KANOM Cafe

Family run coffee shop with yummy food and fresh, delicious baked goods. The lox, tomato toast, salad and baked goods are all recommended. The matcha latte tea and coffees were all really good. It's a cute space and the staff were friendly.

First time coming into the unassuming cafe tucked away in the Ambassador Apartment building in a quiet neighborhood near Johns Hopkins University. Their pastries and made in house and are fantastic. The owners are warm and welcoming and would like to come back again and bring others with me. Only 4 stars overall as I give 5 to the very best.

Delicious croissants and cakes. Friendly staff. Milk alternatives available (oat, almond). Non caffeinated bevs available. Croissants came filled or unfilled. So many flavors. Pistachios, almond, double chocolate, vanilla, mutcha. I love all of them. Fillings could include mutcha, chocolate, almond and pistachios, with decorations on the surface and rich, intense and thick fillings inside. Good place to chat with friends. Roughly 16 seats inside and a few more outside.

KANOM is a wonderful cafe tucked away in the Tuscany-Canterbury neighborhood. The family that runs the shop is extremely nice, the atmosphere inside and outside is gorgeous, and the food is marvelous! I got the tuna sando and paired with a strawberry shortcake. Both sufficiently satisfied my hunger and the contrasting flavor profiles were great. I highly recommend coming here grabbing a pastry and coffee and working if you're able to find a seating place inside!

The cappuccino here is the best I've had far superior to the big name brands. The pastries are delicious, & you can see them being prepared inside looking through a glass window. Dog friendly my pup enjoyed the bowl of water offered outside in the patio area. Wonderful service definitely recommend.

Friendly service, nice shop with strong AC is a big relief in the summer. Had a decent amount of seating and the shop had a very clean, open atmosphere. Would be a good place to study although I didn’t check for outlets. Tried the tiramisu, Thai iced coffee, and lox toast. All were amazing! A little pricy but would definitely come again! The location is great as well.

Chill vibe, plenty seating and a nice patio ! I got the pumpkin brûlée and it was the one ! So moist, sweet and fluffy. Beautiful presentation and the packaging is great too ! Very nice service and welcoming On the counter they have more pastries for a low price. I couldn’t resist an apple croissant and it was as crispy as it was flaky ! Truly a great treat

Had a pastry party here! Got a matcha croissant, a chocolate chip cookie, and a Thai tea croissant. These pastries are flavor bombs, but a smidge more filling would've been the cherry on top. Now, that cookie? It's a wild love triangle between cookie, cake, and fudge. Mind-blowing! 💥🍪😍 And to top it off, the service was great and super friendly.

This is a family owned coffee shop specializes in croissants. We came here for light breakfast. I ordered almond croissant with house coffee. The croissant was flaky, light, and with almond filling. There was some coffee floaters and I wasn't sure if it supposed to be there. But it tasted okay. Nice place to hangout. You can sit either inside or outside.

I came here to study and try a new cafe, and I'm glad I did! I ordered a ham & cheese croissant, a cookie, and their Thai style iced coffee (Es Yen). The croissant was one of the best I've ever had, and since I love Vietnamese coffee, their coffee really hit the spot for me. I'll be back here again to try other baked goods!

Iced matcha and opera cake--Kanom, a cafe oasis (and pleasant customer service) along University Blvd!

I came here on a Monday morning after reading about this new bakery! It was a little hard to find as there wasn't a sign outside. We saw a red awning, looked into the window, and saw it was the bakery. The owners were really nice. I ordered 3 croissants (regular, almond, and double chocolate) and the brioche blueberry roll. I also got an opera cake and a lemon raspberry cake. We also got a cappuccino and a peach soda. They had a couple of groups in there already. All the baked goods were beautiful! My pastries were packaged nicely. We waited to try it when we got home. The croissants were really good. My husband loves a good plain croissant. I enjoyed the double chocolate. They were flakey and delicious. The cakes were fantastic. Super great flavor and delicious. The brioche blueberry was good, but i probably wouldn't get it again. They are a little pricey, but I guess with rising costs these days, it's hard to avoid.

This cafe/pastry shop/coffeeshop in the Ambassador building spans French to Thai and does everything well! I've stopped by three times now - sometimes for just a coffee, sometimes for coffee and a pastry. The service is the best (everyone is so sweet), and the coffee is always great. I don't have a huge sweet tooth (more of a savory girl), so some of the pastries are a little too sweet for me, but they are beautiful - and they always seem to have different pastries every time I stop in! It has some inside seating (seems to be popular with students who live nearby already since it has quiet, peaceful, could study here vibes), and a few tables outside as well. Really charming addition to the neighborhood! I'm sure I'll be back many more times!

