Karl Johan Hotel

Great location! We were staying here for a few days before going on a cruise and we were very happy with the location and service. The location is right on the main street so it was lively and yet the room was quiet and clean. We were able to walk right to the hotel from the train station which was nice as well. The front desk people were so helpful and kind and made us feel welcome right away. Breakfast was included and was delightful. Thank you for a wonderful stay and looking forward to staying there again when in Oslo!

We spent a night at the Karl Johan Hotel in Oslo and were genuinely impressed from the moment we walked in. The location is incredible — right on Karl Johans Gate, within easy walking distance of the Royal Palace, the Opera House, and some of the city’s most scenic streets. The hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere that makes you feel immediately settled after a day of travel. The lobby and common areas are well-designed without feeling pretentious, and the check-in process was smooth and welcoming. The real standout, though, was the room itself. The bed was by far the most comfortable we’d experienced on the trip — supportive but soft, with fresh, high-quality linens that made it genuinely difficult to get up the next morning. The windows opened onto a charming street view, letting in natural light without the noise you’d expect from such a central location. The bathroom was modern and spotless, with excellent water pressure (a small but important detail after a day of trains and walking). It’s clear they’ve thought carefully about the guest experience here. For anyone traveling through Oslo and wanting a blend of comfort, design, and unbeatable location, Karl Johan Hotel delivers on all fronts.

Excellent location and comfortable stay. Karl Johan Hotel is right in the city center — just a short walk to the Royal Palace, shops, and restaurants. The room was clean and cozy, with everything I needed for a comfortable stay. Staff were friendly and professional, and the breakfast had a nice variety of choices. Even though it’s in a busy area, the atmosphere inside the hotel felt calm and relaxing. A great base for exploring Oslo on foot. 🌟

This is a super location hotel. We arrived at the airport, took the train and in walking distance we got there. Easy really. The hotel is beautiful with nice service (But not super friendly but hey..you are in Norway). The rooms are a bit small but super nice with all the amenities. There is room service but we didn’t use it. It is a quiet hotel and super comfy. We had breakfast included and it was really good -although they could try to do some changes now and then..it’s always the same offering-. Food is fresh and great quality. Definitely we will come back to this hotel. You are in the best location possible..walking distance to tons of places, restaurants and shops.

I recently stayed at Karl Johan Hotel in Oslo for one night and had a very pleasant experience. The room was spacious and quiet, with a comfortable bed and soft mattress that made for a restful sleep. The bathroom was also of a decent size and well maintained. The location is absolutely the best, right in the heart of Oslo, making it very convenient to explore the city. What stood out the most was the staff, very welcoming, attentive, and always happy to provide guidance, which made the stay feel warm and personal. Overall, a great choice for anyone looking for comfort, excellent service, and the perfect location in Oslo.

Well located hotel,on one of the main streets in Oslo. Our room overlooked the parliament building and it was nice to see the people in the street. Our room had a double bed and sofa bed (for 3 adults) and was in the same floor as the breakfast room so convenient for getting around. The room was clean and nicely decorated. The shower room had nice bottles of soap,and shampoo etc. it was a bit odd to have the fridge in the wardrobe but nice to be able to store cold drinks. Breakfast was great, with no need to register room on entry. Lots of options both hot and cold, including a good,choice for vegans. Overall we had a very nice stay here. It is about a ten minute walk from Aker Brygge and about a 15 minute walk from Oslo S train station.

Perfectly located hotel! Lovely interior and cosy rooms. The beds are amazingly comfortable. Plenty of history surrounding the hotel which is very interesting. The breakfast is utterly delicious with plenty of choice and high quality ingredients. Its a wonderful choice for staying in Oslo.

We were surprised when we arrived at the hotel as we chose it for its timeless exterior design. Once out of the lobby, the entire hotel is very modern and very comfortable. |The hotel is located on a pedestrian street across from a small park. It is few blocks from the train and bus station. The Parliament is also across the street.||You are able to take the train from the airport and walk to the property if you don't have a lot of luggage. Otherwise, take a cab from the train station.||There are several restaurants adjacent to the the hotel which is great because the hotel has no restaurant or bar. You can purchase a drink at the front desk.||The front desk was helpful and we did not interact with any other staff.||We would recommend the Karl Johan for lodging in Oslo.
