Location, Location, Sanity! Kaneyoshi Ryokan doesn't just offer a great location; it offers an immersive experience in organized chaos. Step out the front door and you’ll instantly be swept up by the throngs of excited tourists—it’s less "strolling in Dotonbori" and more "participating in a high-energy human parade." If you want restaurants and river cruises, you're in luck! They are literally within steps, which is exactly how long you have before you're gently nudged by someone taking a photo of the Glico Man. But here is the real magic trick: the moment you step back inside the Ryokan, the world's volume drops to zero. It’s an oasis of calm that makes you feel like you've unlocked a secret, peaceful dimension. Our traditional Tatami room, complete with a beautiful view of the river (and the happy, distant chaos below), was the perfect place to decompress. The Japanese bath is a great way to soak away the existential dread of navigating 1,000 selfie sticks, and the Japanese breakfast is the perfect fuel for tackling the Dotonbori urban jungle again. A huge shout-out to the super friendly and helpful staff—they are the Zen masters who keep this delightful ship afloat. Come here for tradition, comfort, and a dramatic contrast between indoors and outdoors.

This was a ryokan with a beautiful view overlooking the river. It was great drinking tea and people watching. The onsen was nice as well as the hospitality. The staff gave us tips on our further travels and local attractions. Though not overly loud, you may hear some outside noise. If you’re a light sleeper maybe look further outside of the area.

Amazing location, also has access to an onsen which is great after a day of travelling and walking around. I’ll definitely stay here again. Room is clean and in a traditional style.

Kaneyoshi Ryokan was the ideal base for exploring Osaka. The location is unbeatable—right in the center, with a stunning view of the river in a “quieter” part of Dotonbori. It almost felt too good to be true! One of my favorite things about this ryokan was its retro, Showa-era charm. If you love that aesthetic, you’ll adore this place. Everything was clean, and we slept wonderfully on the futons in an incredibly spacious room—especially by Japanese standards. The baths were another highlight. Around 5 PM, it was completely empty, making it the perfect place to relax after a long day of walking. Lastly, the staff was fantastic—always helpful and ready to answer any questions. The man at the front desk even gave us great tips for both Osaka and Kobe! If you’re looking for a well-located, nostalgic, and comfortable stay in Osaka, this ryokan is a great choice.

The Hotel is beautiful with a view over the canal. It's japanese style interior with tatami mats is cozy. You can acces the market street and its a really beautiful neighbourhood with lot's of people and culture. The breakfast is diliceouse and traditionel japanese style, with rice, tea, fish and alot more.

Located right on Dotonburi, you have access to all sorts of food, shopping, and a station. Room was enough to fit 4 lads with luggage and had a nice place to lounge while looking at the street and river. Hosts were very good at check-in and gave good advice on places we were traveling to and was able to communicate in different languages. Common bath upstairs was great to use winding down a long day of walking and prepared us for our visit to another set of hot springs.

Small ryokan right at the center of Osaka. Spacious authentic room, fantastic view from the balcony. Breakfast is also great, highly recommend

Great location on a tourist street, so it could be a little noisy during the evenings outside. Service is exceptional, and everything you need is in the room. The staff is very friendly! Be aware the front desk works until 1 AM. There are a lot of great places, such as bars and shops close to the hotel. You can get to most tourist places in Osaka such as the oceanarium and Osaka Castle in around 40 minutes by subway. There are western and Japanese style rooms and private baths you can use. Overall, a great place to stay during your trip to Osaka.
