This place is a famous spot. With all the locals. Was hard to find but worth every minute. Hidden back alley off main town street. The smell of the bread loaves will tell you that you're in the right place. Keep going. You will hear voices in the alley under the sheet metal roof. You have found it. These are a HEAVENLY treat.!!! Best ever.!!

Google
Hot bread is definitely the greatest thing since sliced bread. The ube hot bread was truly divine (we got all our flavors with cream cheese as well). The guava and blueberry are also very good as well. Don't worry about buying a bag they got you. I'll definitely be back every time I'm in Molokai!

Coming back to Molokai at as an adult with young kids, I had to stop by Kanemitsu Bakery to relive some childhood favorites. This little hole-in-the-wall in Kaunakakai still serves up the kind of food that makes you feel at home. We had the blueberry pancakes, beef cutlets, and Molokai bread French toast—everything was spot on. The pancakes were fluffy and packed with blueberries, the beef cutlets were crispy and smothered in rich brown gravy, and the Molokai bread French toast was soft, thick, and just the right amount of sweet. Nothing fancy here—just good, old-school local food that hits the spot. If you’re back home visiting or just looking for a solid meal, Kanemitsu is definitely worth a stop. They close Tuesday and Wednesdays so make sure you go from Thursday-Monday.

Best breakfast and service in town! Will definitely be back to buy some bread before we leave. Appreciate them opening early also. Thanks!

Google
While we were disappointed the restaurant was closed when we visited, the bakery was still open and we got two delicious pastries, one as a free sample for the closure! The I’ve donut was perfect, the perfect amount of sweetness and fried perfectly. We also got a butter roll which was delicious. The woman working sat and talked with us for a while, giving us great insight on what it’s like to live on Molokai. I hope to come back someday and try the restaurant!

Google
Nice local restaurant whose menu and atmosphere reminded me of the places I grew up going to on Guam. I had the kimchi fried rice for breakfast, and my partner had the fried egg sandwich. Also purchased taro donuts to go. Everything was delicious. They were short staffed that particular morning, so service was slow. But perhaps just a classic observation of island time, cause truly, what reason is there to rush? Cool that you just seat yourself at your preferred seat, and they'll get to you when it's your turn. Otherwise, you can just order from the bakery up front for pastries and take out orders. We didn't make it back for the hot bread in the evening, but trust that the hype is real.

Google
The hot bread at night is pretty bomb. I got four loaves of the strawberry with cream-cheese inside and it was great. Everyone I gave it to on Oahu the next day were stoked to get it, and it still tasted great. I can't wait to go back to Molokai one day and stay overnight.

Google
I just don’t understand the reviews for this establishment! I was there a few days ago and I will never go back. This restaurant/ bakery is absolutely disgusting. There are dead roaches, roach waste, rat waste, dirt & dust everywhere! I wish that I would have taken pictures. Apparently they were inspected in January and they passed! WHAT!!!!! Now I have no faith in the agency responsible for food safety. My recommendation is to stay clear of this place

Yelp
Legendary bakery on incredible Molokai, baking bread at night. You stop off at the main downtown area. Walk down a dark alley with a spooky old wooden building off to the left. After that you take a left and the back of the bakery is there. There are a bunch of people waiting for their bread and it seems it's the thing to do on the weekends!!!! The breads can be ordered with various fillings and you can even get all of the fillings in one loaf for a little more $. Overall, very affordable and awesome. But heed my warning! Get this bread when you can. Don't listen to the people in the daytime telling you to wait until night if you need to take home bread the next day. We listened and when we went at night - NO MORE BREAD. All out..... We were BUMMED. So just order the bread and get it when you can.

Yelp
Molokai, Hawaii Every night except Mondays, you can get hot bread. But not from the bakery....go right from the front door and turn left into the small roadway. Walk past the leaning house and turn left into the covered alleyway. You'll hear women singing along to music, and see a small window where you can place your orders. While your bread is baking, you wait in the alley until your name is called. Ordered plain and butter with cinnamon. Others ordered double cream cheese, the works, guava and cream cheese, ube, strawberry....$10 for plain. Or you could wait till the next day and buy a day old bread in the bakery for $2.99.... Get your hot bread, rip off a piece and gobble it up as you walk back to your car. This is the thing you do when on Molokai...and the bread is ono.

