I was drawn in by the beautiful ceramic cups and books displayed in the window as I was passing by. Once inside, I was captivated by the artistic selection of books - it was a feast for the eyes! The only downside was the lack of visible price tags. Next time I'm in the area, I'd love to pick up a small book as a memento. Definitely worth a visit for book lovers and those who appreciate aesthetics!

Not much of a fan of the book collections or vibe, but some of the pottery was beautiful.

Exceptionally curated arts books. One of the cities gems. This and others like it in this city is why you live here. Vibe check : the wonderful atmosphere created by the owner isn't quite matched by the "book seller" at the register.

Really great bookstore with an awesome selection. I made a vague description about what I was looking for and got some amazing suggestions & walked out of there with the perfect thing! I’m glad I live out of town or else this place would be a problem for me lol

The very stereotypical NYC pretentious bookstore, but did have a handful of book gems, so worth a look still.

Beautiful, well-curated store with new and out-of-print titles.

Really noce little store specializing in art books in the East Village. Stop by if you need art books. Ic you don't need art books then I don't need you.

Yelp
With an artist like Devonte Hynes, Karma bookstore should have run a more transparent entrance procedure. Everyone waiting in line should have been informed that only those with a response to their RSVP are guaranteed entrance. What happened on the evening of 11-15-23 was disrespectful to those who came to support that bookstore and Dev Hynes. Karma needs to find a way to do better.

Yelp
It's hard to believe that I'm the first to write a review for Karma's new location on 136 East 3rd street. I'm more than happy to do so as it's my favorite bookstore anywhere. This new space is great! They seem to have a lot more room at this location to display their sizable inventory of wonderful artist edition books and rare monographs. It's really an awesome space that everyone should visit. I stopped in over the Memorial Day weekend (5/26/18) and had a really nice chat with Matt Shustem, the manager of the new location. Super nice guy who really knows his stuff. Karma is a wonderful place and they do amazing collaborations with artist like Richard Prince and Jonas Wood on books and limited edition prints. I'm really thankful for this and thankful that Karma makes this kind of thing possible. I'm a long-time fan and supporter of Karma and will be as long as they're around.

Yelp
It's truly sad that there aren't more reviews for this unbelievably well-curated bookstore, run by a prince of a man. The owner helped me get a cantankerous author I deeply love to sign a book for a friend of mine, and then, without telling me, had one signed for me as well. I damn near cried. Then, when the same cantankerous author I loved held a book signing, he refused to sell me another rare book of the author's, saying that he wanted everyone to have the opportunity to get a prized signed book. And then, at the end of the signing, satisfied that he would have an extra copy of that second rare book, he allowed me to purchase it. But wait, there's more! I spotted another rare set of magazines I wanted, and he quoted me a more than fair price, but one I couldn't afford because of the beating my wallet had just taken purchasing the other books. He offered me the display copies that had taken a mild beating at a discount that pushed them into the realm of affordability, allowing himself to be rid of those display copies, and allowing me the opportunity to own the Provoke magazine reprints. In summation, I have never seen a bookstore owner so committed to being kind, fearless, and useful -- and also democratic. This guy wants to be successful, but it's more important to him to be great, to be useful, and to blow people's minds. It's on all of us to make him successful. Go browsing, be left in awe, and open your wallet.
