We had an amazing snowshoeing experience with Kananaskis Outfitters while visiting Alberta from Australia. The scenery was absolutely stunning and the whole experience was very well organised. Our guide Michelle was fantastic — knowledgeable, friendly, and made everyone feel comfortable regardless of experience level. She shared interesting information about the area and kept the pace enjoyable and relaxed. The hot chocolate at the end was a lovely touch, especially after being out in the snow — such a thoughtful detail that really added to the experience. We had a great time and would highly recommend Kananaskis Outfitters to anyone looking to experience the Canadian winter in a fun and memorable way. Thanks for an unforgettable adventure!

I loved the snowshoeing experience at Kananaskis Outfitters. We went as a group with kids, and they had a great time as well. The tour started on time, and our guide led us through a scenic loop while sharing interesting facts about the local nature and a bit of the area’s history. Along the way, we had time to stop, take photos, and really enjoy walking through deep snow. The hot chocolate and cookies were a lovely touch and much appreciated, especially by the kids. Overall, it was a fun, well-organized experience, and I would highly recommend Kananaskis Outfitters to families and groups looking for an enjoyable winter activity.

We had an amazing stargazing and snowshoeing tour last night. The experience was well organized and truly memorable. Our guide, Gemma, was a great guide, knowledgeable, professional, and clearly very committed to her work. She made the tour engaging and ensured everyone felt comfortable and included throughout. We would recommend this tour to anyone looking for a unique and unforgettable outdoor experience.

Michelle, our tour guide and owner was great! She took us on a private star gazing hike. She is very knowledgeable of local flora and fauna in addition to star gazing info! We loved the stop in the alpine meadow while chatting about both the science and folklore of the sky. The hot chocolate was a nice touch! Such a unique and fun experience!

Where do I begin, from the moment we walked in the front door to the moment we left, Michelle and her staff were absolutely amazing and friendly. She showed us so much while snow shoeing through the forest. Got to learn so much about the history of the area. Towards the end she took us to a magnificent viewing area where photos could never do it justice. We stood around taking in the beauty while have cookies and hot chocolate that Michelle had prepared for us. If I could rate 10 stars I would. Keep up the great work Michelle and thankyou for showing us Aussies your backyard.

Rented a couple of Fat Bikes and went winter biking. The team there were excellent and ensured we had everything we needed to have an enjoyable 3 hours. Nice ride up to Troll Falls.

Had an awesome experience renting xc skis! They were very accommodating and I felt like it was reasonably priced. The equipment wasn’t the highest quality but for rentals it was great.

Great time with our amazing tour guide Claire! Yes the weather was challenging but we made great memories and had a ton of fun all the while learning so much about the Kananaskis area!

My wife and I had an excellent experience for her birthday with Claude and Stacey at Kananaskis Outfitters. Great conditions and ideal temperatures. Even though the stargazing conditions were somewhat at risk, they turned out great! The conversations was amazing for all of the group and Claude and Stacey's knowledge and explanations were top notch. I will be recommending to friends, family and clients.

Kananaskis Outfitters is one of the only companies that rents canoes in the area on site rather than for self-transport. Since we do not have a roof rack, this was a must. You can find them in the Barrier Lake parking lot starting at 10am until 6pm every day renting out canoes, kayaks and stand-up paddle boards. Getting there early is a must. All items are rented on a first-come, first-served basis. We got there at 9:30am on a Tuesday morning and there were already two groups ahead of us in line. The rental fee for a canoe also includes paddles and lifejackets. Everything is cleaned between customers and the boat was in good repair. My only complaint in regards to safety was ironically with the safety discussion. The staff member decided to give a group talk rather than one-by-one which was fine but she encouraged us all to group up close. There were more than 20 people present and some of them were not respectful of social distancing. I ended up having to move a fair distance away to feel safe.

We did the Snowshoe & Stargazing Tour Likes: Tour Guide, the few stars we did see, the fun facts our guide was providing about the trees and wildlife in the area, and the majority of the trek through the forest. Dislikes: Length of time (we started about 7:15 and were back in our rooms at the lodge by 8:40, not the full 2 hours I was hoping for), group size was just slightly too large, and the last bit of the trek being back on a road.

Best Adventure Experience! I have been coming here for almost a decade to rent snowshoes in the winter and bikes in the summer. I always have the best days! The staff are so friendly and answer all my questions about the area trails. Their prices are great for renting and they even have a store with all my favorite outdoor brands. Better than shopping in the city! I would definitely recommend visiting the awesome people at this shop next time you are in Kananaskis!
