I remember coming here when they first opened and their food, quality, and service have never wavered. If anything, they’ve gotten better. I’ve had almost everything on their menu at this point and look forward to new additions and specials. They do have liquor (no byob) in case you were wondering. Everyone I’ve brought here has become a repeat customer. I’ve even had one of my parties catered by Karenderya!

Food is authentic, The owner is a very nice guy. Had a good talk., ordered bunch of Filipino dishes its great. Feels like home! Definitely will be back.

Google
Family owned, delicious food. Great Filipino food, wish the menu was a little more diverse, would love to see some tinola or other off the beaten path dishes on there but the quality of what is there is definitely worth the price. Owners clearly care about providing good food and they deliver, maraming salamat 🙏

The best restaurant. My go to for cravings and even large orders for parties. Always great food and even better service. Genuinely good people run this place. Happy to be part of the Karenderya family. 💯😊

Without a doubt this is my favorite restaurant since moving to New York. I eaten at Karenderya a month ago and my taste buds went wild then soon as I left I was instantly craving their food. Finally made it back with my visiting parents who were craving the same thing! My parents ordered Daing na Bangus with an extra milkfish because it is that delicious to them! I enjoyed the tocino last visit so I decided to be adventurous try other items lo and behold the Adobo Pork Belly was exquisite. The pork belly was marinated well filled with flavor from the first bite and it simply melted in my mouth. Let’s say we all cleaned our plates. The atmosphere is a homey feeling serving us homemade food made with love, welcoming hospitality and food served in a timely manner. We will be back again hopefully to become a regular!

I have ate here twice now and each time was excellent. The first time we grabbed our order to go and the second time we dined in. The spot is really special with it's cozy and inviting atmosphere (beautiful wooden tables with mismatched wooden chairs and beautiful glass water bottles if you order water for your table). It's a rather small restuarant but don't let that fool you, the flavors are all umami! This place always seems to be fairly busy so please practice patience, as they are a smaller business. They are a very kind, hard working family and provided great service with fantastic recommendations. We enjoyed several items off the menu including: Lumpiang Shanghai (these mini egg rolls are divine and the spicy banana ketchup was amazing) , Mini Pork Empanadas (the empanadas melt in your mouth and the sweet chili dipping sauce was phenomenal), Fried Crispy Chicken (we got this with the garlic rice bowl and it was some of the best fried chicken and garlic rice I have ever tasted), and the Pansit Bihon (we got the shrimp pansit and it was so tasty). For dessert: Turon (3 spring rolls with fried plantains and jackfruit filling, think mini fruit pies-so good!) and Cassava Cake (almost reminiscent of flan. Creamy, custardy, and very delicious!)

Karenderya is among the best and only Filipino spots in Rockland, and it has fair prices and delicious food. The service was pretty slow (entrees took almost an hour to come out), but the staff were friendly and they seemed pretty busy and understaffed overall. We got there around noon on a Sunday, and there were still plenty of tables, but it got busier as the day went on. We got the Lumpiang Shanghai as an appetizer which was solid and flavorful. I also got the Adobo Pork Belly Garlic Fried Rice Bowl. It costs extra for the garlic fried rice, but it’s definitely worth it— it kicked up the savory flavors to a new level. The pork belly was a little salty for my taste, but super tender, well-marinated, and full of flavor. All the bowls seemed really good, and I’d highly recommend them— my mom got the Beef Tapa Garlic Rice Bowl, and the beef was similarly delicious, tender, and well-marinated. We also got the Biko (sticky rice cake) & Turon (banana lumpia) for dessert— both of which were delicious. I especially enjoyed the biko— it was sticky with perfect hints of sweet coconut flavor. — Price (relative to peers): 4.5/5 Food: 4.5/5 Ambience: 4.5/5 Service: 4.5/5 Overall Value: 4.5/5

We visited this lovely little restaurant on a Sunday in September 2024 and we loved the food. We started off with a Lumpiang Shanghai, which are little mini spring rolls. We had the Adobo Pork Belly and the Shrimp Coconut Adobo. Both were well portioned and delicious and a lot filling than I expected. The pork belly was juicy, tender, and well seasoned. The Shrimp Coconut Adobo had 8 shrimps which was a welcomed surprised. The coconut sauce was heavenly and the garlic rice was unbeatable. We followed it up with the Flan with cashew brittle which was also excellent. The decor was reminiscent of south east Asia and the selection of 80’s hits that played at a comfortable volume made me feel like I very much was in SE Asia. The woman who looked to be the owner of the place was very friendly and the wait staff was attentive if not a little shy. We would definitely come here again. Nice gem on Main Street Nyack.

