Kartavya Path is a ceremonial boulevard in New Delhi, India, that stretches from the Rashtrapati Bhavan (President's Residence) to the India Gate. Formerly known as Rajpath, it was renamed in September 2022 to signify a shift from a colonial mindset to one focused on duty and public ownership.
Features:
Renovation: As part of the larger Central Vista redevelopment project, the area was refurbished with expanded lawns, new walkways, and refurbished canals.
Green spaces: The path features added green spaces and 15.5 km of red granite walkways, replacing the old gravel pathways.
Amenities: New public amenities were added, including vending kiosks, signages, and improved parking.
Sustainability: The redevelopment incorporated sustainable features such as stormwater management, recycling, rainwater harvesting, and energy-efficient lighting.
Statue of Netaji: A 28-foot-tall statue of Netaji Subhas Chandra Bose was installed at the India Gate, replacing a temporary hologram that was previously there.
India Gate Plaza: The refurbished area includes the India Gate Plaza, with facilities for vendors and public performances.
