We were so taken by the restaurant food, ambiance and service, we went twice in one week. We loved the daily food specials which were a mix of traditional Turkish cooking and fresh local fish and produce. Thank you Firat for your hospitality and recommendations, especially the delicious house cocktail which we were reluctant to try. See you next year.

Located in the historical center a cafe house with solid food offers and drinks. No nonalcoholic beer. The backyard is quiet, you can sit outside. The service is quick and efficient

I made a reservation for two for my boyfriend's birthday and left a note mentioning that and asking for a special thing (could be the server saying happy birthday when bringing our drinks). We got there and it wasn't very busy. I still mentioned that I have a reservation just to let them know that it's us but the server didn't care and told us to grab any table. No one said or did anything special regarding the birthday. We ordered a salad, the fish and the mushrooms pasta. The fish was nice and flavorful. The pasta was just okay and the salad was nice. The atmosphere is nice and cozy. Service is very short and cold. Overall disappointing.

Great atmosphere, service with a smile by the two ladies on the first floor. Food ok, nothing we didn't see or tried but correct. Great wines, lovely music but... İ'dont know who the guy is who walks around bossing around all people. İf you are reading this and you are the manager... Look for a different job. When you are the owner, you have lost all passion for hospitality. You are the only reason why we are not coming back! And stop hitting tourist with you service charges without mentioning it on your menu while you don't even present us the bill. Bummer on a correct dinner!

Lovely dinner at Gümrük on our last evening in town. We were sitting outside at the back listening to jazz music playing from speakers, it was really atmospheric. Service was lovely and relaxed and our oven baked sea bass with garlic mashed potato and olives, absolutely divine. Thumbs up.

Pros - Nice atmosphere/ambience - Decent service - Good bread with olive tapenade and olive oil - Beef rib and mashed potato dish. The beef rib was soft and tender - The house made lemonade was refreshing Cons - Crispy chicken with fries/crispy potatoes. The chicken had an odd aftertaste and felt over cooked. - The tagliatelle with prawns was supposed to have a slight spicy kick to it but lacked any sort of flavour. Weirdly, the tagliatelle had been cut into small pieces which made the dish look unappetising.

We had dinner at Karaköy Gümrük restaurant in Istanbul, and it was fantastic! The food was excellent, full of delicious flavors, and the atmosphere was very inviting. It’s a perfect spot to enjoy a cozy meal.

For fine dining we suggest this place to our customers also. They provide good breakfast menus of course. Do not hesitate to visit this place.

Nice bar with indoor and outdoor seating. We sat our back in their alley for a beer and some sparkling water. Chill spot to hang out. They hand a unfiltered Turkish beer which was pretty good. Service was friendly and quick.

Wonderful beef steak! I love it.Service is just so so because waiter said nothing to me when error alarming happened.No goodbye or smile when I finished pay and extra 10% service fee.This is REALLY impolite though I appreciate his stunning food.Price is a little higher but accepted.

Karakoy Gumruk was recommended to me by a friend. Myself and two co workers went on a rainy holiday in the late afternoon to see what it was all about. Two and a half hours later, we left with our Stomachs full and huge smiles on our faces. The food was healthy, presentable and very well cooked. There are options for meat eaters and vegheads alike. They have delicious tapa type apps that will not disappoint. Their beer and wine selection is vast (for Istanbul standards.) This is a place you are going to want to return again. It is very close to the karakoy tram stop, about a block away. Easy to find once you know where it is, but don't worry even google maps will lead you there, for once!

A favorite spot in Karaköy! The food is delicious (my favorites so far: slow cooked beef, kokoreç & ciğer) and I like the wine selection too. People who work at Gümrük are super friendly! I bring guests/friends usually and it never failed me. Thanks!

Hands down the cutest and most delicious restaurant experience of our trip!! The food was superb, the service was friendly and attentive, and the atmosphere was nothing short of perfection. So glad we stumbled upon this gem!

I revisited the place for lunch time to try the main dishes after a long brake. The place is located in a historical inn. Here is obtained an original place after a renovation of this inn. It has a cozy atmosphere. Chief Stavriani Zervakakou is responsible for kitchen. There are limited number main dishes choices. I decide to try grilled umbra with sea scallop and chickpea. Service was not energic although there were anyone except me. The portion of the plate I chose was too small but its taste was very good. It was one of the most original plates I have ever eaten. The presence of chickpea and soujouk was not deteriorate the taste of the food. Aegean greenery were compatible with fish. The prices were not cheap. If you want to satisfy with food you should order additionally soup and salad. The price of this food is 40 TL. It is a normal price by reason of it is a special food but I think the size of the portions are need to increase. I left the place with a semi hungry stomach. The general characteristic of this kind of restaurants is embrace to present their foods in minimal portions.