Yelp
Good food and vibes. Cute cozy casual space for lunch with friends or a date or family (there seems to be a small kids area). Tried the kare kare which was creamy, had a good peanuty flavor (though not too strong/personal pref would have been an even stronger peanut flavor), and the oxtail was nice & soft. Also loved the adobe pork belly bowl & the rec to switch out the boiled egg for a fried one was on point. In comparison, the pancit was ok but didn't really stand out/not my favorite (perhaps a bit mild in taste compared to the other dishes. Our friend was allergic to jackfruit so they put it on the side for the halo halo which was nice of them. Good service! Would definitely come back :)

Yelp
This was some of the best Pinoy food we have ever eaten in a restaurant setting. The vegetarian pancit was superb with excellent flavors, and the server didn't mind when we asked for patis on the side. The kare-kare had perfectly cooked oxtail, and was fabulous, even though there wasn't any bakchoy. My mother-in-law's version usually has more vegetables, but the perfectly balanced flavors with bagoong on the side really hit the spot. The Biko was perfect. It is beautiful inside, clean and has great service.

Yelp
Mar. 2025: We celebrated my father's birthday and ordered a variety of dishes at Karenderya. If you can't make up your mind on what to go with, no worries on feeling pressured to choose. They are patient. We loved our experience here and can't wait to come back. See photos on what we ordered!

Yelp
Phenomenal meal I can't wait to go back! So many people have recommended this place to me for years and I am overjoyed I finally got to give it a try! Really nice service and a nice place to go on a leisurely Sunday afternoon!

Yelp
Longanisa takes 30 mins to make so I opted for the chicken tocino which was fabulous. I wish I didn't live so far, I'd try their whole menu

Yelp
Went on an impromptu drive from NYC as a pre-birthday brunch on the 22nd. My husband knows this has been on my list for the longest time since I read about their Chef, Chef Paolo making it as a Semifinalist for Best Chef: New York State for the 2023 James Beard Foundation Awards. I was pretty excited on a Sunday morning and they accommodated my last minute reservation on email. Appreciated that very much as the place was pretty full when we got there. No designated parking so just have to rely on street parking but not really hard to find if you're determined! :) Place was pretty small and no-frills but clean, there were 3 people who ensured good service. This was going to be our OMAD (One Meal A Day) so we ordered a lot to be able to try as much. Started off with Lumpia which was pretty good but a little salty. The Adobo Pork Belly was delicious but the Chicken Tocino was the highlight among all the dishes that day, and that's coming from someone who doesn't really order Tocino often. We also ordered Kare Kare and it was good. We also ordered food to go to reheat and enjoy during the week : Beef Tapa (good!), the Rib Sinigang (wish there were actually more soup), Pansit Bihon (delicious and used quality shrimps!) and the Shrimp Coconut Adobo (again, great quality of shrimps used as well as size and portion). Glad we were able to visit and try! :)

Yelp
It small but very family friendly they have a children's corner with a little area to play and toys. They get packed quickly but food is absolutely amazing. We order catering from there because its so amazing. All the staff is so friendly. The owner is super sweet. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Love this place. Went here last night. Its like going to a family dinner very cozy. Food is always fresh and cooked perfectly. You really have to come here. Anything on menu is great

Yelp
Very good food! We even managed to feed a vegetarian guest who never had Filipino food before! Our favorites are the lumpia and the Daing na Bangus with Garlic Rice. Hits for everyone at the table. Even the vegetarian lumpia was chunky and had the same great crunch as the Shanghai lumpia We also enjoyed calamansi juice with chia seeds! Very soothing and hard to find Cheryl our server was attentive and the wife of the owner! She also helped us with a birthday surprise Really great experience for a newer Filipino restaurant, we had a wonderful time

