We spent a night at the Karl Johan Hotel in Oslo and were genuinely impressed from the moment we walked in. The location is incredible — right on Karl Johans Gate, within easy walking distance of the Royal Palace, the Opera House, and some of the city’s most scenic streets. The hotel has a calm, elegant atmosphere that makes you feel immediately settled after a day of travel. The lobby and common areas are well-designed without feeling pretentious, and the check-in process was smooth and welcoming.
The real standout, though, was the room itself. The bed was by far the most comfortable we’d experienced on the trip — supportive but soft, with fresh, high-quality linens that made it genuinely difficult to get up the next morning. The windows opened onto a charming street view, letting in natural light without the noise you’d expect from such a central location. The bathroom was modern and spotless, with excellent water pressure (a small but important detail after a day of trains and walking). It’s clear they’ve thought carefully about the guest experience here. For anyone traveling through Oslo and wanting a blend of comfort, design, and unbeatable location, Karl Johan Hotel delivers on all fronts.
