Chef Bjorn Shen makes the case for Roman-style pizza and discovers a new wave of Japanese curries - SilverKris

"A female-run 12-seater in Shinsen that serves intensely spiced curry likely to ‘give you the sweats’; dishes typically come with Japanese rice and two kinds of mince-based curry separated by pickles, offering a rare high-spice experience in Japan." - SilverKris

I had the coconut chicken and ginger mutton curry combo. Everything was so delicious! The owner helped us order in English and was super nice. This was one of the best meal I had during my trip in Japan! Thank you!

Seats up to 8 people inside but very cozy an warm atmosphere, like a hole in the wall. Food was very good, like a mix of Indian and Japanese curry with good drinks. Definitely recommended!

Good music added to the laidback vibe of this place! Curry made with seasonal ingredients for a good price with friendly service! I got the combo curry and a mango lassi made in house and everything was tasty! 🍛🥭😋 Yuki was great! 👏 Stop by if you can!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This was the best meal we had in Tokyo. Was feeling overwhelmed by the crowds near Shibuya Crossing and we were craving curry and decided to go somewhere more quiet. We stumbled into this one woman shop and it was a delightful experience. The woman who owns the shop is so welcoming and the ambiance of this place is so relaxing. Indie American music played in the background during our time here. The food was made right in front of us and the curry smelled phenomenal. It was presented so beautifully. The chicken was the most tender thing I’ve ever bitten into. I got the opposite of the chicken ick. I wish I could inject the sauce straight into my bloodstream. This is the herbs and ginger broth, the coconut curry was slightly darker and with a nuttier taste. It was the most flavorful dish I’ve had so far in Japan. And it wasn’t overly heavy. The addition of the yogurt and pickled/fresh veggies really added more depth to this dish. This was the first place that we visited in Tokyo that made me think that if I was a local, I would stop here all the time.

Absolutely amazing food. The customer service from the worker was even more amazing. Found this place via Google maps, and after carefully reading the reviews, I knew I had to go here. As a foreigner, fortunately the worker spoke very good English and helped me with recommendations for my order. The meat was super tender and the flavours were incredible. I ordered the half and half option with pork curry and ginger curry and it was the best of both worlds. The vibe of the place was a very relaxed bar-like atmosphere. I really enjoyed it. Thank you so much for a wonderful meal 🙏

What an amazing find! Got there right when it opened and it was just us. Hole in the wall spot off the beaten path near Shibuya. Had 3 curry options, including a squid ink one, along with a chicken and onions, and weekly curry. We tried all three and they were delicious! Portions were very generous. I also had a yuzu kosho highball which was to die for! Owner spoke great English and was super friendly. Great vibes in this store as we enjoyed the decor and music. Have eaten a lot of great food while visiting Tokyo but this might have been my favorite meal. Next time we’re in Tokyo, we’ll surely be back!

Very cool place! Curry was amazing, had three different types on the menu. Also had a great selection of craft beer. The owner was so nice and accommodating, would recommend anyone stopping in.

Absolutely the best food we had on our whole trip across Japan and probably the best curry I've had in my entire life. Great drinks, great appetizer, very cozy and friendly vibe. Owned and operated by one person who is very friendly and happy to chat. Highly recommend to anyone, do NOT miss this place
