Chef Bjorn Shen makes the case for Roman-style pizza and discovers a new wave of Japanese curries - SilverKris

"A female-run 12-seater in Shinsen that serves intensely spiced curry likely to ‘give you the sweats’; dishes typically come with Japanese rice and two kinds of mince-based curry separated by pickles, offering a rare high-spice experience in Japan." - SilverKris

I had the coconut chicken and ginger mutton curry combo. Everything was so delicious! The owner helped us order in English and was super nice. This was one of the best meal I had during my trip in Japan! Thank you!

Absolutely amazing food. The customer service from the worker was even more amazing. Found this place via Google maps, and after carefully reading the reviews, I knew I had to go here. As a foreigner, fortunately the worker spoke very good English and helped me with recommendations for my order. The meat was super tender and the flavours were incredible. I ordered the half and half option with pork curry and ginger curry and it was the best of both worlds. The vibe of the place was a very relaxed bar-like atmosphere. I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal 🙏

I was there with a friend, and we had a great conversation with the owner. She’s very nice and told us that she opened her restaurant on her own five years ago. The food was delicious, not least because she prepares it right in front of you, which also adds to the authentic local experience.

Very cool place! Curry was amazing, had three different types on the menu. Also had a great selection of craft beer. The owner was so nice and accommodating, would recommend anyone stopping in.

The best curry I have ever eaten my life. I had the coconut curry chicken while my daughter had the pork curry. We ate an appetizer of white grapes, peaches, mint and cream cheese. It was so refreshing and the flavor combination offered an experience that engaged all of my taste buds at different times. It balanced and complimented the curry dish incredibly well. I found this dish to be not only a delicious meal but more of an art form on a plate. Can’t wait to come back.

If you like Japanese style curry, you'll love this place. It's tiny and looks more like a bar than a place that serves food, but the curry is fantastic. The beer is great too.

Great curry, fish chicken pork with different types for them. I tried the coconut chicken was really good. Tandoori chicken was also really good. The potato salad had spices in them? Was very interesting. Fish curry was good but i preferred the coconut chicken. Great place to try curry!

A small restaurant with counter and bar seats only. The menu was in Japanese, but we figured it out between Google Translate and the owner/chef who could speak enough English to explain. We tried all three curries (coconut chicken, herb pork, and chili chicken (the weekly special)), and they were all delicious. In addition to the curry, each plate came with flavored rice, salad greens, pickled cabbage, pickled daikon, and diced apples in yogurt. Prices were reasonable, and we appreciated the good service, friendliness, and helpfulness from the owner/chef.