Yelp
Me and my family have been meaning to try this place for some months now and stopped in this past Friday after I arrived in Nyack for some family time - and now I'm sure I will be frequenting this restaurant whenever I'm in town. I had the Kare Kare, my sister had the pork belly rice bowl and my brother had the shrimp coconut adobo, we also ordered lumpia and the crispy potatoes for the table The Kare Kare - in a really hearty and delicious peanut sauce, the oxtail was juicy and succulent and melts in your mouth. It was absolutely out of this world The pork belly - sweet, tangy and cooked so well. Again, melt in your mouth dish The coconut adobo shrimp - this particular dish is special, it's was unexpectedly a little spicy, but super light and fragrant (if that makes sense) the coconut flavor was just so well balanced with the rest of the dish Lumpiang - crunchy and an amazing start to the meal, the ketchup was a well balanced condiment (I've had some banana ketchup at other places that just overwhelmed the flavor of the lumpiang before) Crispy potatoes - the pairing of calamansi and the crispy / airiness of the potatoes was sublime. Lastly, the service - I know one of the people taking care of us that evening was the (or one of?) owner. Super attentive and sweet. It's obvious this establishment and it's operators are making an amazing effort to deliver not only delicious Filipino cuisine, but a lovely and homey atmosphere. I CANNOT WAIT TO GO BACK.

Yelp
We love this restaurant. On corner of Main St and Midland Ave. Sooo delicious. Especially their Tamarind Chicken wings. Best in county. And the staff ? So friendly and caring. Prices ? $$ out of $$$$. Affordable reasonable. Go there !

Yelp
We love this! Went with friends and ate most of the menu lol . We had lumpia , empanada , wings for appetizers and Bicol ,Kare Kare , beef tapas and pork ribs . Cassava cake for desert ! Everything was delicious and the owner was very sweet ! Small place but great for nice conversation and ambiance .
google avatar

Ilana F.

Yelp
Wow! The best Filipino restaurant I think I've ever been to. Everything we ate was delicious: the wings, the bangus, the vegetables, even the calamnsi dressing in the cucumber tomato side salad was great...I can't wait to go back and try more of the food!
google avatar

Yelp
Great service and a good selection of Filipino specialties. Really loved the tamarind wings, pork adobo, Bicol express, and daing. Loved how the shrimp pancit used jumbo shrimp. Must get halo halo too!! Has good ube halaya. They have about 5 tables inside and some outdoor seating. Definitely try if you are in the area.

Lydia L.

Yelp
My first visit had the vegetable pancit with tofu very fresh and tasty. The website says they have duck empanadas, but instead they had a meat empanada, which was also pretty good.

Yelp
Who knew that there's a world-class Filipino eatery tucked away in an unassuming storefront at the edge of downtown Nyack, NY? If Anthony Bourdain were alive today, this would be his kind of place. Where there is no pomp and circumstance, but every dish you try is so *bleeping* good you will remember it for years to come and where the family that owns it treats you like family even though you've only just met. I got the crispy chicken rice bowl with garlic rice and was so glad I upgraded. While the chicken was first class, super tender and fried to a perfect crisp, the rice was simply out of this world. So flavorful, and something I'll be working on recreating at home for sure. My mom got the veggie pansit, which was also full of flavor and perfectly balanced. The crispy tofu was also next level. And this epic culinary journey cost all of $11.50 per dish. Unbelievable. Wheelchair access: Two of the outdoor patio tables are on the street level and fully accessible. There is a big step at the Main Street entrance but there is a barrier free entrance around the corner where the outdoor dining patio is. Not sure about restroom as I didn't use it.

Lauren R.

Yelp
Delicious food! Great service! Will definitely be going back again!! We had the Crispy Tofu, Pork Belly Sandwich, spring rolls and chicken dish. Adults and kids enjoyed everything!

Yelp
We drove out here to see the fall colors on a nice Sunday afternoon. Unfortunately it was a bit too early but the drive up the Palisades is good. We were interested in the preparation and food fusion Karenderya were offering. Compared to other Filipino spots, we found them ok. Similar ordering to city spots. Order at the counter and they will bring you the food. Small but well thought out menu of classic Filipino dishes. The decor was fine. Chairs and tables are mismatched and space could be better managed with a large bar in the corner that doesn't seem to belong for the type of fast casual restaurant it seems to present. Food overall was also ok. Garlic rice is very, very garlickly. Presentation and tastes were also ok. Service is friendly but inconsistent. Water and utensils are self service. Popular items do run out. Overall just ok. Food could be more balanced and not be overwhelmed with garlic.

