Affordable and incredibly pleasant stay! The shared (female-only) room and bathroom were clean (loved that they clean the bathroom frequently), making my stay very comfortable. The thick bedding was super cozy—I slept so well! They also offer free luggage storage, which is very convenient for travelers. The staff and caretaker were very accommodating. Absolutely loved my stay and highly reco this place!! Will def stay again :)

Kangaroo Inn is one of the nicer hostels I’ve stayed in over the years. The location was amazing - walking distance to everything you would need around town. The hostel itself was clean and the rooms were spacious. The bathrooms were always clean, which is always a relief when traveling. There is a giant basement with plenty of couches, a giant tv screen, pool, and a kitchen if you feel like cooking. It was a very chill atmosphere and everyone was friendly. Would definitely stay there again!

I like this place it is affordable but the place is really good for its price. Its definely better than the last hostel I stayed before. There's a lot things to do like reading room and common area where you can read newspaper, play board games and socialise.

Recommended hostel in Perth 1. Located in the city center, with the train station and Woolies right next door. 2. Has an elevator, very friendly for travelers with big luggage. 3. Rooms have air conditioning all day long — which is very nice for a hostel in Australia, especially during the winter. 4. The bathroom facilities are okay: there’s shower gel, hair dryers, they’re clean, and there’s plenty of hot water. However, the light timer is too short and turns off quickly. 5. The kitchen isn’t very clean — people leave dirty dishes around and the sink often pools water. But someone comes to clean every so often, so it’s acceptable. The pots and pans are fairly new with few scratches. 6. The front desk staff are great and very helpful. They notice your needs and help immediately, like unlocking doors, etc.

Whether you're staying for a few nights or a few months, Kangaroo Inn is a great choice. Clean, quiet, and right in the heart of Perth – close to everything. The staff are helpful, the kitchen is fully equipped, and the vibe is relaxed (not a party hostel, which is a big plus). Perfect for backpackers who want comfort, stability, and a bit of peace – short or long term. I'd definitely stay again!

I booked for a week and everything was great. My roommates were awesome — very friendly and supportive, especially during my first days. I'm really grateful for their help! As a student, I realized I needed more space and decided to move to another place where I could have my own desk in the room.

This is such a great hostel to stay at, I’m a long term resident here. It has a big kitchen with space and a good communal area and the staff are always helpful which goes a long way in my eyes. It shouldn’t be a hard choice to pick this place with the location also easy to sort everything out especially if you’re new to Perth and need to get a new SIM card and transport card etc.

Hotel is in the downtown of Perth. There are many stores nearby. The room was fit for me while I stay there. The service was excellent. The staff members were all nice and helpful. Great place.

Yelp
The location is fantastic and that is what you were paying for. It's all there is. Other places nearby looked better from the outside. There is no night time attendant which is...worrisome. It's mostly a place that caters to second and third world people, so sanitation and cleanliness is tough to enforce. It's a bit run down. Bathrooms are rusted and scummy. There are signs saying, you cannot take food and drink to your room, but for the price they charge they can go pound sand on that one. The kitchen is pretty much a mess. Homeless people sleeping in the basement, or maybe that's just people who didn't want to pay. Overall, the Kangaroo Inn is a dump. But the wifi is great, the employees as nice as they could be, good water pressure, and reasonably comfy private rooms. That's about it. You'll find better value elsewhere.
