Kantipur Temple House

Located on the quiet side of Thamel, Kantipur Temple house is a beautiful hotel with the kindest staff. The building is set back in its own garden - a lovely shady spot for a drink - and is in the Newari style, intricate carved teak beams and red brickwork. A calm and spacious building which stays naturally cool in the heat. |The food was delicious and there was a wide range of Nepali, Thai, Chinese and Continental choices. The breakfast was worth spending time to enjoy all that was on offer! |Another great thing was the environmental thinking behind the hotel. Plastics are a big problem in Nepal (there is no recycling) and so to stay somewhere that avoids plastic by giving you filtered water and lining bins with paper felt good. There is no air conditioning but fans if needed, and the design of the building with courtyard etc does keep it cool. |The rooms are spacious and the showers hot. Beautiful art on the walls and all around. The staff are so welcoming and helpful. Walking distance for Garden of Dreams, all of the eateries and shops of Thamel: we even walked to the monkey temple but that did take 35mins. And there’s yoga classes on the rooftop every morning! Highly recommend staying here.

in Thamel but quiet location, which was great for us. Beautiful House and architecture, very friendly staff. Bathrooms are pretty basic (but clean) for the price, rooms are also quite basic but clean. No Bar or any other ammenities apart from breakfast and yoga class at 8am.

A quiet & serene Oasis in busy Kathmandu. You can have amazing breakfast in the Garden, there is rooftop yoga in the morning. The staff is incredibly friendly. When I felt rushed, Kantipur Temple House made me feel calm and at home. I can only recommend & i hope that I will be back.

Lovely hotel in Kathmandu, peaceful area but close to the bustle of the city. Staff could not have been more helpful! The early morning walking tour was excellent! Our guide from the hotel was very knowledgeable and took us to places we would not have found ourselves. We will be back!

Kantipur Temple House is my choice of accommodation each time I visit Kathmandu. There’s always a relaxing welcome when arriving after the hustle and bustle of the journey from the airport. An oasis amid the chaos, full of nostalgia and ancient charm. The rooftop yoga is an added bonus, highly recommended.

This place was a perfect 4 night home base for the start of our trip, before heading off on a Trek. With yoga, local walking tour, laundry service, restaurant, and friendly staff we were well taking care of and in great spirits for the rest of our journey. I would definitely choose to come here again if I make it to Kathmandu again one day.
