I was in Panama for two weeks and I liked this place so much I visited each week. The first time there were only two of but the second time I brought a group of nine women.
First, let me say the view is incomparable. It’s very impressive, especially with the warm lighting after sunset.
Secondly, the drinks are delicious and creative. All 10 of us enjoyed our cocktails.
Thirdly, Monday night was very quiet and romantic. Sunday night with the ladies was lots of fun! The DJ is playing American 80s and house music at first. Then he switched it to Afrobeats then Latin music. It was a good mix of music that makes you want to move! Even though there’s no dance floor, a few of us got up to dance. It was a good time!
As you can guess, getting the orders of nine women was difficult. There were so many questions and changes (two pescatarians, two vegetarians and one vegan. I couldn’t have done it. But our waitress, Vanessa was patient and courteous. She didn’t speak English, but I was able to translateto my guest (and she also had one guy—maybe a manager—there to help translations). All the orders came out correctly. We were pleased.
Lastly, the food. It’s hit or miss. I loved the avocado with fish chorizo, salmon, empanadas and NY Strip. I disliked the mushroom ravioli and octopus black rice.
I will say this, most places with outstanding ambience have really bad food. Kanival has an amazing setting with good drinks, competent staff, and decent food. I highly recommend it.
