The location is fantastic and that is what you were paying for. It's all there is. Other places nearby looked better from the outside. There is no night time attendant which is...worrisome. It's mostly a place that caters to second and third world people, so sanitation and cleanliness is tough to enforce. It's a bit run down. Bathrooms are rusted and scummy. The doors have a hard time closing, people yelling and banging on doors in the middle of the night. NO night attendant was just.. wild. There are signs saying, you cannot take food and drink to your room, but for the price they charge they can go pound sand on that one. The kitchen is pretty much a mess. Homeless people sleeping in the basement, or maybe that's just people who didn't want to pay. Overall, the Kangaroo Inn is a dump. I did not feel safe, but... the wifi is great, the employees were as nice as they could be, good water pressure, and reasonably comfy private rooms. That's about it. You'll find better value elsewhere.

I've never spent any time in a back packers accommodation before. But I had to come to Perth from Geraldton and needed somewhere to stay close to my appointment. My daughter and I arranged 2 single beds in a single room. The beds were very comfortable. I was disappointed with the thin very used blanket. Even tho it was clean. All the linen was clean. But I bought 2 blankets, my pillow and my own towel. The showers/ toilets were very clean. I was reminded of the showers in a caravan park with the size of the shower. But it was clean. The water was hot. And with a good spray. We were on the first floor with amenities on our floor. I spoke to my hubby on my fone in a small room on our floor. It was equipped with a large comfy chair and footstool. A computer on a table. A wall mounted TV and 2 comfy lounges. And lots of interesting books. The room was musty. But I got used to it. It was nice. I really enjoyed my experience. I've told my other daughter about Kangaroo Inn. I would defs recommend this lovely little treasure in the middle of the city. We were a stones throw from Hay St and Murry st mall. There were plenty of close eating houses. A lovely Jaffle Shack next door with amazing coffee. A great experience. 😊 thanks.

I booked here for three nights, and I was happy with the room and the location, but unfortunately they made me checked out after my second night because they needed the room for someone else, something that wasn't mention during the booking or the check in. So I had to pack and get out early form my room and I needed to wait until my next room was done. I was very unhappy about it and when I talked to the person in reception he said that this was a hostel not an hotel so they had the right to do this which I found was very rude, he then mention that if wanted I could leave and get refund, so the next morning when I was leaving since they already made leave my room, another receptionist was there and she said that there was no option to get refund and that she will address this to the manager who will contact me later which never happened. I left anyways feeling very discontented about my stay (I have stayed in a lot of hostels in my life)

Overall very good, the people staying there were not very inclusive and the snooker table is ruined. Over than that enjoyed my stay thoroughly

Great for budget traveler if you don't mind sharing space. Seems to cater to transient workers and is quiet.

The location is very good, it is clean and the people who work at the reception are very friendly, especially Fernando. I have been to other hostels and this is the best.

Thoroughly enjoyed my stay here. Rooms were comfortable and clean, the wifi worked great throughout the hostel. Everyone was respectful and friendly, it wasn’t too loud. The bathroom facilities were clean and the staff very friendly. The kitchen is good but was quite full for fridge and dry goods storage. The common area where the kitchen is, is very comfortable and always something good to watch on tv, also has table tennis and a pool table and a variety of board games and books. A lot of fun to be had with fellow hostel guests that quickly become friends. 🙂

The hostel is located right in the center of Perth, very close to all the services and conveniences that a person needs upon arrival in the city, such as supermarkets and the train station. The rooms are clean and cozy. The staff is courteous and always ready to assist, ensuring a stress-free experience. For those seeking comfort, cleanliness, and a central location, this hostel is the perfect choice.