Richard G.

Yelp
The food was great.....did it as a takeaway. Everything was ready exactly at pickup time. Still warm and ready to eat as soon as I got home. Highly recommend anyone trying this place.

Yelp
I don't know how this establishment flew outside of my radar but alas, I dined and it was a memorable experience. Perhaps it's because of its small window (5pm-8pm Wed-Fri and 12:30-8pm sat&sun) I never been before or maybe because it's off the beaten path of restaurants in Nyack but this place is a must stop. After talking with Filipino friends about this place, they assure us, it was indeed legit. And if you go to their website, check out the videos and articles under Press. Sure to make your mouth water before you even go. It did for me. On to the food: We mimicked The Crawl video and ordered the mouthwatering -Adobo Pork Belly -Shrimp Coconut Adobo -Pansit Bihon w/ Chicken I don't have to go into how good each one was but, Pork Belly perfect, served atop Garlic rice also perfect. shrimp adobo dish my favorite, complex, addictive flavored broth with the crispy onion topping. Yum. Sadly we wanted to order the Beef Sotanghon Soup but they said they were out of it so that easily made our minds up to return again for a second time. We'll be back soon. Things to note: If you are dining close to closing, they seem to be prompt when doing so, so if your interested in any of their desserts, put it in with your food order. Make a reservation, not that we had any trouble getting a table, but we did opt for outdoor dining and when we arrived they had the little "reserved" table sign for us. Makes a diner feel special. PS. DYK, Esquire magazine named this restaurant one of the top 20 in the nation? Now go try it!

Yelp
Karenderya's Kare-Kare! This has been on my radar for a long time and my wish got fulfilled this week. It's meat is just one kind, tender oxtail that melted in my mouth. The savory peanut sauce is a perfect soupy complement to the super garlicky fried rice (optional). The vegetable is sparse, with only Chinese bokchoy and string beans. The shrimp paste is sautéed with some sweetness. It's a big bowl of my favorite Filipino dish at less than $20 and Karenderya's version made my day! Other dishes I ate with gusto is a new dish, tofu swimming in peanut sauce (it's a bit excessive sauce though but I'm appreciating the generosity in serving). As before, the ribs sinigang pleased. I like how the ribs are browned first before it was stewed in tamarind broth. If I were still hungry, I would have tried their fried chicken thigh that looks so appetizing! Bonus! I get to meet a UP Diliman and UP Manila alumnae, retired RN Ms Fe Baun at the restaurant. She's mom-in-law to Chef Paolo Garcia. A self-proclaimed PRO of the restaurant, she happily talks to most patrons and exchanged cards with me . UP reunion at the restaurant, maybe? Just one of the things we touched. PS I hope they do something with the exhaust

Ilana K.

Yelp
Wonderful, wonderful meal! Crispy potatoes appetizer has a lovely aioli dipping sauce and potatoes cooked perfectly. Mushroom & tofu pansit was delicious with nicely crispy tofu. And Shrimp Coconut Adobo had a fabulous broth and great combo of sweet potatoes with perfectly cooked shrimp. Get the garlic rice instead of plain. Yum. Hope to come back next time we are passing through Nyack.

Yelp
I can't believe that we've driven past this place numerous times without knowing what an amazing Filipino restaurant it is! The menu features authentic traditional Filipino fare, at surprisingly fair prices. We are a party of four - two carnivores and two herbivores, and all found items that impressed and satisfied our palates. Crispy Tofu with Peanut Sauce is a must try! The peanut sauce is unlike what we've tasted in Thai, Indonesian or Vietnamese cuisines. It is uniquely flavorful and aromatic. Both Adobo Pork Belly and Kare Kare (with oxtail) had the meat-eaters dance with joy, while Ginataang Vegetables would leave you wanting to lick the bowl clean of the coconut sauce. Oh, thou shalt order Garlic Rice whenever possible, per instructions from the Filipino native in our party. Vegetable Lumpias and Pansit Bihon are similar to other cuisines that feature spring rolls and glass noodles but here they are really delicious too. You should not leave without tasting their dessert, esp. Cassava Cake and Biko - again, finger licking good! It's apparently a family-owned business by an old couple, who were super friendly and attentive. (Unfortunately I forgot to take photos ... will add them when I visit next time :-))

