Interesting spot to visit. The guide was lovely and helpful, toilets are not clean, the cafe is nice, a small market is always there. A gift shop as well. If you’re a movie fan, watch “out of Africa “ before you go there

Well maintained museum and friendly staff. At the entrance you will be appointed a guide who will show you around. We did not feel rushed - the guide took it gentle and adjusted to our pace. The history behind Karen Blixen and the story of the house is explained. Recommendation: do take the nature walk! It’s beautiful.

When you get there you are assigned a tour guide to show you around and tell you a history about the place. It has two parts the house, the factory and a nature trail. There is also a coffee shop, and they have a nice garden you can have a picnic after the tour.

Karen Blixen Museum is very informative and the guides know all the details of this historical figure and her life and work in colonial Kenya, whose life was made into a film by Hollywood in 1985, Out of Africa.

Museum was good in that you get to see Karen's house and understand her impact on the community. Our assigned guide was a young lady and she was very, very quiet so it was difficult to hear her.

Fabulous place to visit in Nairobi. We had the best guide (her name was Immaculate) and she was outstanding. This is a really interesting place in beautiful grounds that really captures the era of colonial invasion and occupation. The movie “Out of Africa” was partly made here. There is a very complicated entry procedure involving QR codes, information exchange and then a series of complicated entries which eventually concludes with a coded ticket. This is to stop corruption at a local level. Highly recommended.

The Karen Blixen Museum was once the centre piece of a farm at the foot of the Ngong Hills owned by Danish Author Karen and her Swedish Husband, Baron Bror Blixen-Finecke. Located 10km from the city centre of Nairobi, the museum belongs to a different time period in the history of Kenya, and later gained international acclaim with the release of the movie ‘Out of Africa’, an Oscar winning film based on Karen’s autobiography by the same title. Built in 1912 , Karen and her husband bought the house in 1917 and it became the farm house for their 6,000-acre farm, of which 600 acres was used for coffee farming. Their marriage failed after eight years and in 1921 the Baron moved on and left the running of the farm to Karen. Karen lived at the house until her return to Denmark in 1931. It’s a nostalgic visit to experience the life of a expatriate living in colonial Kenya in the early 20th century.