Yelp
Molokai Hot Bread 7:30pm run 2nights in a row. We were #1 in line the first night. I love the back alley action. Adds to the ambiance. We have it on Oahu but I was told little bit different recipe and just not as good as getting it on Molokai...plus can't beat fresh bread. I don't like sweets, so got the plain. Yum, we used it to toast with steaks the next night. DELISH. Hubs and friends got strawberry/cream cheese and mango something. Hubs stands by the original flavors and thinks strawcream is the best. We also hit up the coffee shop in the morning. Loco moco with fried rice. I wanted kim chee fried rice but had to share with the baby and wasn't sure how spicy kim chee would be. It was still good.

Yelp
A need-to-go spot if you're ever in Moloka'i. The staff are kind, and the bakery is quiet, slow, and cozy. Known for its famous Moloka'i Hot Bread, you can preorder at the bakery and pick it up the next day. However, nothing beats having it fresh. For the freshest experience, head down the dark alley at night to order the hot bread directly.

Yelp
Our normal go to when on molokai, they have tons of great food, real homey food. They have the bakery out front with all their sweet treats and sweet tooth's out there. Not to mention all their wonderful molokai bread. Then you can even go late night to get the molokai hot bread loves with various cream cheese fruit flavors and even cinnamon. Just so you are prepared, they have all natural Hawaiian ac (aka molokai breeze haha). They also have a small staff, so if you go during busy hours it can take some time for food to come out.

Yelp
Great bread and Great people! My only disappointment was this last time we went Molokai in September I bought 2 cinnamon toast and both had gone bad. I was already back on Oahu when we opened the bag, so couldn't do anything. In the past I've always brought back cinnamon toast for my office and everyone loves it! Better luck next time.

Yelp
I dream about the day I go back to Molokai and eat Kanemitsu's cheeseburger again. Kanemitsu's Bakery & Coffee shop is a mom-and-pop shop. When you enter, you're transported to nostalgia. I remember going to places like this as a kid with my grandparents and it brings me so many good memories. Not only is the ambiance nostalgic, but the service is cozy, welcoming, and full of life. At Kanemitsu's, I came in for breakfast and ordered a cheese burger and a poi donut. Let's start off with the poi donut, it was a perfect balance of sweetness and the dough had a light and airy texture. Perfect with a cup of black coffee. As for the cheeseburger, that is the showstopper. From the first bite, I knew I discovered something special. The burger was juicy and filled with flavors, while the fresh toppings gave it a nice crunch and balance. Lastly, the buns used were Molokai sweetbread that were baked there. Each bite was a burst of pure deliciousness that left me craving more (I still crave it!!). If you find yourself in Molokai and craving an exceptional cheeseburger or baked goods, Kanemitsu's is the place to go. Trust me, you won't be disappointed.

Yelp
Home of THE famous Moloka'i bread. Here's my experience AMBIANCE: Parking: Street parking. It comes and goes but in a small town, parking can get bread. Seating: Inside seating for about 50 people. Great for groups and pairs. Feels: It's in the heart of Kaunakaki, you really shouldn't be able to miss it. It's your small town feel so nothing flashy but a lot of people mixed with visitors and locals. The place itself is your usual hustle and bustle restaurant. You are welcomed with the smells of the fresh baked goods and the chatter of people. Great place for a pit stop or grab and go delights. FOOD: Moloka'i Hot Bread - The Works (Recommend) A medley of strawberry, blueberry, cinnamon, butter, and cream cheese. A soft yet huge serving of bread. I was concerned that it would be too sweet but that wasn't the case. It was a good balance of sweetness and the flavors mixed pretty well as the cream cheese and butter balanced it out. At first, I didn't think there was enough spread but it was a pretty good balance. The bread was soft and I enjoyed the creamy texture. After putting this in the oven for a toasted texture, it was even more phenomenally delicious. CUSTOMER SERVICE: Aunite Raquel was great! Friendly, knowledgable, and patient TL; DR OVERALL: 4.5 Stars. Fantastic! Great selections, reasonable price, and good service. This place may not be flashy but has a lot of history which really makes the feeling pleasant. I am definitely coming back here again. Till next time, Kanemitsu! Tips: * Can't do late night hot bread? Ask them for updated times orPre-order! * Not in Moloka'i, they expanded to the other islands as well. * https://www.mauinews.com/news/local-news/2018/03/longtime-molokai-baker-just-got-the-surprise-of-his-life/

