Kapiti Gateway Motel - Waikanae

A very nice motel unit. Bright, clean and very well appointed. Power points everywhere. Nice quiet location, but walking distance to a New World supermarket and other shops. Great place to stay if you are heading north and arrive in Wellington around 6pm off the ferry.

We had a wonderful stay at the Kapiti Gateway Motel. The location is excellent — close to plenty of local attractions, making it easy to explore the area. The rooms were spotless, spacious, and equipped with everything we needed for a comfortable stay. The owners were incredibly friendly and helpful, which made the experience even better. This is definitely a place we would happily return to. Highly recommended!

Super hospitable, wonderful couple (John and Francis) who have run this motel for 2 years. Very clean. Excellent service. Well equipped kitchen. We stayed 2 nights in a 2 BR suite and had no complaints. The hosts were very helpful for restaurant choices, etc.

We absolutely loved staying here! Frances and John were so welcoming when we arrived and the room was great. Clean and well thought through, with some nice touches like the selection of teas and complimentary milk, and lots of local info. The spa was very welcome after a 10k walk to Waikanae Beach and I even tried the outdoor pool, which was VERY cold. I would definitely recommend this as a place to stay. Great value too.

After tragic fire experience at home on a Sunday night, we had to relocate family and pets for temporary accommodation. After making contact with the Motel, they were super friendly and accommodating including our dog. The rooms were comfortable, service exceptional and the location ideal and close to shops. Highly recommended

Fully recommend to stay Kapiti Gateway Motel John and Frances are fantastic owners we stayed over Christmas 2025 and New Year’s 2026 our unit was clean and tidy we will be returning to say at the motel give them 10/10

By far the best Motel we have stayed in! This motel exceeded our expectations! Had all the amenities, the room was spotless, daily room service, the staff were awesome & friendly! Awesome location, even has a pool & spa pool, area for the kids to have a play! The list goes on! We will definitely be back & will be letting friends and family know of this piece of paradise!
