"Set within the 24-acre oasis of Montage Kapalua Bay, this pop-up bar and lounge pairs Veuve Clicquot Champagne with Maui’s world-class sunsets. Open Thursday through Sunday from 3:30 p.m. to 7 p.m., the Champagne Hale (pronounced HAH-leh, which is the Hawaiian word for house ) serves a range of bubbly, from Veuve’s signature Yellow Label, Rosé, and La Grande Dame labels to special Rich and Rich Rosé offerings, available for the first time on the island. Pair your sips with light bites like Kualoa Ranch oysters, bigeye tuna tartare, and burrata toast with pickled strawberries and pistachio pesto, then take in the views as the sun goes down over the Pacific. From the bar’s clifftop perch above Namalu Bay, you’ll enjoy stunning vistas of the ocean as well as Molokai and Lanai islands in the distance."

Such a beautiful spot! It’s an awesome place for snorkeling, the water is usually super glassy and clear. There are several rock jumping points where you can do some tricks. Just a short walk away is Cliff House Beach, which can get a bit crowded with tourists, but it’s still a lovely spot that feels like a natural swimming pool. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area!

Thanks to the Montage Kapalua and Yelp, my friend and I got to experience the infamous Cliff House! ATMOSPHERE: Perched on a low, rocky cliff off the Montage Kapalua's property, the intimate glass-walled "house" overlooks the Pacific with the island of Molokai as its backdrop. Inside is a small bar, communal table and low tops, with high tops lining the outdoor balcony. Restrooms are located on the first level of the House. THE CLIFF HOUSE: Originally built in 1940 for the managers of the now defunct Honolua Plantation, it was recently renovated and is now operated by the Montage Kapalua, though used only for private events. VEUVE CLICQUOT EVENT: In December 2017, a few of us Elite Yelpers were invited to an event that was actually open to the general public. The House was gussied up in French company Veuve Clicquot's signature orange-yellow colors via logo banners and table umbrellas. The pricey menu featured Champagne & cocktails by the glass (starting at $23) or by the bottle (starting at $138). Small bites available were oysters, tuna tartar, pavlova, crudo and burrata, starting at $22. We were served specifically the Rich Cocktail drink in which I chose the pear flavor that was very refreshing, followed by a glass of their Yellow Label. We sampled all of the small bites except for the oysters, and all were absolutely delicious! We ended with a meringue dessert that wasn't on the menu. SERVICE: The outstanding service started even before we got to the Cliff House as we were greeted by Katherine (I believe was her name) at the valet area as we exited our car. She walked us to the lobby and explained how to get down to the event and even popped in during the event to make sure everything was going okay. The servers at the Cliff House were friendly, professional and attentive. I'm sure that tending to a table of Yelpers might seem challenging but we're all cool peeps! OVERALL: The perfect place for an exclusive event of 40 guests or less.

We attended Champagne Hale to celebrate my love’s birthday. This was definitely the highlight of our trip. This is a hidden gem with amazing views, history, and the food was delicious. The hospitality of the hosts really made our trip special. We were lucky to be one of two guest which made the experience more intimate and personable. I cannot rave enough about this place. Hands down a must go while in Maui. Mahalo 🌺

The rocks just north of house are a favorite of my kids to jump off of. It is very deep and safe for jumps. You can work your way up from small jumps to some really big ones close to 40 feet. There is a ladder on one side and a rope on the other to help you get out of the water. I'd recommend water shoes to help you when climbing around on the rocks. It's fun to watch the locals do breathtaking flips off these rocks. A great spot for fun in the sun.

Awesome place for a small hike in. Pass by a couple of bays, beautiful long beach, and the water is excellent for snorkelling. You also get to see a special nesting ground. Be respectful, it’s a beautiful area. Once at cliff house, you can snorkel some more, swim, cliff/rock jump. It was a lot of fun. So glad we ended our vacation with this little gem amongst others.

Yelp
Came on a windy day and everything was a flight. My napkin encased cutlery went diving over the cliff and my champagne flute was in close pursuit. I managed to catch it but spilled some. Champagne was refilled immediately before I could even fully realize what had happened. Service is impeccable. Shall we talk about the entertainment? The whale show began promptly with a baby and momma whale showcasing full breaches every 5-10 seconds for about a dozen times or so - epic. Husband said, "it's because they're thrilled they don't have to pay the high prices at the cliff house!" Our short but very memorable visit ended with a sunset and a stiff bill. Very much worth it.