Yelp
We came for the famous hot bread, served after 7:30 most evenings down a side alley. The staff is very friendly and the bread warm and fresh with sweet fillings of your choice. My husband liked it better cold the next day though, LOL. This is a must stop if you're visiting quiet and secluded Molokai, which is otherwise more of a nature experience.

Ruth A.

Yelp
Bread is very soft and the filling I tried was quava and butter cream. I melts in da mouth good! You can't stop eating.
google avatar

Yelp
Their bread is fluffy, soft, and fantastic. My only qualm is that they were almost sold out by the time we went in the afternoon-- guessing from the other reviews, we should've gone at night when they were fresh. Regardless, I can confirm that any loaf is delicious, even when eaten the next day.

Yelp
This a staple since the 1950s. It's a basic coffee shop/bakery. At night the bakery sells what they call hot bread. Bread they bake and spread with some jams, butter, etc. Unfortunately the day I wanted to go they were close so ended up buying some bread. Half the place is restaurant, no frills, like the island itself but the people are friendly. Tita Linda was funny. She was our server and was joking with us and when I told her I happa she really started talking. Ordered the taro pancake special and cheese omlette special. The pancakes were good and the rest not too extraordinary, but I like I said it was the atmosphere. A nice change from cooking at our vacation rental.

Yelp
Good food and fabulous baked goods, but as a restaurant, it can be a bit rough around the edges. While I was in Kaunakaki, one of their weekly specials was French toast with an egg, your choice of meat and coffee for $14.99 It was so good, and such a deal, that I had it on both visits.I also got a fine blueberry turnover to take home, and all the bakery items looked enticing. That said, they don't give you real cream with the coffee, just powdered fake stuff, and on my second visit, they were short-handed, and the service was pretty ragged. But the steady stream of locals coming in for bread and pastries tells me this is a beloved local business, and understandably so. Definitely worth trying, just understand that things here may move at the pace of "island time.""

Yelp
An icon in Kaunakakai. The staff who work here sre super super nice. Love them. They sell a variety of bread, but it's all the soft white bread. If you are looking for a crust, look elsewhere lol. They have French bread and then a bunch of varieties with jam slather on top and sometimes swirled inside including coconut, pineapple coconut, strawberry, guava, etc. They also sell cookies and cinnamon buns. Apparently their lavash is very good, but I didn't have a chance to try it. Infamous for the 'Molokai Hot Bread' only available at night.

Yelp
Breakfast at Kanemitsu opens at 7 AM. On the menu are classics everyone might enjoy. Next time I visit I plan to bring several items from the bakery home with me to enjoy. Both the restaurant and the bakery accept credit cards.

Yelp
I never been here personally but I received a bag of their famous macadamia nut cookies from one of my awesome neighbors. I've been perusing through the reviews and found out that this place is a local favorite. One thing most reviews mentioned was their hot bread and fresh baked goods. They made it seem like best thing on earth. I also read that they also make some ono kine food. The word "ono" for my non-local Yeeps mean tastes good. They have breakfast to die for and kalbi, and honey dipped chicken that would make you slap your momma. (Ah thats just a saying, don't ever slap momma if you know whats good for you) I have never been to the island of Molokai but I might have to fly there one day and grab some of their "famous" hot bread and a good meal or two. Maybe my awesome neighbors will get me some. Haha. Nah I think I will have to get it fresh. Hopefully I can go after they lift the quarantine on flying. Until then, I will just have to dream about about sinking my teeth into their hot bread.

