. The new deck off the restaurant is awesome. A few kinks but I had to look hard. Some staff was standing on the course close to where my partner was teeing off. The course marshal loudly came up to my cart in the midst of my swing only to tell me they had forgotten to take my cart number at the start. Small things but they may want to know. It was also very special to see the first nations blessing the course and they gave the course a beautiful old picture of Chief Buffalo head from 1929 near the opening date of the Banff Springs Golf course. Thanks for a memorable day.