Yelp
one of the best places in Maui to cliff jump and hangout. You can park up the hill and walk down the asphalt pavement to the path. Walk down the path a few yards till you get to the dead end (cliff). You can go to the left to go cliff jumping. ( just make sure the tide isn't to low and to jump where there isn't rocks) if you take the path down to the right (be careful) you get to rocks and tide pools where you can sun bath and lay out with waves rolling in the whole time. Make sure you leave the place better then you find it and do not disturb the location or land.

Yelp
After an invigorating walk on the Coastal Trail, we discovered that the Hale Veuve Cliquot pop-up bar was open. Quel régal! We had chosen a few coupes de champagne, but Randy our server reminded us that the sun would warm the champagne quickly. He suggested two "Rich cocktails" with pineapple and berries. My first thought was, "How can you do that to Veuve Clicquot?" It is a nearly perfect and pricey champagne that doesn't need any ice or mixture, but we tried them and were not disappointed. Refreshing and not too sweet. Still, these cocktails would be good with California sparking à la Roederer. The VIEW! Impressive over the water location next to a popular cliff jumping area. Solid and personable service even though we were back from a sunny hike and not too fancy. A taste of the finer side of life!

Yelp
This review is for the Champagne Hale at the Montage at Kapalua Bay. You may also find this familiar with close to "cliff house" for the locals ;) I had the honor to attend an end of the 2017 year event with our new Maui Community Ambassador Maria P. What a way to say Aloha! The drive was a bit of traffic for my girlfriend and I from Kihei, but that's to be expected. It's totally worth it to venture to the Westside. Valet park at Montage and mention you're headed to the Vueve Clicot Champagne Hale and they will give you directions to the trail. From the ocean, you'll see a delightful trail of that famous Goldenrod, set amongst lanterns, and an adorable beach cruiser and accessories set against the most Luxe Hale I've ever seen. Cozy seating is located under umbrellas on the lanai. You can also take a seat at the family style counter height, family style tables. Be prepared for the view - it's breathtaking! From the ocean as far as you can see, to the cove known as Cliff House - for the adventurous divers, you'll be in for a treat. Come for a host of specialty champagne cocktails and deluxe tapas offerings. From crudo to ceviche and an off menu merengue.

Yelp
This place is amazing. I just kept jumping and jumping and jumping. I tried taking a paddle board down but someone yelled that it was private property. Wasn't sure if they were talking to us because there were snorkelers on the other end. But we were the only ones there so we just left. Found this weird though because I found the spot on Instagram and it's usually packed with people. There is also a clearly paved out trail leading to the cliff and steps to get you back up from the water. Anyways... it's absolutely beautiful. Clue blue water deep enough to jump without fear. Calm waters perfect for just swimming too.

Yelp
Seriously ... one of the best sunset views on the planet. This week, champagne is flowing everyday from 4 to 8 amd it is open to the public. Very special! I had the berry muddled drink today and it was awesome. I'm coming back tomorrow! Cheers!

Yelp
Ummmm! How could a champagne house off the shore of Maui, where you cliff dive, swim over & enjoy a glass of Champs be less than Golden?! I believe in Magic!

Kenneth H.

Yelp
This was one of my favorite spots on Maui. It can be a little hard to find but if you park on the street near Seahouse restaurant you can continue following that street on foot then turn into Montage and find the park trail and follow it the cliffs! There's a nearby beach, and smaller spots for the kids to jump too!

Yelp
Looking for somewhere to cool off on the west side? Cliff house has got you covered. This place has perfect water, amazing views and fun snorkeling but it's not a place for everyone. You need to use extreme caution when coming here to swim. It's not a beach and the water can get rough. I personally wouldn't bring little kids here unless they know how to swim and it's in the calm water months of summer. Bring floaties and hang out-just be aware that it's either in the water, or on the hot rocks. There isn't a sandy beach to lay out on. But it sure is a beautiful view. It's fun to watch the local kids do flips and stunts. Getting to the cliff house is a bit of a walk and you'll need to get there early to ensure that you get a parking spot. Parking is very limited. The water is a perfect shade of blue with an incredible reef to enjoy. Locals know, but guests sometimes need to be reminded: do NOT touch the reef. We are guests and it's only for looking. Whatever you take IN to the area, please take OUT. So many times there is garbage left behind. Respect the aina. There are no bathrooms here. There is a shower located by the parking lot. Watch out for wana (sea urchins), don't touch turtles and take lots of pictures. It is a beautiful place to enjoy.