Yelp
Good local comfort foods. Super friendly staff. Old Hawaii style coffee shop. Home of the famous "Molokai Bread."

Yelp
I've been all around the world but have yet to step foot on an island just 7.5 miles away from Maui: The island of Molokai. Some say I'm not missing out on anything, but I disagree. I love to experience new places, from its people, to its beaches, to its eateries. So how did I end up writing a review on the infamous Kanemitsu Bakery? The People Who Clean company of Maui generously donated loaves of bread to healthcare workers on Maui! THE GOODS: Molokai Enriched Bread (plain, no filling) I've heard about it for ages but never tried it until now. I'm not a "bread person" or fanatic per se, as it's just something that holds other foods together or served as a filler before your entrée. Don't get me wrong as a few have floored me, like that good sourdough which held up my eggs benedict at Kitchen Story (restaurant) in San Francisco. This sucker is hefty at one whole pound! But cut into it and it's light and fluffy as can be. I asked others how they ate theirs. Some warmed it up then lathered with butter and jelly while others stated that the cream-filled ones are to die for. I simply sliced an end off and spread some strawberry preserve on it. It was good - soft and airy but there was no wow-factor for me. It was just... bread. Perhaps I should've used a more creative topping/preparation or need to have it pre-filled by the bakery (with strawberry, blueberry, butter, crème cheese or cinnamon flavors according to pictures) to knock me off my feet. OVERALL: While I totally appreciate the 5-star gesture from PWC Hawaii, the Kanemitsu's bread is a 3-star for me.

Yelp
I've had the pleasure of dining at Kanemitsu's Bakery & Coffee Shop many times through the years (when I had to do work on Molokai). A good thing about Kanemitsu's Bakery & Coffee Shop is that they are opened from 5:30 AM to 5:00 PM everyday, with the exception of Tuesdays (they are closed), so if you fly into Molokai in the wee hours of the morning, and are looking for some good grub........sure enough Kanemitsu's is open! What Kanemitsu's is known for is their fresh breads baked daily, and the nice thing about their breads...........they don't use any preservatives. I was told by friends that Kanemitsu's bread is so popular & famous that when they are baking their breads at night, when you can smell the fresh bread being made, you can actually go down a alleyway & look for a neon light. You knock on the door, and I heard that you can purchase the bread freshly made out of the oven! Looking on the internet, I found this story..............see the link - https://www.wheretraveler.com/hawaii/eat/hawaiis-hot-bread-sensation Through the years I've purchased several different types of their delicious breads. If you're not into breads, they do sell other baked items like cookies, pastries, custard pies (I hope to try one day), as well as an item called "Toasties" which is some kind of toasted bread with some sort of flavoring on it. If you didn't come here to buy any baked items, the bakery does have a coffee shop where you can get a meal here. I was lucky enough to do both breakfast, & lunch here at one time or another. The menu is pretty simple, and they basically serve local style comfort meals. The bakery & coffee shop is really old skool..........as it was established in 1935, and as you can see in the pics, it probably looks like a throw back in time when you walk inside of the establishment. Nothing fancy here, just a old time mom & pop bakery coffee shop establishment. Check 'em out gang...........no can go wrong!

Yelp
Now with Kalaupapa being closed to outside visitors, bread run is about the only "attraction" on Molokai. Still the way to enjoy Hawai'i as it once was. Hot Bread is best flavor on Molokai and now available on O'ahu.
google avatar

MM N.

Yelp
The Kanemitsu bread did not disappoint. Appreciated that I was able to put in a pre order and they had it ready on a Sunday. This is significant because a lot of people were flying home after a stay on Molokai and the bread was "flying" out the door too because it is so popular and so delicious!
google avatar

Richard N.

Yelp
It's not just about the hot bread. Massive space, filled with lots of yummy breads and pastries. Everything is amazing here. So many delicious choices, we had to bring a box home for the family almost every morning of our visit to Molokai! Friendly, helpful and funny people. Don't be afraid of the alley at night... it's worth the trip for the hot bread.
google avatar

Joey R.