Yelp
4.5: An enjoyable food experience at this no-frills filipino spot. You order at the counter and then find your own seating. There's self-serve water and plates/forks to the side of the counter. The server was friendly and they played good music. I had the veggie bowl, which was quite filling and had an assortment of vegetables like eggplant, only a few pieces of tofu, and squash-type item. There was a strongish flavor of coconut. Beef tapa sandwich got rave reviews as well - good marinade on the meat. There's only limited street parking but it's worth it if you want to park in the main part of town and walk a bit. The location isn't the greatest, unless you're looking for it, so I hope it gets the foot traffic and business it deserves.

Eric W.

Yelp
Yummy! We started with the pork lumpiang and the tamarind wings: delicious! Our mains were the crispy chicken and the shrimp with sweet potatoes, we chose to have both dishes served with garlic rice: we licked our plates clean. Washed it all down with crisp, cold, locally brewed beers. Dessert was the house special, the Halo Halo: a wonderfully sweet, refreshing treat to round out the meal. Will be back to try everything else on the menu!!

Yelp
As a Filipino American, whenever I've been to Filipino restaurants I would always leave thinking disappointedly that, "I should have just made that at home and it would have tasted better for far cheaper. The typical "point and serve" Filipino foods don't quite taste like home. This was the first time ever that I left a Filipino restaurant wanting to come back and try the rest of their menu because it was better than home made (hopefully my wife and Mom aren't reading this). With our Moms visiting from Cali and VA, we decided to check this place out. The menu was familiar, yet unique and diverse with that ever popular modern fusion flare. I have no doubt that their classic dishes like sinigang or pancit bihon are as good or even better than what we make at home. We had the lumpia, coconut shrimp adobo, Bicol express, daing, garlic rice, tamarind wings, and halo halo at the end. As soon as I had the garlic rice, I knew they were legit! The service and food were excellent and we will definitely be back!

Yelp
Finallyyyyyy got to try this place after so much hub bub from the Gordinier Esquire piece.. I really didn't like Gordinier after that Chefs Table Jeong kwan episode. He was seemingly too busy to try some different cuisine and had to be told to go by Ripert lol.. How narrow minded and thereby imo a shitty critic. Not sure if he was trying to be some white knight by putting this place in the top twenty, but unfortunately this place doesn't live up to the hype. Very solid food overall esp for the price but nothing special. Service was excellent. I didn't call in, so not sure about this salty female who answers the phone lol but the young man working the front was great. Receptive, welcoming and positive. I'll def be back for some take away because Karenderya serves what I feel like is some good home cooked food. I was stuffed and couldn't finish. 3* overall +1* for service!

Louis-Daniel B.

Yelp
Been a few times there and the quality of the food is always consistent. Family operated business and they've been treating us as family, remembering our last visit and what we like to order. Very cozy, personable warm welcome. When the time comes for great food, i just gotta go get my fix

Yelp
How have I not tried this spot by now?! Fantastic Filipino food in a cozy laid back atmosphere located in Nyack. They have a small bar area stocked with beer from Industrial Arts as well as Filipino beers. We had the Red Horse Beer which was 8% alcohol but had very good taste. Went with a group of friends so we decided to go family style and ordered most of the menu to split. We started with Lumpiang Shanghai (spring rolls) and Mini Pork Empenadas. Then we ordered two rice bowls; Adobo Pork Belly and Ginataang Vegetables. Both were delicious and cost under $10. We also ordered all four of their large plates. Everything was great. Packed with flavor and hardy. The staff was super friendly and attentive. We went on a Friday night at 7:30 and surprisingly it wasn't very crowded. I'll definitely be back for one of their rice bowls (which you can also order as a sandwich).

Arnold M.

Yelp
Paolo and Team represented nothing short of top-level hospitality and customer service. Ordered catering for a family gathering, Paolo worked with me to determine the proper amount of food, food was piping-hot fresh and ready when expected, and took great care in detailed preparation of the food for transport. The grownups (all from the Philippines) cheered praises for every dish. The kids repeated walked off with mountains on their plates, the Lumpia vanished almost immediately. Looking forward to returning to the restaurant and enjoying their food again. Very special place for the family now.

