Kärntnerhof

We had a very pleasant 6 night stay in the charming Kärntnerhof hotel. It’s in an old building with beautiful original interior design: round staircase and lovely lift, rooms are decorated accordingly with wooden floors and floral wall paper and so follow the reception and dining room. We took the medium size room which was adequate for a couple with enough room space and enough storage space. Everything was meticulously clean and bed was very comfortable. Breakfast was delicious with a variety of fresh foods including fruits, yogurts, eggs, meats and cheese selection, very good breads and more. Staff are great! All are friendly, helpful and attentive. Every time we came in we were greeted with a smile. Location is another big plus: on a small and very quiet street, just a 5 minute walk to Stephanplatz. After all that said, an important note: When we checked in we were assigned a room that had a major shower water splashing problem, as there was no barrier to keep the water inside, so the whole floor got wet and slippery (to my opinion- something easy to fix). Luckily we could switch to a room that had no problem of that kind. If we had to stay in the first room it would have greatly spoiled the enjoyment of our stay (and we would have rated our review with fewer stars).

We had an amazing stay at this hotel while visiting Vienna. The staff were some of the friendliest we have encountered in all of Europe! Parking was easy and breakfast was delicious. Such a great and walkable location - highly recommend!

Charming hotel with vintage vibe, all staffs of the hotel were very friendly and nice, especially the front desk ! The location of the hotel is great, some famous spots are within walk-in distance! Unfortunately, the water pressure of the shower head was small and the temperature of the water was not steady, one bed frame was metal which makes me feel like sleeping on a medical bed, when we sitting on the edge of the bed, our legs even could directly touched the metal frame which was not comfortable! Besides the bed frame and water issue, the hotel is still highly recommended !

We had a wonderful stay at this adorable hotel. Check in was a breeze. We were traveling as a family of 4 -- 2 parents and 2 20s/late teens kids. We stayed in a two-room suite, which was perfect. The room was clean, and the beds were comfortable. The hotel's included breakfast was awesome and a great way to start each day of our stay. Note that the hotel's elevator is tiny, so we had to go up in shifts, or use the stairs. I tended to take the elevator up and the stairs on the way down. This wasn't a problem, but it's a good thing to know before you book. ||I would give this hotel 5 stars, but I took off a star for three reasons:||1. It took forever for the shower water to get hot. We had to turn the knob to the hottest setting, wait a while, and then regulate the temperature once the hot water made it to the shower. That was frustrating. Also, the hotel provides shampoo and body wash but no hair conditioner. ||2. With our room we were provided 1 old-school key with a giant keychain that had the hotel's name and room number on it. That is a huge security issue. If I were a woman traveling solo (which I often am for work), that would make me not stay here.||3. Our room could only lock with the key -- from both inside and outside. This is a fire hazard. It also was a problem when 3 of us left the room, and 1 stayed behind. Because we only had one key (and apparently, there is only one key), we had to leave him with the key, and he had to lock it from the inside. He then had to lock the room and bring the key with him when he left to meet us later in the day. ||I thought this hotel was super cute, and we had a good stay there. But the issues with the key might keep me from booking again if we have the opportunity to go back to Vienna.

Location is outstanding. Close to all the major sites. Room was quiet, comfortable, and bright. Breakfast was good. Staff was helpful. We were given an early check-in which was very nice. Overall a great value!

The location was perfect. It was quiet and very centrally located. The room was plain but very clean and comfortable. Breakfast was good. The staff were excellent.

Very nice and clean hotel. Very close to the main attractions. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Eric gave us many recommendations about the restaurants in the area. Food buffet is very good and girls who work in the dinning area are very friendly.

I had an extremely unpleasant experience with the front desk. After sending an email to the hotel, I called just to confirm that it had been received. Instead of a simple and professional response, a new staff member at reception (not George or Eric) answered and behaved in a way that was both disrespectful and unacceptable.||The manner in which I was treated felt hostile and completely out of place in hospitality. It left the impression of personal animosity or motives that should have no place in a hotel environment.||This kind of conduct is a disgrace for any establishment that wishes to call itself professional, and it certainly overshadows the reputation of the hotel. No guest should ever be spoken to or treated in such a way.

Location is amazing. Hotel was clean. Breakfast was nice, they even let me have an early breakfast. Check in was no problem, staff was helpful. Wi-Fi worked well. TV has channels from many countries. There is no AC but a nice breeze came form the window. Hotel decor was nice. Room was decent size. I guess only downside was restroom and bathroom were two different rooms, but not a big deal.