Yelp
The famous "hot bread" from Kanemitsu's Bakery alone is worth a trip to Molokai. Heta, the host & cashier was helpful, courteous and kind. She highly recommends the Taro doughnut. In my case, I elected for the coconut pastry and cinnamon doughnut. (*Arrive early for the Taro doughnuts; They were sold out during my 1st visit. No worries, I'll be back. Food for thought: Early bird gets two Taro doughnuts ) Opened in 1922, the bakery has a legendary reputation on the island for its popularity amongst locals and tourists. For a midnight snack, go late at night when the bread is freshly baked and choose a filling combination (strawberry cream cheese and cinnamon with cream cheese is a fan favorite) and eat an entire loaf in one sitting.
google avatar

Andi T.

Yelp
The restaurant in the morning for breakfast was good. The taro waffle was warm, soft and crispy on the edges. The papaya, eggs and sausage were exactly as expected. The corn beef hash was alright. The breakfast was good especially considering it's really the only place to go that early in the area. The bread at night when it's fresh is literally the best thing I've ever tasted. We went back and got two loaves every night we were there. We tried cinnamon, strawberry, mango, blueberry, and raspberry. ALL THE FLAVORS WERE PHENOMENAL. (We also just tried ube on Oahu wowee, so good). The bread is so warm and they do not skimp out on the filling. It's so good and the perfect amount. The auntie taking orders every night was so sweet and patient with all the people ordering at the window. There is tons of parking at night and a short walk to the window, it's relatively easy to find with how small the town is as well.
google avatar

Nat W.

Yelp
This review is strictly for their hot bread. I have encountered their bread at Made in Hawaii festival. The bread is huge and was sold at $10. Iy was not particularly moist and tasted pretty old fashion. I just did not find it that good or special, maybe because I am used to eating fine and delicaye French and Japanese bread and pastries. People probably would hate me for my review but this is just my opinion.
google avatar

Alexander G.

Yelp
Kanemitsu's is the place to get genuine Molokai bread on Molokai. The store is a combination of different shops: it's a bakery for bulk or individual treats, it's a coffee shop, it's a restaurant, and it's a thrift store. Parking is ample and free, located along the main street right outside. It's a big old building that has an empty feel. The bakery is forefront with glass counters featuring the different types of bread, plus fresh donuts and pastries. Prices are very reasonable; they take credit card. On the left is the coffee shop that has the old diner style fixed booths. We didn't get to eat here. They have lots of glass cabinets with toys and homegoods; new or gently used. The only staff member we interacted with wasn't friendly. All of our purchases were delicious! It's worth a stop, even if it's just to get items to-go.
google avatar

Kimo K.

Yelp
Kaunakakai is a one street one horse town ... and the horse left. The Hawaiian sweet bread is famous and fresh ... it's about seven dollars now, but remember it lasts a long time and first came on a boat with Portuguese sailors. It would be nice if they had some tables by the window so that you can see that there are actually people inside having plate lunch, reasonably priced local food with a view of the street and all the action. Might need to spruce up the front though it doesn't even look like it's open sometimes ... open the windows pit in some fans and get solar panels on roof create air conditioned space ..

Yelp
Here in Molokai for an educational seminar and everyone recommends this place as the best on in the island for some authentic breakfast and it did not disappoint!! The bread was amazing, reminds me of when I was growing up in the Philippines. I got the sausage, eggs and rice and it was enough to fill me up for the day!
google avatar

Chris H.

Yelp
While on Molokai, don't miss getting the hot bread. They open down the back alley at 7:30pm. Be aware, "hot bread" doesn't mean the bread is hot. I don't know why it's called that but, hey...it's good! My recommendation: cinnamon, cream cheese, and extra butter. Take it home, warm it up, and have an amazing experience akin to the best cinnamon roll you've had. Ono!
google avatar

Victoria C.

