Kapua Waʻa Experiences

Owner Kekoa Kekumano was our guide and we don’t have enough positive things to say about our experience. The vibes were thrilling and fun. We took both our kids, 4 and 7 with us and Kekoa played Disney songs over his Bluetooth Speaker to make them both comfy and also have a once in a lifetime experience. We rode multiple waves 🌊 and felt safe the entire time. The current and wind that day were such that we stayed closer to shore but it didn’t detract from the experience it enhanced it. Thank you for a once in a lifetime experience!

This was one of the best ocean experiences I’ve ever had in Hawaii. Kekoa did an amazing job of sharing the history and cultural significance of the area of Kapua. Keanu was an awesome co-captain of the waʻa. I really liked how we were able to paddle out on the ocean and had time to take a little swim closer to one of the shores. I forgot how fast it feels when surfing the waves. Absolute 10 out of 10! If you love the ocean, I recommend everyone (kamaʻāina and non-kamaʻāina) to support local and book a tour with Kekoa and his crew.

We had an incredible time with Kekoa, making it the highlight of our trip. While we usually do the standard outrigger canoe ride outside the Royal Hawaiian every year, Kapua Wa’a offers a unique experience. The canoe is smaller and faster, and Kekoa really knows how to navigate it. What stood out to us was Kekoa’s storytelling about the history of outrigger canoes, Diamond Head, and the various shore breaks. Plus, the views of the Gold Coast were breathtaking. This experience truly felt like an authentic Hawaiian outrigger canoe adventure. It was so enjoyable that I recommended it to a friend who took her family on the tour, and they loved it too. I can't wait to do it again! Also, I suggest getting the GoPro package.

We had an amazing experience on the Outrigger Canoe Experience (for 2 guests). It was the highlight of our trip to Oahu! Kekoa was such a friendly and knowledgeable guide. He took time to explain the history of the area which was a nice addition. Seeing Waikiki from out on the water, and catching some waves in the process, was unforgettable. Would do this again!

We highly recommend Kekoa. We had a great morning surfing waves and learning about some local landmarks and traditions. Kekoa was great, nice to support a young entrepreneur as well. 1st equal for best thing we have done in Hawaii in two visits (other is swimming with turtles at Shark Cove, North Shore for free) 🤟🏼

Mahalo to Kapua Waʻa Experiences for an amazing canoe surfing adventure and for sharing some of the history and deep rooted traditions of Hawaii. Kekoa and his team showed us the true spirit of Aloha. One of the best times we’ve had on the island. Will most definitely do it again. A 10 out of 10 experience. The time we spent with them live in our hearts and memories.

First time in an outrigger canoe was so much fun! loved catching waves and jumping off the side! Such a good vibe with the music and sunshine. Saw some turtles and learned the history of the area . Kekoa and keau are wicked nice and embody the spirit of Aloha. So grateful for this experience! 🤙

We had such a great time with Kapua Wa’a Experiences! Kekoa was awesome & he gave a quick overview at the start with all the safety info and rules, which made us feel at ease. (I was a bit nervous at first!) What really stood out was how he mixed in the history of the area, Hawaiian culture, and the background of outrigger canoeing. It made the experience feel so much more meaningful..not just something fun to do, but something we actually learned from too. I’ve been coming to Hawaiʻi since I was a kid and can’t believe I’d never done outrigger canoeing before. Definitely a highlight of our trip, and the kids had a blast! Highly recommend if you’re looking for something unique, local, and memorable. Mahalo Kekoa!