Dave A.

Yelp
New to Nyack, we driven by this restaurant all the time and have noticed it's always busy. We weren't sure what kind of food they served, but it looked like a casual, friendly environment. A friend who is more a foodie came to visit us for the first time in the new town and in looking for interesting places to eat at - she found Karenderya. I almost wish she didn't - I now want to eat there every day! We love food from all over the world but had never had Filipino food. We had no idea what to expect. The menu is simple, and they only have a few vegan options, but WOW. Quality ingredients combined with great textures and amazing sauces...I'd call it an "experience for your mouth and stomach". It's not fancy - it's just insanely delicious. Even the Garlic Rice. I don't think it can get more simple: rice and garlic. But somehow it was so good as a support to the main dishes that everyone commented on how good it was. Rice. And garlic. Karenderya is causal and friendly, so don't expect a fancy environment. It feels run by a family, so appreciate the value of that and be a little patient if things take a little while. Most importantly - expect food that makes your stomach happy and your eyes do this . So good....

Yelp
By proximity, though took us 20 minutes to drive, this is the closest Filipino place near our home. It was a late lunch/early dinner when we decided to go to this place. Parking will be on the street which is not that hard to find a spot. When we got in this place we were greeted by the staff and asks us if we have been here before or our first time. So, it is our first time and he instructed us that we could get a menu which is on a clipboard, and that we could get our utensils, plates, water and glasses by the nearby table/utensils station. This reminds me of the Carinderias (food stall with small seating area) back home back. They have a relatively few items in the menu. I forgot to take a photo to share it here in yelp. Nonetheless, when we ordered the Bicol express, pork adobo, pansit bihon and the calamansi these food is close to the authentic ones. We may go back in here in the near future to try out the rest of their food.

Yelp
Recommend: Adobo pork belly, Kare Kare, Duck Empanada, San Miguel beer, fried crispy chicken, garlic rice, crispy tofu You order at the counter, pick a table and grab your own plates, utensils, glasses and water. The staff then brings your food to the table, you enjoy and then pay at the counter. It's Karenderya style serve-yourself concept, but to be honest though, I'm not a fan of this combination of a sit down but serve yourself dining. A bit confusing. They also have a bar and San Miguel beer available, which is a plus. Food portion and serving is of individual size, not the usual family-style, Filipino dining experience, so keep that in mind when ordering. Restaurant in itself is limited in size so not a typical place I would suggest for big groups. If so, call ahead and also warn them street parking may be limited, depending on the time of day--typical for this area. Overall, would rate 3.5-4 stars for the food with a slight twist of the traditional Filipino cuisine.

Yelp
Sometimes I go somewhere and have to realize that not all reviewers are created equal. My fiancé and I wanted to escape the city for a meal and this place had insane reviews and even award recognition as a top 20 new restaurant in the country! The people here were lovely and the place is cute but the food was just super disappointing. And by that I don't mean that it didn't live up to its lofty expectations; I mean that we didn't even want to eat it and left most of our meal. The Tamarind Wings appetizer was decent but the pork ribs were dry and the sauce watery; same with the braised beef dish. We were stoked for this mind blowing garlic rice which was mediocre at best. I miss Kuma Inn in the city, but hope this place continues to improve.

Yelp
A weekend getaway to New York means hitting a few Filipino spots in the area. A family owned business, we were welcomed with great hospitality and delicious food. As soon as I walked in, I felt right at home with the wooden bar and restaurant decor. Karenderya is located in a beautiful small town of Nyack. They were featured on The Esquire magazine rated #19 as one of the best new restaurants in 2018. Simple menu with great flavors! We ordered the Vegetable Lumpia for starters and it was delicious. It was filled with the perfect amount vegetables and less of the wrapping, now that's what you call a proper lumpia. For the main entree, I ordered the Beef Tapa rice with fried egg. The beef was super tender and had great marinade flavors. The dish had a side of homemade achara (Filipino papaya relish) that paired perfectly with the beef and rice. We also ordered Kare-Kare (oxtail braised in peanut sauce). The dish was so delicious it tasted similar to my mom's cooking. Affordable prices and generous portions, good enough to share. For dessert, we ordered Turon (banana lumpia with caramel) and Biko (sweet rice cake) which were both delicious! Both desserts had the perfect amount of sweetness. The chef gave us an additional complimentary dessert, Coconut Panna Cotta with Candied Ginger. I have the biggest regret not taking an extra order to go. The passion fruit sauce complimented the coconut flavor of the panna cotta, this dessert screamed summer! The love and passion for their business really shined in their food. High quality food made with fresh ingredients and great flavors. I told a few locals about this gem during my stay in NY and I can't wait to come back for more! Thank you for the impeccable customer service and delicious Filipino food!