Yelp
A wonderful selection of baked goods to choose from. Very friendly service and atmosphere. A local even bought my son a doughnut out of generosity. Bathrooms are available for customers, clean enough but not the best. A local menu of island favorites that are yummy. Nothing too crave for but will go back again if we need a place to eat, especially since it's not a very big selection

Yelp
This IS The Place!!! Molokai Hot bread!!! SO ONO!!! We spent this past weekend 6/26/21 on this beautiful island first stop was kanemitsu's for pastries. We bought the butter rolls, coconut half moon, long John, taro donuts on a stick and of course the Hot Bread. All the pastries was really good. Not to sweet but just right. Sunday, Tuesday-Thursday they sale the hot bread late evening 7:30-10 A Must Grab! Line gets really long. You can get Strawberry w/cream cheese, strawberry w/ butter, blueberry w/ cream cheese or butter, cinnamon w/ cream cheese or butter. There's so much to choose from. Plain or with filling you will not be disappointed They also have a little restaurant inside to the left of the bakery and they serve breakfast& lunch items. We went in on the last morning we was there. We had breakfast. The wait was REALLY long, we almost missed our flight but we didn't mind lol breakfast was good simple homemade, food that will fill you up. We also bought molokai sweet bread and THIER cinnamon toast (so Ono) they also have a garlic toast I didn't get but I will next trip. So much aloha the staff had and we appreciated it. A must visit when you enjoy the beauty of Molokai

Yelp
This restaurant is a landmark on the island and makes the original Molokai bread. (There's an Oahu-based food truck that makes "Molokai-style" bread, but this is the real stuff.) The restaurant serves pastries, breakfast, and lunch. It's a great place to meet and get a hot breakfast complete meal. The setting is 1960s or 70s, but it is clean. The waitresses are friendly and helpful. I ordered French toast and bacon. The meal included a fried egg, papaya, and coffee for under $10. A lot of locals eat here, pick up their bread or pastry orders, and go on to their daily routine. The restaurant also serves lunch, but only had their breakfast. Kanemitsu Bakery is also known for their hot bread, where they cut freshly baked Molokai bread and put strawberry and cream cheese inside. I usually order a day in advance, but I've been told that there is a line in the alley to get it fresh the evening it's out of the oven. If you are planning a trip to Molokai, order your bread in advance, and pay by credit card.

Yelp
We stopped by about 7:30 pm for the hot bread. We were confused because the main storefront on the Main Street was closed. We were disappointed. But we asked the guys hanging out on the corner about the hot bread. They were warm and friendly and pointed us to the alley to the right of the bakery. Down that alley on the left we found amazing bread. Super fresh, delicate, flavorful and huge loaves for about 8 bucks. Not realizing their size we ordered three- easily enough for 9 people. But we wanted the flavor samples. They were incredible. Do this if you ha e a chance.
google avatar

Laura S.

Yelp
The kindness of the staff here was amazing! Auntie Linda pulled some strings and got them to make us some molokai sweet bread during the day (usually you have to line up and pre-order at night). The food is also amazing! Definitely the best breakfast on molokai. I got the egg sandwich and it was so delicious! Also very filling. My husband got the oatmeal special. You'd think oatmeal wouldn't be that special but it was some of the best oatmeal I've ever had. The looks of the place is pretty unassuming but the hospitality and food make this still a 5 star place!
google avatar

Shawn H.

Yelp
We went here several times while on Molokai. Three times for breakfast and 2 times for the hot bread. The hot bread is 5 stars for sure. Breakfast french toast is 5 stars, and overall breakfast food is 3 stars. The taro root donut is amazing and 5 stars. Be prepared to wait awhile for breakfast, especially with a crowd. Service is good, but this is Molokai and everything is a little slower. 1 waitress for the whole place. The sweet bread french toast is where its at though.
google avatar

Bridget L.

