We visited Karel’s Beach Bar for lunch because you simply cannot beat the location. Sitting on a pier directly over the turquoise water is a quintessential Bonaire experience; we even saw a few large tarpon and a turtle swimming right under our table.
The atmosphere is a 10/10, but the rest of the experience was a bit of a mixed bag. Because the kitchen is located across the street from the pier, there is a noticeable delay in service. Our drinks arrived quickly, but it took a long wait for our main courses to reach us.
I ordered the tuna tataki and my partner had the classic burger. The tuna was fresh and well-presented, though the portion felt a bit small for the price. The burger was standard—perfectly fine, but nothing you couldn't find at a typical pub.
Pros:
Incredible sunset views and marine life sightings.
Great spot for a relaxed cocktail.
Very close to the cruise terminal for those on a short port visit.
Cons:
Service can be slow due to the layout.
Prices are high, reflecting the "tourist" location rather than the culinary complexity.
