Kangaroo Island

We enjoyed our stay. We did The Raptor Park & Seal Bay private tour which were both fabulous. We did many hikes which were really good (wildlife, flora, scenery) but signage on many is non existent or hard to find & very few give distances. Enjoyed wineries & distillery. Many restaurants closed (out of season). Nature likes to through up curved balls ... our ferry trip was delayed 2 days by bad weather so don't visit if you have really tight scedule or events on mainland.

It was nice, although I had expected to see wild Kangaroos freely roaming around but I saw none. I also saw a lot of Penguin nests but did not manage to see any Penguin that time. The view here was worth to see anyway.

If you want to see lots and lots of nothingness, come to Kangaroo Island! We booked a bus tour of the island which effectively had one proper stop where we could buy souvenirs or drop into the local pub. Otherwise, it was a bus tour that just drove us around the countryside. One of the highlights of the afternoon was a painted silo! We have been to this area a few times in the past and were looking forward to doing the tour of KI. An extremely underwhelming place. Here are some photos of lots and lots of nothing... ;-)

Definitely worth the trip. Ferry easy to navigate. I needed 3 days to do what I wanted, but wished I had a few more days to relax. Seriously friendly locals.

Stunning, spectacular, breathtaking beauty!! In any weather (expect extreme fire season), anytime, any season, any time of the year! Must visit and spend time at this iconic Australian location.

We brought our SUV to KI through Sealink Ferry. Arrived at Pennyshore midday and drove to Kingscote where we hired a beautiful House through Stayz on the corner of Brownlow Road and the Seaview drive. We have spent 3 days sight seeing leisurely, visiting key places and having a wonderful dinner for 3 nights at Aurora Ozone Hotel. We bought Woolen shawl at the Kangaroo Island Wool Shop. The rest has been admirable and remarkable travelling experience.

Don’t expect to see Kangaroos or penguins, or any animals if you arrive there in the day time. Which maybe is good for the benefit of wild life. Also if you know these animals are night, early morning and evening animals, you could better plan your trip to be there. The ocean and small beach are beautiful.
