"Kansas City Shuffle Cafe, Cbd by Grandma's Bar for 8 Hospitality. Located in the old Sydney Cadbury Chocolate factory, Kansas City shuffle is a welcome addition to The Rocks cafe scene. The cafe has a fresh, industrial looking interior with plans of expanding into a bar in the future and offers takeaway coffee and treats from the windows behind where the baristas works their magic."

Quaint little place that's also home to Tuxedo Bar. Having a driveway right through the middle of the restaurant is a new experience for me =p Their Cuban was my favourite by far. It is such a perfect balance of delicious. Ham, pork belly mustard mmmm so good we shared 2! Chicken burger was good. The batter was an interesting combination of spices that was so familiar and yet I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Brisket for the waffles was very well done and the waffle was (for me) thankfully not too sweet. The spice was a pleasant little kicker too

It's one of those cafes that look hip. It's industrial and very dark inside. It looks like it's in a reno site. The service was friendly but the service was so slow. We waited about 44 mins. The food was a disappointment. My Stormin Norman has a nicely cooked egg but the toast was so hard and slightly burnt. The avocado tasted funky. The other orders weren't that good either. The pork in the Cuban sandwich was tough and dry. The saving grace was the coffee. It was good. Sadly not enough to make up for the sub par brunch experience. Definitely too pricey for what you get.

Absolutely stunning. The staff are super friendly, the coffee is perfect, and the atmosphere is bang on. It feels busy without you being rushed, not overly loud so you can enjoy a conversation, and the food is phenomenal. Highly recommend the beef brisket waffles and the lychee soda. One of Sydney's best little gems.

Serving you a side of gluttony for breakfast but well worth the calories. Perhaps this place is better suited for lunch, but I'm not gonna say no to that beef brisket and waffles with chilli butter. Attentive staff. Always good to see staff smiling and laughing with each other. Really brings the place together.

Google
Had a filter coffee which tasted great as well as the brisket and waffle which was just average, but good. Service was good, although the coordination could be better as I only got my coffee after I was finished with my meal. Prices are quite high, however, especially in comparison to the amount of food you get.

Tucked off an alley near Circular Quay, in Sydney's CBD, is this cute cafe that moonlights as a trendy bar/club after sunset. We walked passed it before realising that a random opening in the brick facade was exactly where we needed to go. Walking in, we were greeted by friendly staff and seated in a dimly lit room with exposed brick, large exposed vents. It was a little bit warm on the inside, and we weren't sure if the vents were operating, or their was any aircon - the warehouse style cafe definitely absorbs a bit of heat. Menu: 9/10 I love the creative flavours, and the concise nature. KCS aims to make a small number of menu items, amazing. Food: 8/10 To me the John Mclane needed something more, but I still really enjoyed the food overall. Service: 10/10 Great service all round! Ambiance: 7/10 The space is a bit confusing since you can see the curtains and bits and bobs used for the club at night - it breaks the space up a little. Value for money: 7/10 The pancake was sure fire worth it, but I think a little more on our other plate would have been amazing. Overall: 8/10

We decided to grab a quick breakfast here before heading over to Taronga zoo for a day of fun. This beautiful little diner has options for everyone with hearty choices like the delicious waffle with brisket which blew my mind. The candied PB and J sandwich was the highlight of the meal and I can't wait to go back and grab some dinner.

Went on a weekday brunch timing, no queue. Ordered the Stormin Norman and Trio of Mushrooms. The food was really good but flavour was rather light. The Chai Latte was pretty light as well, thought it would be better with a stronger chai flavour. Service was however, excellent. The vibes of the cafe was great. Would give 3.5 stars.

Yelp
Closed down permanently :( Trekked all the way here and it wasn't open! Yelp shouldn't say it is still operating

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. All made from scratch, so this is not your fast in, fast out place. It'll take time. But it's totally worth it!!! We split the Stormin Norman and the Pancake. Both delicious!!

