We stayed for 4 nights at the Kangaroo Island Seaside Inn during April 2025 in the Oceanview Queen and 1 Single Room. Our room also happened to be an accessible room so was located on the ground floor of the motel next to the main building with reception. ||The room itself was a basic motel room that was quite dated but had everything you needed including tea and coffee making facilities and a bar fridge. The room was clean and spacious. The bed was comfortable, the sheets were clean and you could tell they were a bit older so had that comfortable well-worn, cozy feeling. The bathroom was original (not yet renovated) and being an accessible room, the shower was understandably quite low, which meant I needed to bend down a bit as a taller person. ||There was ample car parking on site out the back of the hotel including some charging points for EVs. The wifi throughout the hotel was strong. We only had contact with the staff once, at check in, but the man we were served by was very friendly and polite. Location wise, the motel was on the road along the water into town but there was hardly any traffic and it was set back enough that even when there were cars it wasn’t an issue. Opposite the motel is a walking track along the waterfront that leads into Kingscote in about 10-15 minutes walking, or down to Brownlow Beach in the other direction. ||We used this motel in Kingscote as a base for exploring Kangaroo Island and you couldn’t beat the location for this purpose. The only reason I gave it 4 stars was it could do with a few very minor improvements like slightly newer towels and sheets. Of course, the bathrooms in particular could do with an upgrade but for the price this is a fantastic option if you’re looking for somewhere to base yourself while exploring the island.

For a 3-star motel definitely worth the 5 star. Check in was simple, staff friendly, rooms are older style but very clean and well kept. Excellent split system air con heater. Amazing beach side views. Clearly a well loved family business.

Inconsiderate uncaring staff! Wasn't the worst place or expensive to stay while I was stranded on the island due to the ferries not running. But... the place is outdated and run down and the service was deplorable. Room wasn't serviced during my stay, fridge had 3 in date milks the rest out of date. What made it the worst service I've ever dealt with was on the 3rd day of being stuck on the island I asked whether I could check out at 12:30 when the next update for the ferry was due instead of sitting around in my car because the weather was horrible. Was told by the inconsiderate indian owner I would have to pay for half a day. No care for the situation I was in what so ever and I was the only one staying there in a 20 room hotel. Too bad for them the ferries got cancelled again and they lost their only customer. A much more understanding and caring hotel held a room for me without pay and I stayed there for the night. Edit to response - A reduced amount? Half a night charge for 2.5hrs and remaining fair to others, I was the only one there. As for the room service there was a sign in the room stating the room would be serviced daily at such and such a time and no sign to put on the door like you state. Also that is a complete lie the milk was out of date and I put it in the bin. As for staying longer in the room I left at 10:05 as your staff even drove past checking. That hardly constitutes your statement. You know kindness and respect goes a long way and I wasn't shown any when I called. All I got was a no I will have to charge you half a night if you want to remain there till 12:30. If I was shown a little kindness I would've quite happily stayed an extra night and my review would've been quite different.

Arrived to a vacant reception desk and waited 15 minutes for someone to arrive. The room had furniture that was soiled or just worn out (see photos ) and lacked basic amenities like plates and a microwave. The bare minimum as far as towels, shampoo and conditioner were provided. The reception area proudly displayed TripAdvisor Excellence awards from 2016-2019 so I'm guessing that this motel was once an excellent choice. Today this motel seemed run down and neglected and better options are probably available. The only positive was the excellent view of the ocean which is why I gave it 3 stars.

Definitely not a three star hotel, two at the maximum, but one star probably nearer to the truth. Absolutely no food service (despite the picture of a dining room setting in its advertising), not even biscuits in the room. Reception may or may not be staffed in the stated hours. Bathroom is Spartan, hasn’t been touched since it was built in the 1970s. Chairs have stains on them. To think this cost us as much as the Adelaide Intercontinental! Shows how overrated KI is. A day trip would suffice. Only saving graces are new big tv, new aircon, nice view.

We stayed here for 3 nights. The location is great, only the lapping of the waves on the beach are heard at night. The rooms are definitely 1970s however some have been renovated. I would definitely stay here again

Be aware - if the ferry is cancelled due to rough seas (which is often the case according to locals) you will still be charged a nights accomodation. Plus you'll have to find alternate accomodation on the mainland at short notice...

Working away from home. Not as good as when I last stayed here. They have removed microwaves from the rooms so I can no longer buy a microwave meal from the local shops, something I like to do when I work away due to anxiety around crowds. They had advertised a dining room on site but I was told they do not have one and I would need to get my dinner elsewhere. The smell in the room.... there is a funky smell that feels suspiciously like someone chucked on the carpet at some stage and they attempted (and failed), to conceal the smell. Not enjoying this stay