Yelp
I've been waiting to go here since I first visited Moloka'i and they were closed every time we stopped by. Finally one Sunday morning we had time and they were open yay! We sat at the restaurant and ordered the special, taro pancakes! They were so good! They had maple and coconut syrup which were both yummy. I also tried the Moloka'i hot bread French toast which was really moist and flavorful. We didn't leave without ordering from the Bakery, I got 4 taro donuts to take home to my keiki. They loved them and so did I. I need to go back again just to visit here.
google avatar

Lisa M.

Yelp
Waaaaaaay overdue for some 'ono Moloka'i hot bread. Fresh and hot with yummy flavors!! Don't forget to have cash.
google avatar

Helen T.

Yelp
The famous hot bread of Moloka'i! We took a turn into the alley as all the yelp reviews so kindly instructed me to and found a sign for hot bread! I followed the sign and walked to the half open back door. There was a lady that took our order and walked over to a fold up table where she had bread and buckets of jam, cream cheese, and butter. Simple setup but delicious results! We chose the two flavor (blueberry and cream cheese) hot bread and paid $8.50. The hot bread is a huge piece of French bread split in half with jam and cream cheese slattered on top. It was definitely bigger than my head! It was sweet, creamy, and best of all, piping hot! The two of us were only able to eat a quarter of it tonight, but will continue to eat it tomorrow! It was a fun dessert adventure to go on after dinner!

Yelp
So this morning I had a cup of coffee and the best long john ever. This evening I went to get the hot baked bread with butter, cream cheese and strawberry jam. Can't wait to get back to my hotel room...mmmmmm! I just wanted to add that the staff is always welcoming and friendly.

Yelp
It's a decent breakfast joint and is also a local favorite. We were pretty much regulars there for the entire month we lived. Taro pancakes are an absolute hit. Best time to go for the popular hot bread is 7 pm, when it is served fresh out of the oven. It was huge and enough for two people. One thing which disappointed me is the they were using readymade jams and not fresh which I was expecting. The best combo is cream cheese, cinnamon and butter.

Yelp
Nice people, but it just wasn't for me. I know everything is a little slower here but this place is definitely on a slower mode. And the place and cooking process doesn't look too sanitary. Thinking about my food makes me want to gag. Everyone I was with ordered French toast, which didn't look too bad, but was a little undercooked. I ordered the fried rice with two eggs over medium eggs. The eggs were cooked perfect, but I did not care for the fried rice, especially the sweet red pork in it. We didn't get a chance to experience the bread process since it only occurs at nightbut I attached some pictures of the area. Let me point out that the pictures don't show the dead cockroaches along the way and the disgusting scent of urine.

Yelp
Great hot food, breads and pastries. Talk to a local for the 411 on getting hot bread fresh out of the oven. A must visit on any trip to Moloka'i.

Yelp
If you come to Moloka'i, everyone (locals) says you gotta stop at Kanemitsu's. So of course, Breakfast and get their famous bread. But I have to say their pastries are a "MUST ". So soft and delicious. We had a cinnamon roll and two taro donuts. Yummy. Ordered bread to order so that we can take some home. Oh and we did order breakfast which was good, but we were there for the bread!

Yelp
Relax, your food is coming. Island time but worth it. Had the french toast made with the famous bread. It was so good. Also had some fried rice for breakfast, also great. Good people all around.

Yelp
Growing up, I spent every summer in Molokai. My mom was born & raised in Molokai & I'd spend summers with my grandparents & cousins. Molokai Bread / Kanemitsu's is a must when you're there. When we were little, we'd stay up late just to get Kanemitsu Hot Bread - Hot Bread with "Da Works" - Strawberry, Cream Cheese, Blueberry, Cinnamon & Butter. As we got older & we'd stay up late drinking, Molokai Hot Bread was a MUST before going to to sleep. Happy Eating!

Yelp
One of the few things Molokai is known for, I remember stopping here for their cheese bread as a kid. Over the years, Kanemitsu Bakery has become famous for their Hot bread and other baked goods, but even more recently, I heard that the State Department of Health shut KB down because of countless chances the owner has been given to fix the many health code violations. I hope the owner gets his act together or else another one of Hawaii's and Molokai's favorite businesses is gone forever...:( ...........ALOHA!!!
