Stepping into Kasagiya is like stepping into a different era—one infused with warmth, tradition, and quiet elegance. I arrived a bit late in the afternoon and was gently reminded that they close at 17:30, something I already knew—but I was still thrilled to have made it in time. To my absolute delight, I had the entire place to myself.
The atmosphere was serene, with a calm, nostalgic charm that wrapped around me like a warm blanket. I indulged in a beautifully delicate dessert paired with delicious tea, brewed and served in a classic copper teapot that somehow made it taste even better. Every detail was intentional, steeped in heritage.
What made the experience even more special was the short but meaningful exchange I had with the kind man serving me—who turned out to be the fourth-generation owner of this incredible family-run establishment. There’s something truly profound about being welcomed into a place where tradition has been carried on with such care and passion over the decades.
Note: It’s cash only! So come prepared—and come ready to slow down, savor, and feel the quiet beauty of this remarkable Kyoto treasure.
An unforgettable moment. A must-visit.