Yelp
Woke up one day craving kare kare so went on Yelp and found this gem. When you first walk in you feel right at home with cozy decorations and smiling faces. This restaurant is a little different where you seat yourself, order up front, grab your own cutlery, and patiently wait for your food to come out. We decided to try their lumpia ($8 for 10 pieces) kare kare ($15), and bicol express ($11). I wasnt sure if I should expect authentic Filipino food or an Asian-fusion take on the classics.... but I was pleasantly surprised! The kare kare had the right touch of peanut butter, their bicol express had the perfect coconut spice, and their garlic rice was amazing! Compared to other casual dining Filipino restaurants I've been to, this one raises the bar not only with taste, but with their service and atmosphere. I will definitely be back for more!

Yelp
Friendly fast service and delicious, no frills Philippino food. I had the fried chicken and garlic rice. It was delicious and well cooked. I'd definitely come back here again and try other items on the menu.

Yelp
I always try and give this place a chance since it is one of the few Filipino restaurants that is local. However, the wait to get your food is terrible. They need another chef. It is understandable that food is to be made to order but the wait is absurd. I have already been here an hour and the food has still not arrived.

Yelp
I've not had Filipino food much, but this place was definitely notches up from what I've had in the past. From my past experience, I've encountered Filipino food as being very fried and salty, but Karenderya kept things here much less greasy and less dessicating. All dishes were executed with perfection and with light batter as opposed to the heavy fried experience I've had in the past. To be fair though, this time I had a real Filipino ordering for us, and what he did order was good. I give the restaurant's preparation, quality, and service a 5 star rating, but still have to consider that I don't see myself craving Filipino food or going out of my way to get this, so I've lowered it to a 4.

Yelp
We had a few dishes for dinner and it was delish. Service was good and friendly as well. Wouldn't say its completely authentic Filipino food but very good flavor mix and I would go back for sure.

Yelp
An awesome addition to the rather stagnant Nyack restaurants. With an atmosphere to match, Karenderya is a great offering of The Philippines. The Bichol Express was probably my favorite dish. The creamy curry, pared perfectly with the savory pork. The dish really left me craving another bite. I would also strongly recommend the Pansit Bihon. I had it with shrimp, in attempts to diversify my proteins. The rice noodles and vegetables were a nice contrast to the porky alternatives. Whichever meal you get, you can't go wrong. But definitely upgrade to the garlic rice, it is truly delicious. I liked the fast casual atmosphere and the stuff was extremely friendly. I hope this place stays around for a while!!

Yelp
I came to eat here on a double date and all four of us left completely happy and satisfied! We all ordered different food so we can try from each other dishes and not one dish missed! I am happy to know that I don't live too far from this little gem, usually to find good international food, I'd drive to Queens, but this spot is so close to home and delivers a true Filipino cuisine experience Sheryl, the owner was very hospitable and friendly! We will be back!

Yelp
Great and respectful staff . I ordered the fried chicken and fried rice and the meal was too salty.

Yelp
Excellent food with reasonable prices in a true ma and pa spot. There aren't many tables, you mostly serve yourself other than having the food brought out, and they may run out of an item or two, but don't let that deter you at all. The meat has such incredible flavor on its own, and the beef taps rice bowl with garlic rice will absolutely hit the spot. It's full to the brim with meat and the papaya slaw nicely bridges it all together without overpowering. Don't miss out on the pork egg rolls which are dangerously tasty and small enough that you might inhale them all. The desserts were underwhelming, but different from the norm.

Yelp
In truth, I'm not sure what the food tasted like due to the salt content. No upside to getting up every hour to drink water. I've had considerably better Filipino dishes in NYC with much less staff attitude. And parking is hell, making the whole experience a complete Don't Bother.