Yelp
As a Kansas City native, I was very excited to find this place in Sydney. This was our last meal before heading off to the airport to continue our Australia vacation. We were seated right away and ordered coffee and tea. We shared the Stormin Norman and the Trio of Mushrooms. The avo toast was our favorite, but both were good. It was nice to see a little taste of where I grew up on the other side of the world.

Yelp
The restaurant has a very rustic, hipster atmosphere. It reminds me a lot of Austin, Texas. The beef brisket waffle that I ordered was smaller than I expected, but delicious all the same. If I feel like splurging again, I'll definitely come back again.

Yelp
Great brunch spot! The food was very delicious and the restaurant is pretty coo! Will definitely come back!

Yelp
What a cute coffee shop with good food for our first spot in Sydney! We had the avocado toast and the waffles with brisket, so so good and the servers were very helpful in recommending other spots to try after!

Yelp
This place is cool. Almost too cool for its own good. From the grungey dis-affected staff to the cold drip coffee it screams Brooklyn style. It was hard to find our way in initially. Word to the wise - walk into the space and the entrance is at the back to your left. Staff welcomed us at lunchtime on a Saturday in the most casual of ways and seated us promptly. Drinks orders were taken (no smoothie or fresh juice options - shame) and we were left to peruse the menu. We were after breakfast for lunch and chose this spot specifically for their all-day-brekkie. But alas, here we have another menu that forgets about dietary requirements. No vegetarian, vegan or gf options identified. SIGH. I ordered poached eggs with gluten free toast with butter for the toast. I don't know why but I always have to ask for the butter. Is it not fashionable to butter your toast anymore? I wasn't in the mood to run through the entire menu and do the 'let me ask the chef' conversation to figure out what I could eat so simplicity was the order of the day. My friends cold drip coffee arrived and I had a straight up bottle of OJ. My friends meal (the beef brisket) turned up after around 20 minutes. Mine showed up around 10 minutes later. The brisket looked impressive - succulent and tender and the waffle underneath coated in chili oil. My friends only complaint was that the waffle was soggy underneath. Other than that the report was good! My eggs were poached a little too long and had more hard yolk than I would have liked. They were runny overall though, and the gf toast was beautiful and dense and flavoursome. Prices were good and service was good. The staff didn't blink an eyelid when we stayed chatting after our meals. I'd recommend this place but would prefer to see more fresh drink options.

Yelp
Absolutely fantastic, albeit initially hard to find. I had the smashed avo, and it did not disappoint. I also had the "magic" coffee, while I appreciated the enthusiam and spark that would encourage a coffee to have such a name, I found it to just be a latte- however it was a very good latte. The avocado was zingy, the toast well done, could not be faulted except it might have done with more seasoning, however as the waiter provided us with salt and pepper, it was great. I also had a taste of the chilli brisket, the flavours were just superb and the brisket was cooked to perfection BUT I wish there was more of it, or that it was cut a bit thicker. The ambience of the place was just what youd hope for in a sydney cafe, the prices were reasonable, again going to eat in the city you sort of know what youre in for. Would recommend if youre ever walking by.

Yelp
Try the Magic Barista Coffee Fortune Telling. No, I can't tell you what it involves, you'll have to try it out for yourself. IF YOU DARE. So I want to eat the waffles because the photos look cray but I'd already had brekkie wekky when I came here so I had to settle for a tea and some fun banter with the barista, what a legend Mr. I Never Caught Your Name. But your positivity was a real boon, let me tell you that. The outside chairs are cracking but I also kinda wanna check out what I imagine is a pretty industrial-chic interior. Which will happen when I get those waffles.

Yelp
My friend and I came here after a 15 hour flight and it was a great choice. The brisket and waffle is highly recommended. The coffee is to die for and the staff was so friendly and nice. They made us a list of places to go throughout our trip. We will be going back tomorrow for sure.

Yelp
Already Impressed. Stumbled upon these guys and they were already packing up, but thought to try my luck to score a coffee and sadly the machine was closed at 4. But! They didn't leave me hanging and offered me a cold drip. BAM! Served on ice, this bad boy totally hit the spot on this 30degree afternoon! Will be a winner this summer! Do it!