Staff here is super friendly and kind. The space here is also very nice, clean and modern. The pastries here are very good. Love the banana bread here as well as their cheddar biscuit. When you bite into the biscuit, there's a very satisfying crunch that turns into a delicious softness. The Thai tea latte w/oat milk is also very very good. It's great on a cold winter day. We came here two days in a row to try some of their other food, but unfortunately they sell out a couple of hours after opening. Well, it gives us an excuse to come back!

I never knew this place existed! After finding out my other coffee shop was out of my favorite pastry, I decided to do a search and came here on a random Friday afternoon. Kanom is located near John Hopkins undergrad campus. I got the sense the cafe has seen better days. Upon first entry you think it's going to be quite posh but then you see a lot of handwritten signs, the signs the team is looking for a new pastry chef. I ordered a glass of tea hoping it would be fancy for $5 but it was just a tea bag. I got two danishes, one savory (sausage and egg) and the other apple. It was served on a paper plate, the staff did heat it up for me. The interior is quite large, there's a big table for those who want to study. There's also a cute bookshelf with a few Harry Potter books and Hermes Monde, which was dated but still fun to look through. I hope they staff up and stay open. Love a local coffee/pastry shop!

The cutest addition to the Canterbury area! Kanom is a Thai and French inspired bakery/cafe with the super unique pastry offerings. I ordered their brioche cinnamon roll, a sausage and egg croissant, and their iced matcha. The person at the counter was super kind and let me know that they offer more limited pastry flavors on the weekends (like that beautiful Thai one that I must get my hands on). The matcha tasted a lot like a bubble tea and less like a creamy earthy traditional matcha. Not bad but just unexpected. The place is very clean and neat, I'd advise to go early in the mornings to get the freshest of goodies. I came an hour before close and my goods weren't the fluffiest but still tasty.

Stopped in this morning while we visited John's Hopkins around the corner. Tried the almond and coconut croissants. Both were excellent. We sat outside on the front patio with our coffees which were also excellent. I really enjoyed the Thai style iced coffee. Service was very polite.

This owner was smart. She bought Wonton Ramen from Costco in bulk, 6 bowls probably for $14 I can't recall the exact price, about $2.5 each bowl, and charged you $12 for each. Even the bowls and the vegetables are also from Costco package. I didn't mind you making profit but this was way much markup. I also didn't like you charge a 15% or 20% service charge to everything and still expected for tip. Easy money because there was not much dinning options nearby.

We've tried a few to-go pastries and a salad from Kanom, and everything has been delicious! Haven't managed to get there early enough to try one of the fancy flavor croissants, but we have tried the chocolate one and it's great! Honestly thought I would find it too sweet, but it's a perfect pastry to share. The satay salad was great - the chicken is impossibly tender, the sauce is really delicious, and everything is really fresh. I wish they were around when I lived closer so they could be a consistent lunch option for me, but we'll definitely make a point of visiting often!

I got a hot matcha and it was very sweet and not at all like a traditional matcha. I'm not even sure they used real matcha-- it tasted like a sweet syrup or flavoring. I wish it had been specified on the menu what goes in it because it was pretty expensive ($6 plus a tip). The person working the counter though was very friendly, though.

thai iced coffee (3.5/5)- $6 -a bit on the sweeter side but you can really taste the chicory scent of the coffee almond croissant (4/5)- $8 -pretty solid but a bit on the pricier side at $8 -crunchy exterior with slight sweetness from almond filling overall: 4/5 ambience is good and makes for a good study spot! service was great and was very nice/ even offered to mix my iced coffee for me! it's a little bit on the pricier side but i'd still be interested in coming back to try their other baked goods as it seemed they didn't have some of their other baked goods i've sen in their reviews.

I had a really delicious croissant. I will be going back to try more items. The chocolate chip cookie looked really good. Very friendly service. Outdoor seating was nice as well.

Absolutely loved my inaugural trip to Kanom Cafe! The enticing aroma drew me in, while the mouthwatering array of treats in the display case left me eager to sample it all. An experience that indulges the senses and leaves you craving for more.

One of the best pastries in town! Recommended to all who love fresh baked croissants and pastries. If you looking for a cozy place to grab a cup of coffee, this definitely be the one too! looking forward to see many more menu on-the-go! Staffs are so nice too.

Best butter croissants I have sampled in the greater Baltimore area and as a frequent traveler to France, I can honestly state they compare very favorably.

It's a similarly priced alternative to Starbucks for those of us who prefer local places. Welcome addition to the neighborhood.

owner and workers were all super friendly. had the almond and salted caramel croissant and the turkey sausage and cheese croissant - both were very flaky and flavorful. did wish the croissants could have been warm though. a little on the pricier end. place was also very cute and quiet.