Yelp
Very beautiful place to swim/jump off rocks! Parking is pretty limited, depending when you go. A lot of locals come here and bring their kids. You have to walk a distance to get to the spot. Through the hotel, and an easy dirt/gravel trail to walk along. It's not exactly a great place to bring your kids to only because of the rocks once you get there. Unless your kids got great coordination Nice to bring your floaties and just relax in the water. Very nice views and clean waters!

Shaina M.

Yelp
Best place on my Maui visit. We parked in a lot 30 minutes/2 miles from the location. You literally have to walk through on a boardwalk but the views are stunning. When you get to the gravel road, go straight through the dirt path and plants. There's a lifeguard at the location (least when we went around noon on thanksgiving). The first jump was scary but then the following ones were a pleasure to dive into. Make sure you know how to swim!!!!!! I'm not the strongest swimmer but I was able to do it. I highly advise wearing water shoes too so you can climb up on the rocks (shaped as stairs). So much fun!

Yelp
Intimate and secluded, this place is one of the best venues in Maui for a romantic moment. The sunset is right in front of you. The little cove is a favorite for snorkeling and watching turtles. it has a small kitchen and bathrooms downstairs with showers. I believe it was remodeled in 2011, and it is very nicely built. In April 2012 I rented it out for a night to ask my future wife for her hand in marriage. We had a perfect evening while the caterer prepared our dinner in the on-site kitchen. We loved it so much that when we planned our wedding we got married on Kapalua Beach (150 yards away ) and had our wedding dinner at sunset at the Cliff House. We fit 20 people into the cliff house for dinner- this is definitely the maximum number of people for a comfortable sit-down dinner.

Yelp
It was a fun place to jump into the ocean. It is a little hard to find and unfortunately the day I went it was windy and the water was a little rough. I would definitely go here again on a nicer day.

Yelp
Kapalua Cliif House is an amazing location for your intimate wedding reception. The view is incredible it's as if you are in the middle of the ocean. It is perfect for an intimate dinner for two or a cocktail reception for more. We enjoy working in the tranquility of this location. Tina Digman Food For The Soul Catering Maui

Yelp
The Cliff House was recently completed and as we watched it being renovated, the idea of holding meditation, yoga or inspirational events for Energy Talk Radio there came to mind as it's an intimate, elegant and magical setting. The facility is first class and the beautiful cove is awe inspiring and picturesque. On top of that, the staff are kind, professional and very connected to the culture of the island.

Yelp
This is a great location for a intimate event! Great views right on the water and close to great locations. A sunset view I am sure you will never ever forget! If you want a great location right on the ocean - ON THE OCEAN - you will love this venue!!!

Tracy M.

Yelp
You won't find any other private event venue like this on Maui! The view and the atmosphere are incredible!

Yelp
The best kept secret on Maui! It's a very special hideaway that will bring you unforgettable memories. Perfect for a romantic evening or private celebration. We'll definitely be back. Thanks for making this available for us to enjoy.

Yelp
This Kapalua Cliff House has a long history on Maui and has not been usable for several years. The lava cliff on the north side of the Cliff House creates a natural wind block, which makes for incredibly clear, calm ocean conditions (unless there is a large winter swell). For those who think they've done and seen all that Maui has to offer this place will blow you away. Magical is a word that comes to mind. One of the best spots ocean front locations on an island that is considered one of the most beautiful in the world!

Whitney N.

Yelp
Kapalua Cliff House is a spectacular venue for small gatherings. It's all about location and it doesn't get better than this. The water clarity is amazing, the views are unbeatable and the newly remodeled house is designed for entertaining!

Sheree G.

Yelp
The Cliff House is an ideal location for those magical Maui memories. Whether you're planning an intimate dinner for two or a unique venue for a small wedding reception, you just can't beat this West Side oceanfront option. There is nothing else like it on the island!

Mark S.

Yelp
Finally the Westside has a spectacular event location open to everyone. With waves crashing on the rocks below your feet and colorful Hawaiian sunsets over the neighbor islands make the Cliff House truly a one of a kind experience.