Yelp
This was an excellent breakfast find - despite the limited breakfast menu. It has a very obscure street front entrance that can easily be missed. Look for two, white street front serving of windows next to what looks like a loading dock - the name of the place is in "fine print" on the window frame below. Once inside, it is very large, with a pub like atmosphere - tables, large tables, booths, couches, a bar and a pool table area. I had their banana bread - which was among the best I have ever had. Their coffee was also excellent. My wife really enjoyed her poached eggs on toast. Prices were also very reasonable. So, other then the somewhat limited breakfast offerings, I can definitely recommend this place.

Yelp
Great espresso and batch coffee. I had a brisket waffle, also delicious. Best part was chatting with the owner, very cool and accommodating guy!

Yelp
Slightly hidden place, but this was one of the best meals I've had in Australia so far. The brisket waffle with chili butter and the pancake we're both AMAZING!
google avatar

Darshak P.

Yelp
A cool little hidden spot! It was difficult to notice but worth the visit. Their coffee is fresh and sweets looked good. I opted to go for the John Mclane - toast mixed with poached egg, kale, mushrooms. Really tasty. Downside: a little bit pricey for the quantity of food.

Yelp
Amazing! The toast with "avo" is epic, but the amazing pancakes... Good Lord!!! Amazing... 1.5 inches thick and delicious!!! Don't pass it up!

Liz M.

Yelp
AMAZING! Had the Avocado Pumpkin Toast and it was so delicious. We also ordered the waffle brisket and it did not disappoint. Server was so nice and informative. Best food in Sydney. We will be coming back before we leave.

Yelp
This place was delicious. I had the brisket and waffles and it was the best thing I had my whole trip to Australia.

Yelp
It's my second time to visit Sydney and I was hoping to get a nice breakfast. By searching the local review, my family and I stop by for breakfast and the breakfast is good with a small portion. It was a bit turn off since there is a parking lot driveway right next to the restaurant which divide two parts of the restaurant.

Yelp
Wow !!!! ..... Loved the place .... The coffee was Awesome .... The food was Awesome ... the service (with two people away) was still fine by any standard. Its got space, atmosphere, and a good amount of funky vibe to make you want to come back .... and I know I will .... you just know when everything works ..... and it did ..... I now want to come back one evening and see what it's like at night ....... I shall return !!

Yelp
Stopped by here to grab a takeaway. There is seating inside and the food smelled quite delicious, but I only had eyes for coffee. Which was top notch. My strong flat white was the perfect temperature and tasted great. Super excited that there's great coffee in that area.

Yelp
The love of Bruce Lee runs deep in our family - we are talking intergenerational obsession. So our visit to KCS was off to a good start when we saw we were deep in the heart of Bruce Lee fandom. Even better once we tasted the food, which was super good. My beef brisket waffle was a perfect fusion of flavours with the smoked chilli adding just the right edge and the shared chia pudding was a delicious healthy brekky option. The pumpkin bread and avo also got rave reports. Great music and fun layout would also make this a perfect after work destination. Definitely recommended.

David K.

Yelp
Great little hole-in-wall. They do a lot of takeaway. Only a few tables inside. Small menu. Great coffee and great food at a reasonable price. Food is made to order, so don't be in a hurry. I ordered the pancake. It was excellent- a welcome change from hotel food. Staff was exceptionally friendly.

Yelp
Great tex/Cali and classic American diner fare. Amazing pulled meats and huge high quality burgers and fries. Friendly service if a little spotty at times. Now my favourite lunch spot north of the cbd

Yelp
This breakfast spot did not live up to the near perfect yelp rating it had when we tried it out. While the food was good, it was nothing amazing compared to other breakfast cafes in Sydney and was in fact on the pricey side. I enjoyed my seed-quinoa toast with avo, goat cheese and tomatoes but $17 seemed very steep, especially with one poached egg on top. Good dining experience, service and ambiance, just nothing to go out of your way for in my eyes.

Cesar R.

Yelp
Worth the walk to grab tasty food and good coffee. Loved the maple bacon and the brisket.
google avatar

Yelp
Good food good coffee - French server was absolutely horrible. Forgot the milk for my coffee, forgot the avocado for my salad, forgot the poached egg for my salad. Told me he salad had come with a poached egg - aka called me a liar. When I insisted it didn't, he called me rude twice. Never asked me how my meal was or if I needed anything. Each time I had to yell out and waVe my arms as he literally jogged by with roughly 14 ppl in the resto and him being 1 of 2 servers. Ruined my entire experience. You gotta get rid of that guy

Yelp
Stumbled across Kansas City Shuffle while out for a walk one morning and searching Yelp for a new spot to grab a late breakfast. Being a KC native, I had to come check it out, and I'm so glad I did. The staff was outstanding, coffee was great, service prompt, and the food was amazing. I had the Brisket and waffle. Probably one of the best breakfast meals I've had. You can't go wrong here! I will definitely be back.

Yelp
Stopped for coffee at this out of the way shop in the Rocks. Great building with some character. Coffee was perfect. Will come back for the food. Friendly service.

Paul W.

Yelp
Was really good... they changed the layout and closed off half the seating. Pretty average now.

david h.

Yelp
The breakfast menu looked very good and when the food came it looked great as well. My wife ordered the pancake which was super tasty and had great flavor. I ordered the poached egg and toast with pea and potato hash with a side of avacado, unfortunately, it did not come out as tasty. My poached egg was over cooked and the hash was way too salty. Expected more here.

Ron C.

Yelp
Came here based on the reviews and this place didnt disappoint. Ordered the Pancake (singular) and it was one of the best pancakes Ive ever had. The moist and fluffy pancake was topped well with whatever golden delicious syrup that was. And just in case it was sweet overload, lemon cream cheese parfait topping was nearby to balance it out. My only gripes was that service was a tad slow and there was no option for plain refillable coffee, but thats probably because Im too American.

Eater X.

Yelp
Chaos. Delicious, delicious chaos. Prepare to fend for yourself - flagging hard to identify servers to get a table, place your order, chase down your order, grab your bill, and, of course, pay your bill. The good news, no, the - fantastic - news is that all of your effort is worth it. Kansas City Shuffle has taken the title of my favourite Cuban sandwich - something I crave at least once per month. The KCS chicken burger seems monstrous, but without a side it makes a great lunch (but I'd like it with a bit more spice). Did I mention Kansas City Shuffle is licensed? They also do a good coffee, which has them ticking all the boxes on my list.

Yelp
Good food, pleasant service, reasonable price. Menu is a little amusing - they have dishes that are designated Gluten Free, Vegetarian, and Gangsta. The dine-in decor is a little off beat, a little industrial, it may appeal to some more than others. May want to consider this as a take away meal.

Brendan H.

Yelp
From the service to the level of the food, I enjoyed my time here! I highly recommend the avocado toast! The service was very attentive and the smaller atmosphere served as a very efficient use of space!

Gio F.

Yelp
Awesome breakfast, Great coffee, Great atmosphere, Outstanding staff...! The food was amazing, the pancakes were unlike any I've ever had, perfectly fluffy and flavorful. The coffee robust and aromatic. The appearance from the outside was misleading in the sense that when we walked in we were totally taken back by how retro and hip it was on the inside. It was a very cool place and a definite recommend.

Robert G.

Yelp
Excellent coffee, excellent food. Poached eggs were expertly done. It's very easy to walk right by and miss it, it does not look like a normal restaurant. Across the street from the church. It's worth it, I'll be back.

Susan S.

Yelp
Great chicken sandwich, and great other foods too. Cool vibe. You won't be disappointed with the menu, and some good vegetarian choices as well.

Toby L.

Yelp
Had the pancake and it was actually the best I've ever had. The interior is quite unique. Industrial. But very different for a city cafe. Staff are cheerful and a great start for the morning.

Shellie H.

Yelp
Service was quick and friendly. Meal was very nice, great blend of flavor and texture. Presentation was beautiful and serving size was just right. Highly recommend this place!
